Been watching this for the past few weeks, and was waiting for a deal to buy. The price always was $139. Currently, it's advertised as $69.30. Pretty good deal.

Getting one for myself, thought to post it here.

    The jig is up

How many pieces is this jigsaw?

  • +1

This or the brushless that's full RRP?

    • +1

I used this for a reasonable project with thick marine ply. Worked great.

What are you doing with it and how often are you going to use it?

      • +1

        Alright then I'm sorted then.

In the near future going to start building a lot of home projects eg. custom storage boxes etc

      • +1

how is it on the loudness scale?

        • +1

          It's loud.

Been checking both of these daily for the last 3 mths. This is not brushless, brushly is still full RRP.

      • +1

What do you recommend? Is brushless a lot better than this?

        • +3

Don't think brushless is worth in most circumstances. I'm a hobby tool guy and brushed suits me always. Jigsaw are fussy (profanity) either way and you'll end up butchering a few things if you are lazy like me.

          • @gakko: Not worth it… yeah, but true only becuase of what they charge. Manufacturing a brushless doesnt increase the price X fold. It's just Ryobi trying to hit different consumer markets. They sell something at a price point for hobby and something at a higher point for whatever you call the next level.

I say this, becuase I think it's wrong. If you want the best bang for your buck avoid this. The Ferrex tools from Aldi have the best bang for your buck. They're specs and warranty are better than anything else in the next price point up.

I'm makita and milwaukee, and it doesn't make sense to me to buy into ryobi because of these price points they try and hit.

      • Sorry, what does brushless mean here? How different is it?

        • Brushless is usually a bit more powerful, and lasts a bit longer.

None brushless is absolutely fine for normal home use 👍

Thanks mate! Just purchased 1 for myself. Been eyeing off this or the brushless model for a few months now. Figured at this price and my very limited use, this brushed model would suffice. Especially at this price point.

  • +1

Thanks OP! Ducked over and snagged one in store when I saw this come up.

  • +2

Bought quickly.. doesnt include a battery, i have mostly ozb ozitto stuff.. any recommendations for cheap battery? Thanks.

    • +4

I wouldn't recommend other batteries. I am waiting for the Ryob battery deal ( 4x 4.0ah Lithium Battery Pack $249 ) they had in the past.

    • +3

Can strong suggest getting a deal pack with any other tools that might be required > buying batteries direct.
Especially if you’re going to move to Ryobi ecosystem, these packs (can be cheaper/more deals around EOFY, Father’s day and Xmas).

      Good luck with it.

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago for $139 and hadn’t even taken it out of the box yet. I just returned that one and picked up another at the discounted price. On the shelf the tag still said $139 but it rang up at $69.

    • +2

Bunnings return policy really good, good stuff.
I assume their pricing team will get there eventually.

    Come on line trimmer

    • +1

      tonnes on marketplace :)

      • +1

Seems expensive without a battery on the marketplace near me, but on sale, it's much cheaper with a battery and new.

  • +1

good enough to DIY build wardrobes and drawers?

    • +6

Might want a circular saw for that.

      • +1

Agree, but needs a fine tooth blade. Most saws are sold with big rip saw blades that will make a terrible mess of an edge.

They're suitable for construction timber and firewood only :)

        • Yes fine tooth blade should do the job and also the blade should not go too deep. Paper taping over the cut may help a bit.

    • +3

So you can cut straight lines and corners…jigsaw can do that but youll need guides and good blades….and go very very slowly

  • +4

I just buy pre made jigsaws now. find my arms tired once I get the 1000 pieces done with this

  • +1

I see Bunnings are playing tricks with referring links. The deal is still available on the website but you can’t link to the page directly.

  • +3

For those with Ozito batteries their version is $49.49 at Bunnings. I've got one for occasional use as couldn't justify DeWalt's version. Works fine for me. No doubt the Ryobi would as well if you're with their system.

  • +4

Thank you OP, lost all my tools in a flood, and I've been slowly replacing them when on sale. Sneeky price is full rrp in Bunnings search listing but discounted price on product page - I never would have seen this (OzB is awesome!).

  • Was this a mistake price went in today and couldn’t believe it was back up.

Asked them about the price said a mate got it for $69 but said must of been a demo.

    • No, there was a heap of Ryobi one+ on special last week
