Still wondering if they're gonna do 3 months for $1 again

    • Not with the $69B acquisition coming in.

    • This was such a good deal

  • I have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate that was due to expire tomorrow, so I canceled autopayments to see if I can get it for $1 instead. However it says my subscription was for AU$15.95 and If I check the renewal price via the link above, it says it will be AU$18.95/month. What is the rate supposed to be and if you have it locked in at a lower rate, do you keep that?

    • +1

      Found here

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will now cost $18.95 per month for new subscribers while Xbox Game Pass cost $11.95 per month. Current members with an active sub won’t see the change until either August 13th or whenever their subscription comes up for renewal at a later date.

    • +1

Microsoft put the price up yesterday across the globe

    • Let us know the result, i also would like to know if this is just for first time joiners (as is usually the case) or whether lapsed users can get the deal.

  • +6

No sub but no joy here.

    • same

    • Yeah shows as 18.95 for me.

    • yeah mine didn't show $1 either (haven't had game pass for several months now)

      • Same with me. Has been about 3-4 months without a sub now.

  • +9

Not as good as $70 for three years via oldubil.

    • Got a guide for how to do this?

      • +1

Expired, because Xbox Gamepass prices have gone up across the world. But here is the link to the thread https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/784047

        • +3

Well not expired, but iirc it now costs an extra like 90 cents per month. Price raised in Turkey too, but the Lira is still worth nothing.

Actually just read below they now use a 3:2 conversion instead of 1:1, so the math is a bit more complex than that..

          • @AustriaBargain: Missed the 1:1 conversion memo , not as good now.

            • @tm32: Yeah the conversion changed to 3:2. Still better than nothing as long as you can get gold for cheap overseas, but no where near as good as before.

          • @AustriaBargain: No, with the big price increase in all subscriptions in Turkey (which can be 2.7x) AND reduced conversion ratio, 1 OZBer only managed 11 months with $75 AUD equivalent. So that's now worse than the $55 JB 1 year XBox Live Gold voucher trick nearly 3 years ago.

Damn hope this comes up in 36 months.

    • +2

I'd have stacked 15 years of OlduBil if I could have.

  • +1

Haha renewed for 36 months yesterday, this would have saved me $15! Oh well.

    • Spend 5 mins to contact customer support

    • +10

You had perfect timing. They removed 1:1 conversion from today. Now they are using a 3:2 conversion ratio for Live to Ultimate.

      • +1

Oh no kidding? Damn alright, glad I didn't wait then.

  • Is this cloud gaming?
If i have crappy old PC, can I play AAA games assuming it is cloud gaming?

    • +1

It includes cloud gaming, yes, for titles that support it

  • RIP to anyone who couldn’t get the OlduBil deal

  • +5

Note: Microsoft removed the 1:1 conversion from Live Gold to Ultimate. Now you get 2 years of Ultimate for 3 years of Gold.

  • Just in time to try out new added games

  • So if I cancel after subscribing do I get the full month, or do I have to wait til the last day to cancel?

    • +3

You can cancel right away and it'll expire a month from now instead of renewing.

Wonderful deal, thanks for sharing. And now I can also claim the discord perk for and 3 months of nitro

  • might go for another month. but i cant say i would get much value at full price

  • +2

The deal disappears when I log in. I haven't had a subscription for a year.

    • Same $18.95 for me, no current subscription.

  • Still getting charged full price. Don't have an existing sub

    • +1

With a reduced list of games and only standard editions for some games (i.e. Forza Horizon 5) even if you purchased the add on pack. Also, John for DigitalFoundry isn't impressed with xCloud gaming.

For $1 though, it is worth it.

  • As usual, Microsoft doesn't offer this deal to people's main accounts. On my main account, Microsoft is asking me for full price. On an account that I hardly ever used, despite having a GamePass Console voucher applied to it, Microsoft is offering $1/month to convert that to Ultimate at a 4:3 ratio + 1 month for $1.

  • Who's on your pfp

  • How does this xbox pc thing work? Bought a new laptop and it keeps popping up - never used it before. Is it a steam competitor?

    • +1

      is it a steam competitor

Yeah pretty much. It's a digital store but the prices to buy outright are usually quite steep
There's a subscription model which is decent value where you can play but not own a bunch of games, sometimes new ones.
You can check out the PC gamepass library here to see if there's anything on there you want to play before you buy.
You can also browse this list in the app without paying and it looks a bit better there.

Legend! Thanks. Do torrents on games still exist?

  • For Xbox players, you can make a new account, subscribe for 1 dollar and make set your console as the 'home xbox' on that account through settings, then log into your main and enjoy.

    • Thank you !! This worked. I simply logged out, created a new account, subscribed for $1 and cancelled the auto-renew.

A shame I couldn't take advantage of that deal… The 2 websites (Wise and that other one) asked for ID and would not let me add money so I had to miss out.
I really wanted to save money but nobody on here provided me a solution 2 days later so I was forced to miss out.

    • +2

You elected not to go through with it. Revolut, yes, an ID check is required and it is understandable that you would be uncomfortable with it, especially given what happened last year with Optus etc… Wise, there is a loophole where transfers can still be made. Just need to dig deep into the app.

I did not complete Wise ID Check and have completed 2 transfers with 1 before the deal ended and 1 after the deal ended.

That said, I reckon most people don't need constant GamePass Ultimate (since most of us don't really have time to play games). If Microsoft continues to offer these $1/month deal, then most people could be better off. With this, it is a good sign $1 for 2-3 months Christmas to New Year special could still happen (so that will be 5, maybe 6 years in a row).

  • +2

Seems to be $1 for 14 days

What's the best hack to get 12 months
