Aldi 18-in-1 ranked the highest by Choice a while ago, and is cheaper per wash. I don’t think Choice compared it to all brands, like Miele’s own tablets.

    • Choice also select wash cycles that favour tablets over powder.

    • Number 1 is: 1st place: Finish Powerball Quantum Ultimate Pro Tabs Baking Soda. Aldi Logix Platinum 18 in 1 Dishwashing Tablets Lemon came second. Most of Aldi's other options came last.

Any reason people don’t just use powder? It’s much much cheaper than any tablet

    • Convenience.

    • Which powder is much much cheaper?

      • Woolworths brand shine is quite good. Just don’t add too much or it doesn’t clean. It’s a less is more not more is more situation.

    • Can you use powder in a dishwasher? Didn’t think that was an option

      • Powder was the original way to put cleaner into dishwashers. People used it for decades. Tablets came along later for convenience.

Powder reviewed worse than tablets, also can be more coarse and can wear down on fine glassware/delicates over time.

      • The Choice reviews are skewed to favour tablets - they select wash cycles without prewash which is where powder makes all the difference.

    • Housemates will (profanity) it up somehow. Tablets are foolproof, except I keep finding plastic gumming up the holes int he washer thing and the only thing I can think of is the plastic wrap on the tablets, but they dissolve so that can't be it surely…
