  • I upgraded to this webcam from the c920, very little difference in camera quality but audio is better.

The biggest killer for me is losing the tripod mount.

    • +1

That is a significant degrade in features

    • +1

Unless this is different to the Brio I have, the tripod mount is used for the monitor mount. When you detach the monitor mount, there is a standard 1/4 tripod mount.

      • yep its not obvious but i got one also. i double taped mine to the bottom of the monitor though. not as flexible but cleaner look no wires etc

      • +1

The tripod mount adds a lot of flexibility. I used a Smallrig 2161 clamp to mount the BRIO on a desk lamp, just the right height. But later moved it back to the top of the monitor, just so that I am looking at the screen/webcam.

For video conferencing, top of the monitor is probably the best location.

    • The 920 has a fantastic plastic monitor balancing system, dunno if the Brio still has that?

      • It's a similar mechanism, but also detachable, revealing a tripod mounting hole.

920's bracket is non-removeable, the mounting hole is on the bracket, a very strange design. I'm sure they have thought about it but decided to go with cost efficiency, since it was aim at home/office users, 99% would just put it on top of a monitor.

BRIO was aim at office/content creator, so it's a little more "premium" and better thought out.

  • Usb-A is the killer for me

    • +6

I believe you can use your own USB C to USB C cable.

    • +6

There are a few versions of BRIO, this one the cable is detachable, it's a USB-C port.

You can swap for any compatible cable. I'm using a short 0.5m USB-C cable plugged into the back of the monitor, very clean install.

Windows hello support has been dropped…

  • Brilliant webcam. I like the adjustable field of view, works well in low light and the Logi Capture app has good customization and fine tuning options.

    • +1

I have used mine for the last 3 years. It works well for Windows Hello, Microsoft Teams, and Messenger. The microphones are not bad as long as you are in a quiet place. I expected better picture quality being a 4K camera, but it is not bad.
This is one of the few cameras that work with Windows Hello.

  • +1

Actually it has a USB-C on the back so I suspect you could USB-C to C it, if you've got the ports, just FYI.

  • My $20 Aliexpress FHD webcam bought in 2019 still going strong, wonder if its worth an upgrade…

    • +1

Does it have a brand ,name , looking something for Google duo or what's app video calls etc on a smart tv or Oled tv

      • Not really, just filter by most popular and it was the first one on there.

  • +1

Only NSW particuarly Sydney customers will be eligble for this officeworks pricebeat as the mwave store is located in Sydney. Officeworks in the other states will still pricebeat but they will include the shipping cost which totals to $181.90 for VIC, So they will price beat 181.90, which is $172.8, Which is still a good deal for this webcam

    • YMMV, I’m in SA and price matched (without shipping) no questions asked

      • You got lucky, they are supposed to

  • I can tell this will go OOS in a few hours

    • +6

It’s an ok price not a great as $109 at end of last year :)

      • That's what I got it for.

  • +2

Wow, decent price for this, had purchased one during COVID for 250.

    • +2

Same. Great value at this price for a “standard” webcam. The change to field of view, colour correct, multiple microphones and 4K potential is one of the best webcam setups before going to a SLR & mic setup.
Perfect for business calls/presentations. The FOV change alone makes a huge difference when setting up a meeting and background.

      • Generally interested in how being able does adjust the FOV helps with business calls/presos?

        • +2

You get to crop your IKEA wardrobe in the back when WFH.

        • i work from multiple locations, so this is/was a portable way to set this up quickly, and the light adjustment feature as well is great for this.

  • +1

I have this but never realised it had a ring light built in. Anyone knows how I might turn it on?

    • You thinking of Razer Kiyo or something
      ?

      • Just realised it said right light not ring light. 😑

  • Facecam is better IMO.

    • I had both and decided to keep the Brio.. Each to their own I guess and maybe with some setup the Facecam could've been better but out of the box on a Mac, Brio was a clear winner for me. Mostly in terms of how I looked in day and night lighting

      • I have both as well.
The Facecam software is better. I am able to adjust the Shutter speed which made a HUGE difference (currently set to 30).
You can't do this in Logitune.

        • Um yes you can? I certainly can.

          Try updating your software.

        • For me, Windows Hello was the winner feature. Facecam and Razer Kiyo were as good in picture quality. Apparently, the Dell UltraSharp WB7022 4K is really good picture quality, and it is Windows Hello compatible, but it does not have microphone. I rarely use the microphone of the Brio. I used headphones for web meetings.

    • I sure would hope so for roughly 4x it's price?

That said, it seems impossible to buy and massively overpriced.

  • Is it worth upgrading to this from a C270 just for online meetings?

    • +1

      No.

    • +1

Is it worth upgrading to this from a C270 just for online meetings?

Lol, it's not like a monitor.

You get absolutely nothing out of that "upgrade" unless you're on onlyfans or something and want to offer higher resolution streaming. If this isn't the case, then I suspect that nobody is really waiting to see you in 4k or whatever during work meetings.

      • -2

Do you make more money offering higher resolution on Onlyfans?

  • Anyone know if Officeworks still price beat as its sold out on the Mwave website now?

  • i remember when these were 300 during the pandemic

    • +2

I remember when they were 109 during last sale
