dont be daft….it would scratch up my 50K rolex $20 Oulm in no time

  • +10

    Cheaper at Bunnings.

    • +4

…pretty sure i could knock up quite a few just from bits in my garage

      • +2

Start selling them at $45 each. Sorted.

  • +3

Similar things used to be popular many years ago amongst welders, blacksmith, machinist students etc. except they made them themselves and you were meant to make the “nut” or weld/engrave something on it yourself. The rope was usually leather or paracord.

    • +2

handmade, leather….these things have some value. this is just hardware!

      • +1

If any of them had purchased a mass produced thing like this they would have been teased for months about it.

    • This is the reason.

Expensive fashion labels are always looking for subcultures and cultures to rip off and turn into 'fashion' they can sell.

      Punk is a good example.

  • +1

    Very supid

  • +2

Only an ID bracelet if your name in Alex Xavier.

    • +2

      Don't forget Alan Xanadu

    • +1

Could also be ID for the medical procedure you're about to receive: Anal X-Ray

    “Fashion”

    • +3

It’s a part of the “I’m totally working class and not an overpaid desk monkey” collection.

      • +2

fixed "I’m totally working class and not an overWORKED underPAID desk monkey"

    • +2

      turn to the left.

  • +1

    All jewellery is wank.

    • Well, if your name is Prince Albert.

  • Are people still astonished that things sell for more than the cost of the materials? You are paying for the advertising that gives Armani/ A/X - and hence the wearer - some form of cache/style/cool points or whatever it is that you think A/X stands for. So its not a piece of rope and a nut, its a piece of rope, a nut and a small chunk of billions of dollars of advertising

If the value to you of that advertising / the consequences of that advertising is less than, say, $34.50, then dont buy it.

    • +2

Everyone understands that things are priced at > materials.

You seem to have missed the point here that there is probably negative value here, wearing this thing would get you laughed at if someone realised you'd paid money for it.

Even from a corporate branding perspective, this thing is negative value. It's totally against the image that AX tries to project. Makes me wonder if this is even a 'real' product from the company. Maybe it was a rejected concept that just made it out into a discount channel instead of being turned into landfill.

  • +2

Pretty clever if they can actually sell any for $90.

  • +1

It's down to $35 now. I wonder if they machined out the thread from the nut or they if bought them from the fastener company before the thread rolling stage.

  • +2

that's a hand-crafted shoelace, made by Mr Amani himself using only the the finest polyester fibres money can buy! well worth the RRP of $90 and an absolute steal at only $35!!

  • +1

It reminds me of those people that wear that rope/cord thing on their wrist.
Idk wtf it is but I see many people wearing one. Looks like maybe their kids made it for them. If you know what I'm talking about, can you explain it to me?

    • My daughter sometimes makes me loom band bracelets if that's what you mean.

      • I think they are possibly like braided string bracelets. I'm not sure. I see many men wearing them and I'm unsure if they are a fashion accesory or symbolic in some way.
As kids these type of things were cool. Even the bead ones. But a grown man wearing them. It just looks tacky to me. But maybe I'm just not a fashionista.

    • +1

Paracord bracelets? Popular with people who are into EDC who think living in the suburbs means you need to carry some cord, a knife, a flashlight etc. with you at all times.

  • +2

    This needs a poll.

    • -1

i still cant knock up a poll after being here for like 5 7 years or something…lol!

    • +1

      It needs a bolt.

  • +1

AX got their Alibaba supplier to manufacture these for US$1 each cost price.

    • +1

US$1 would get a carton of these.

    • +7

      wtf now????
      …thats RIDICULOUS!

    • +3

      Hahahaha that's insane.

  • +1

    charge $90AUD for it

    Err its $35

    • err…look again

      Don't pay $90
      Save $55

      • But was never $90 to start with…..

        • were not discssuing a 'bargain'….youre missing the point

          • +1

            @franco cozzo:

            youre missing the point

            Am I really?

Because I'm not falling for the 'it was $90' when it was never $90 to start with. Then sure ok.

  • +1

    Armani Exchange

    There's your answer.

It's "Fashion". People pay for fashion. Same reason people pay $3000 for a designer handbag that was made in a sweatshop.

….is this what is exactly wrong with this world?????

People have always wanted exclusive things or fashionable things.

People used to have bowls of white salt laying around because it showed wealth by being able to procure it. Pineapples used to be rented out for parties because of how expensive they were. etc etc.

    • Lol Armani Exchange is not fashion. It's basically a step away from being sold in Trade Secret.

      • The people that think it is fashion will lap it up

      • +2

It's on catch, I'd argue trade secret would be a step up.

        • Haha true although I did see some Junya Watanabe jackets turn up on Catch once.

    • Why have bowls of salt when you can have salt lamps.
21st century's version of wealth. Put these around your home and people will know you have made it.

Posted a link but system doesnt like it.

      • +1

Salt lamps are a litmus test for people being stupid IMO. Been disproven entirely and provide no benefit except to part a fool and their money

        • One benefit is a warm glow similar to a fire which can be useful for regulating circadian rhythm

          Thats not been disproven

          • @bargain huntress: That's not why people who buy salt lamps buy them, though.

            Thats not been disproven

When talking about claims the onus is on the person making the claim to prove it, not the other person to disprove it, FYI.

    • Thats very interesting

  • Armani Exchange is generally a guide that something will be gaudy/terrible

BUT OP you should join WUS and see some the bracelets that are on there

  • +1

Not my style, nor my wife's … but I can see how someone would be happy to part with $35 for it.

Most of the price of anything described as "jewellery" or "fashion" is not in the cost of the materials.

  • Don't try to understand young people trends. Rope bracelets are in, and adding a nut to the rope is the next logical step.

  • +4

You obviously haven't seen this Supreme brick before?

  • +1

If I knew what "Supidest" meant maybe I'd try to answer.

  • There's a reason it is being sold at 60% off on Catch.

  • Get an influencer to wear it on TikTok and you'll have thousands of sales.

  • It's not stupid if it sells, the consumer is the stupid one that's buying it

  • +1

    This is hilarious

  • I don't know man!! People still buy those
