Can get a Anker. Non gan. But small for about 35. One port 65
The main issue is heymix has demonstrated through various products they don't care about bad design. They don't check, they don't test, or don't hold their suppliers accountable.
Do these brandless ones do any of that? Absolutely not. But they're never around long enough for anyone to notice.
I don't get why anyone would plug a $1400 phone into a $30 charger.
$30 charger is fairly expensive if it's just your phone…..
$30 for a 65w charger absolutely isn't expensive. I mean it's not super cheap either. The $15 units off Ali would truly be a disaster.
Would love anyone to try and actually refute my points. Plenty of people here have very expensive samsings/iPhones/etc.
@incipient: it would be nice if these phone makers would include a charger. Or at least discount the price of the phone by the value of the charger they no longer give you.
@lostn: I think it's not a bad thing they're not including chargers anymore - there are a lot of folks who swap phones regularly and are creating ewaste with additional chargers they don't need. Having them optional but fairly priced would be best
@Horacio: But they're not fairly priced unless you buy 3rd party products, and phones keep getting faster charging which your old chargers won't support.
It's not about e-waste, it's about profits. If it was only e-waste, they phone price would drop by the amount they would sell a charger for. But they go up, not down. They want you to buy a new charger from them, which won't be cheap. If you don't buy it, they make a profit of $89 by not including it, and if you buy it, they make a profit of $178 by effectively charging you double for a charger.
@lostn: You're right.. maybe govt needs to step in with some well-thought out and adaptable rules .. it was good they did that in Europe with charging plug standards https://www.europarl.europa.eu/news/en/headlines/society/202…
@incipient: Never had an issue with cheap chargers. Worst thing to have ever happened was a few $5 ones got pretty hot back in the day.
Not saying heymix is okay, but you can't condemn all cheap chargers.
Furthermore, a cheap 5V 1A charger would prolong your battery health vs a fast charger when charging overnight
I’ve got 6 of these between multiple sites over 9 months, they are great.
I’ve torn one of them open, they’re designed fairly well and are definitely better than heymix, nothing egregious or concerning in terms of safety that they skipped.
Efficiency isn’t the greatest, and there’s room for improvement in a lot of areas, but safety isn’t somewhere id worry.
Teardown photos? I'm interested
Extension and charger… thanks OP, bought two
Absolutely no use for the extension - but that’s just me
Good when travelling
so you are bringing something with aussie plugs to plug into this?
e.g?@ChatCPT: Yep an au->overseas plug adaptor. I usually travel with one of those and a powerboard (since hotel sockets are not always placed in convenient spots), but using these kind of devices like in OP brings more functionality than a powerboard + separate usb chargers
A pity the cable is fixed. Would be nice to have an IEC-C7 socket ("figure 8") for travel.
Can just grab a pack of travel adapters.
Here's something on sale with a figure 8 = https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-Charger-Charging-Station-Co…
And 3X the price!
Just trying to help! :) 65w only 2x price lol https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BXKFCBCV
yes that's the best arrangement 4 sure
I bought the travel adaptor from the same company from AliExpress for about the same price, it's about the same size and contains all the plugs. No extension though.
That’s what I’m looking for a block with a figure 8 cable so I can just change cable depending on country and use mini usb cables for charging
What do you think of this one? Similar price, fig 8 cable. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/787852 .. but is it too big for travel? Can't decide
Im putting together a table of a few brands - mainly after weight and volume dont care about price as I hope to hold onto to this for years. Will share once i refine
@ChatCPT: Right I am going to wait then and not get this quntis job.. I should stop obsessing about price and consider the e-waste aspect come to think of it. In case I miss your posting, I'll be very grateful if you remember to @me
@Horacio: will do and agree I don't advise getting this Quntis one. never heard of them and terrible name lol
what you want is Anker, Belkin, Satechi …
Does anyone know the output for this?
The product description has a picture (last picture) that shows all the different combinations of power outputs.
How do these compare to the similar Baseus units?
I have the 65W Baseus and can't see how it would be better than this. I'm trying to justify getting this one to make myself feel better, but I already bought the Belkin 108W that has a Figure 8 removeable connector (which I think is much better for travel).
Great deal. Thanks OP
I've the Baseus unit. Love it - downside is bulk of the plug. Having a mains plug is the benefit to this style of unit. Just wish the plug was detachable.
I bought one and the usb ports C charging doesnt always work
I feel like this could be similar to the HEYMIX products, does anyone have experience?
