Do what I did, and get a Parcel locker at a rural PO or LPO. Starlink happy are to ship there. I used to live in Canberra but are now nomading, we had our Starlink delivered to Harden NSW.

Just pop in your address and the Starlink site will tell you if you qualify. You need to activate it at the location you get it sent to but after that you can change plan to roaming and move.

      • Same monthly cost?

        • Roaming is an additional monthly cost by about $10 to $15.

    Dying for more feedback!
It could be fast in theory but then Albo sends it thru the Politicsfilter in Melbourne and hence it becomes slow as honey.

Pretty good service. My parents can only get fixed wireless NBN, which would be fine in theory since it's capable of 90mbps but speeds during peak times drop to around 8mbps and 500ms ping. Tried 6 ISPs, best we could get it up to was 15mbps which for all we know could have been a slightly quieter week.

Starlink goes in and it's 200mbps dropping to 180mbps in peak, stable ping around the 90-110ms mark.

Wow…way better than my capital city wired connection.

If only somebody would build a fast data network, perhaps using something like optical fiber to connect direct to every home/business….

Next you'll be wanting affordable electricity in a country with enough energy resources for a millennia or three.

I've also just realised that Starlink is available at Officeworks.

They seem to be price matching at $199.

    • Yes, i just noticed this on their website also!

It seems to be the same price for metro as it is normally only rural. That's nuts.

      • Yes, and you avoid the $30 delivery! I have heard though that they have no stock.

  • My starlink arrived today

250-300mbs and <50 ping to sydney from Tas

Only negative is that they are slower to send out attachments
I cant roof mount nor can I plug into our router yet

  • I did two installs on Sunday in Gippsland, VIC (they were neighbours) and here are two-speed tests. First Test and Second Test.

For people who have no other options, it is a great solution. These users were on ADSL2 since NBN Satellite was awful for them.

  • Musk is in bed with Telstra, so there's a chance all the good reasons to jump may be short lived. Speed,DL limits, cost, reliability, support etc.
Buyer beware. Do your own homework.
Popularity = congestion. USA found that out. France had data caps at some point

If your only alternative is skymuster then this is a no-brainer.
