Also only on my Velocity Escape card (thanks for the supp tip)

    • Got in both Platinum Edge primary and additional cards.

      whats supp tip?

  • Received on platinum reserve but not platinum charge.

    • Got it on Edge card, but not Platinum Charge.

      • It’s positively silly how Amex penalises us from using the card. When I shelved the charge for a while I got so many more offers.

    • Just checked and redeemed on both cards, Plat Charge and Plat Reserve.

    Excludes gift card purchases.

I recall GC purchase still works with AMEX offers

    • +5

Yes but that's just a standard clause in every Amex statement credit offer

    • +8

      Only in store.

    • +4

Only if you buy in store.

      Coles Myer Gift Card

      • -1

Does the Coles Myer GC auto track balance? i.e, if I have $12.77 left on a CMGC, do I need to know about it and tell the cashier about it or will it just auto-apply the entire balance (when purchasing something exceeding the balance value)?

I had a few Ultimate GCs and needing to remember the balance on each card was a pain. Yes I know you can check online. But at the cashier, it won't just scan and apply whatever the balance is. You need to tell the cashier the exact figure that can be charged to it.

        • -1

From my memory with CMGC you don't need to remember the balance. I used two CMGCs a few months ago at Coles Express. There wasn't enough balance on the first one and I didn't know how much left on that card.

        • +1

Check balance whenever you like at https://www.giftcards.com.au/CheckBalance, you need to make note of how much is left - it's not really a big deal. I just use a texta and write it on back of card and then either tell cashier or do a part payment if I am doing a self-checkout.

        • +1

At Coles, if you attempt to redeem $25 from a Coles Group & Myer gift card with only $12.77 left on it, it will be declined and then the checkout will tell you the actual balance remaining on the gift card (in this example, $12.77). The checkout will then ask whether you want to attempt another redemption for $12.77.

          • If you are only wanting to use cash or a prepaid/debit/credit card as a remaining payment method, the easiest thing to do is to accept this and attempt another redemption for the remaining amount on the gift card.

          • If you are wanting to redeem another gift card issued by Coles Group afterwards, decline this, go back to the Mixed Payments option and select either Gift Card or Card payment and the remaining balance amount showed to you earlier. If you instead accept this, you are very likely to trigger a bug in Coles’ checkout system where any further attempts to redeem a gift card issued by Coles Group will be declined by an Invalid Product Mix error as soon as you swipe/scan your gift card.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Ahhh that explains why this happened to me in the past, with the invalid product mix error. Thanks for clarifying Woolies, it was odd as it was only groceries and the staff had no idea too.

            • +1

@magster: The Coles Groceries gift card will randomly trigger this bug by itself on rare occasions. In other words, even if you punch in the correct remaining balance on a Coles Groceries gift card and never bring up the prompt talked about earlier, if you then go to redeem another gift card issued by Coles Group (e.g. another Coles Groceries gift card, a Coles gift card, a Coles Group & Myer gift card), there is a small chance you will be greeted with an Invalid Product Mix error as soon as you swipe/scan your gift card.

Btw, I do not remember calling myself Woolies lol

This might give you some ideas - https://www.myer.com.au/

  • Got it on velocity amex platinum

  • Got it on Gold credit card, and it's supp

  • Got it on the qantas ultimate
But for my platinum charge, its $100 back $10

    • Interesting. I got it on every card except the per plat.

  • No dice. Totally forgot about the option of buying Coles Myer GC when there was an offer.

I'm not entirely sure what kind of card I have got, it looks like this and earns points but no annual fee.

Sometimes I mention to friends about Amex offers, they ask what type of card, I don't know so I just say "regular".

    • It should say what type you have when you log into your account e.g. logging into the last account on my app says I have Elevate and Velocity Escape cards

      • It says Gold Credit Card, but I don't think it is because the actual "gold" card has an annual fee. I don't have other banking services with Amex that may have waived the fees. Kinda strange but not complaining.

Probably similar to Essential (earns points and no annual fee).

        • What does the card look like? The Gold card looks "gold". They waived the annual fee on that card for a lot of people many years ago.

        • +1

Are you an accountant or engineer or some other kind of professional? I know they had special AmEx offers for people registered in those professions a while ago. Maybe Fee Free Gold was an option you took up at some point.

          • @daanish: Ah, that's it. I have totally forgotten. The partnership must have ended, now I remember there was a logo on the card, would have reminded me if the logo is still there.

All good, not big deal. Was just wondering when others can clearly name their cards: Velocity Escape, Platinum Edge, Qantas, Essentials, etc.

I will start calling mine: Gold Regular.

  • Got it on my Explorer (and supp Explorer)

  • Didnt get it on my Velocity Platinum :(

  • Didn't get it on my Velocity Escape but got it on my Discovery + 4 supps. Would have preferred it on the Escape card as I would rather Velocity points over Qantas points but I'll take the offer either way.

  • The Myer in Brisbane City has a closing down sale… This is just another incentive to go in and snag some deals.

  • How do you guys get it on your supp cards? I'm logged in but can only see the main account card. I can see the other supp card holders but not their separate cards. I've got the Essentials card.

    • +2

Create accounts for your supp cards.

        Ty

      • +1

I was wondering if everyone else was doing that. I have to cycle between 4 logins for all my supp cards when these offers show up. Glad to know I'm not missing out on some kind of streamlining option.

Just got an email saying my platinum edge points transfer to SIA and/or emirates will soon be 3:1 instead of 2:1. Wasn’t it 1:1 previously? Offers like this one aren’t that great anymore. No point in keeping this card anymore.

    • 1:1 to airline miles was prior April 2019. After that it depreciated to 2:1.

    • +1

from when is it going to be 3:1 ?

      • 4th October

  • is this different to AmEx Reward/offers?

  • +2

Used it on 4 cards this afternoon and just received 1/4 confirmation emails about two and a half hours later.

    • +7

Following up to say that I bought Coles Myer cards with each card and all confirmation emails have now come through so I can confirm it still works for Coles Myer GCs as usual.

      • +2

Credits all paid out within 36 hours or so as well.

  • Amex referral links seem to be out of date? Sign up bonuses are reduced from what is stated on the referral link. Anyone else experiencing this?

  • -2

Is anyone able to confirm you can redeem this offer buying Coles group gc?
There're reports they no longer work.

    • +1

See @daanish comment above. Still works!

      • Thanks

  • Anyone knows if using a Myer One Rewards credit as part payment makes the transaction ineligible?
I used a $20 Myer One Reward for my order of a Lego set yesterday but I have yet to receive a confirmation email from Amex.

    • +1

My email was very delayed, but it did track and pay. As long as you spent at least $150 on your targeted Amex it will go through.

      • The lego set was $259 after the Myer One credit. I didn‘t know if it’s because I didn‘t click on the redeem link from my Amex registered offer email before ordering but for people who shop instore they won’t need to click before going to the till to pay.

Usually I receive those Amex confirmation emails quite immediately. Good to know that those emails sometimes get delayed. I will wait and see.

    • I made a part payment with GCs and received the bonus.

      • Was yours an online order? Did you receive the Amex email soon after you placed the order?

        • Yes online. I don't think I received the email at all.
