Has been cheaper in the past but better than $130 at Kitchen Warehouse or House. $240 RRP is an obvious fib.

5+yrs on the saxa single use ones $4.40.@ coles. A good whack with a piece of 4x2 to break the glue on top, then to top up after that a whack your hand to open the collar.

          Nup.

The only one that outlasted them so far is the Woolies salt grinder, which is 6-7yrs (which was in our camping box, but has been in daily use also for nearly 3yrs).

We've tried Alex Liddy, Cole & Mason, Maxwell & Williams, Joseph Joseph. But they all seem to break for one reason or another. Bit these Saxa ones get used daily and still grind away. The thing is rock salt (we usually buy saxa stuff). Really isn't that hard (unlike coffee beans). salt doesn't corrode plastic, so when you think about it, plastic makes sense.

Eventually the collar will.wear and won't clip closed, but hey even if that happens tomorrow, under $1/yr is pretty good and hardly a waste of resources or money.

  • i got breville ones for $20 new on fbmp

$70 for a salt and pepper shaker. We've lost our way on OzB. What cost of living crisis?

I have these, they’re terrible for pepper (for cooking) as they don’t actually crack that much. I’m always standing around for over a minute if I want freshly cracked. If I’m in a rush I reach for the manual ones.

  • Personally I stay away from battery operated grinders and to help environment!
