Why 45W when laptop is 65w?

    • +4

      Some laptops are 45W.

If yours is 65W and you want to charge your laptop, obviously don't use this.

Potentially stupid question, would a 65W laptop be charged by this, but just more slowly?

        • Yes

    • +1

My Macbook Air uses 30w and XPS 13 uses 45w.

  • Bought this last time, great charger, works well.

      Ok for switch?

      • No clue, I don't have a switch

      • No sorry. Not for the dock. Stand alone charging might be possible.

      • Partner charges off this charger whilst playing no issues while hand held. Won't do the whole dock thing though

Be careful with this one, I was charging (trying to anyway) my phone with it and noticed a burning smell. Touched it and it was burning hot and slight smoke (phone plugged in but wasn't charging), lucky I was sitting right next to it as I'm pretty sure it was close to catching fire. Looked up some reviews who mentioned similar. If you're going to use it, make sure you don't leave the switch on if you're not nearby.

Made the mistake of getting it via Telstra rewards they've had it for 6 months now and no word -.-

I would report this to your state electrical board or state consumer affair body) if you have some pictures. It could be a faulty batch. Remember to include everything you can in your report including serial number, model number, brand name how many occurrences.

They will end up doing nothing, unless they start receiving multiple complaints. However, getting hot to touch and smoke is a sign of a fire and electrical hazard which should not be ignore. I would not use it.

    • Charger? What charger?

      • ? This plug was the charger

  • Good deal - bought it for $42 a year ago, work very well charging my phone, ipad, and XPS 13 laptop.

Will try my luck getting this price-matched at TGG retail.

  • Hi how can we get the gg commercial account?

  • Has the price changed to $63 ?

    • Still $28

      • TA, .. I signed up thru gday rewards and price in good guys is showing $63… i wonder if there is a different price for certain memberships.

I signed up with Rest for free.

  • Thanks. Used my wife's nurses union to sign up to tgg commercial

  • I tried doing some Googling and wasn't able to see whether you can do max wattage on all four ports at the same time. Anyone else know?

    • +1

they usually don't. i would assume the max wattage to be 45w on this one on the PD ports any other simultaneously plugged in will be sharing power. otherwise this thing would have been advertised as a higher wattage product.

      From JB
      45W Max total output

    • No, if I charge some head phones that only uses about 5w, super fast charging does not work on Samsung phone, instead it uses fast charge, which I think is 15w

      • It needs to support PPS to super fast charge.

  • I picked up one of these from bunnings a while back for this price. They were hanging on the end of one of the isles.

These chargers are terrible.I wouldn’t buy a Cygnett product. I was given one for free when I purchased a steam deck. The unit I have has 4 ports total but is lame in that if you plug two items into it the charger just shuts itself off. Save your money and buy the Anker ones instead they have the Anker 543 charger for $56 delivered

  • Just tried to sign up via Rest. Got error msg "The store has encountered a problem processing the last request. Try again later. If the problem persists, contact your site administrator."

Anyone have sane issue? How do I get this resolved?

  • I also find this charger not great. If I have my MacBook plugged in to USB C and I plug in my led lamp to USB A, the charger switches off for a second and I need to replug in the MacBook. The same thing happens vice versa, having to turn the lamp back on. Other than that it works. The plastic feels a little cheap but fine.

  • BigW do a 6 port charger with 2 USB C ports at 45W. This is just their regular price and seems to be in line for value with a lot of the charger deals I see posted

Personally wouldn't buy anything unless it's gan, surely at these wattages, this unit runs hot.

I bought a couple of the two-port version a few years back, both have since broken. First they wouldn't charge iPhones, then eventually they wouldn't charge anything. I don't want to be a negative Nelly, but it's honest feedback.
