  • Hi OP, any offers with red switch?

    • -3

nah, just get some ink blacks

  • +1

    Hi OP,

I bought the V2 a little while ago and have been very happy with it. However, I've been unable to get a polycarb plate from the Keychron US site and the AU site continues to show a 404 for V2 plates.

Do you know when you might be getting some V2 PC plates in?

    Any offers for Q6?

  • +7

Need a deal: full size, wired with red switches.

    • -1

I've got Keychron V6 QMK Custom Mechanical Keyboard Fully Assembled Knob / Frosted Black (Translucent) / Keychron K Pro Red

Works well, using it now :)

      • -3

Good for you, I'm rocking a Logitech G710+ with half busted Leds with and an incorrect order AliExpress cyrillic keycap set. It has both a knob and knobs on it, so to speak.

      • The problem is you go from not caring about keyboards and then going full crazy about it.

I grabbed the same keyboard, I'm pretty particular about keyboards (full length)..

Changed my switches as I realised browns weren't what my previous quasi-mechanical keyboard had… So glad that local places now sell them so you don't need to get them online..

Also the fact that the firmware is all open source so you can go completely nuts with it, or just use the chrome keymapping tool.

So yeah, as you can tell from my ramblings theae keyboards are a gateway drug into mechanical keyboard craziness.

I bought a Keychron recently and whilst I really like it, the bluetooth issues are just far too prevalent that it becomes near unusable. Sure I can connect with the USB-C cable, but that kind of defeats the purpose of a wireless keyboard.

    • +2

Really? What's the issues? I've been daily driving my K4V2 for nearly a year at this point and have zero issues with the BT to my work PC.

      • +8

Constantly disconnecting, delays when pressing keys followed by that key entering 50 times etc… I've updated firmware successfully but cannot update bluetooth firmware as it connects and then just hangs up on 'updating'. So no fix as far as I can see and Keychron's support offered nothing of value and essentially agreed when I said I'll have to return and look for an alternative option.

        • +5

Had the same issue when I got a Keychron. Had much cheaper keyboards with no issues in exact same environment too.

        • I've got a K6 & K10 - no bluetooth issues with Dell 5440, 7480, 6th gen iPad & Sharp Android Smart TV

          • -2

@Sillen: yeah, keychron sucks. i have 2. they're sitting in my drawer, using a cheap logitech now (K855). shit keyboard by a shit company.

            • +3

@magnitude: Our experiences differ completely. You've had issues, I haven't. The keyboards are made the same but our hardware might be different.

Again, I've purchased six Keychron over the last 2 years, two of them use bluetooth daily & zero issues so far.

        • A friend had similar issues with one of his Q series.
I've got a K1 SE which double types /? sometimes, but bluetooth is fine. I have turned off the auto sleep though.

        • +2

I own a K2V2 and have these same issues. Lovely keyboard but the wireless mode sucks. I just switched to a USBC connection for stability.

          • +1

@bindok: I have a K2V2 and a K8 pro with no connection issues with either of them. Bang for buck is strong with Keychron. The fully built pro versions are the way to go - very good value overall.

I modded my K2V2 to essentially a pro version myself and the cost of the upgrades + the base kb was more than buying a pro version. And boy was it a troublesome upgrade.

        • mine is doing the same thing, less then a week old

        • That sucks mate. Sorry to hear. Astonished that there's so much variability between products (especially with others reporting the same/similar issues)

    • what bluetooth issues? my k5 v1 works perfectly. only 'issue' is that it goes into standby a little too quickly (maybe 5 mins?), requires a keypress to wake up, and takes maybe 2 sec to do so?

      • +2

        See above :)

        • ah okay, bugger sorry to hear. maybe you just got a dud one :(

      • +1

        I love my K5 v1!
You may already know, but although you can’t change the timeout length, you can disable the sleep function by pressing Fn+S+O for 3 seconds.

Handy link if you haven’t seen it before. Other settings combos are in the second table :)

    • +1

Possibly the receiver on your motherboard? I have connection issues with mine to my mouse but the mouse works fine on other devices.

    • -3

totally agree, but this is an entry level custom board so you are going to have to lower your expectations, lol.

i moved on, i now have a jelly

    • Have the exact same issues with my K1 Pro. Moving the antennas on my wifi adapter helped a bit, but that only helps with a desktop.

    • +1

Same I had a K3v2 and had to return it as the Bluetooth issues were infuriating. Switched to the Logitech MX mechanical and it works like a dream, like it's supposed to.

      • Same model same issues. I just hooked it up and use as wired. Apprently it works pretty well if u buy a bt receiver as a work around but im not paying for that lol

        • In my case I did have a bt receiver plugged into my desktop and still had those problems.

    • It's a known issue for keychron, hopefully their new ones fix it. Didn't want to deal with it, so grabbed the wired. Hopefully new model fixes the issue

Then some people it's fine …

    • +1

different issues for me, but I'm also not happy with BT performance especially the huge delay when it is waking up from sleep.

mine is permanently plugged in now. Much prefer my MUCH cheaper motospeed, although that has doubled in price now.

      • Yep it's the wake from sleep time that pisses me off. Once connected it's OK but it's a bit of a deal breaker compared to the instant wake of my MX Keys.

  • Hi OP, been watching for a barebone Q6 without knob for a while - are they coming?

  • +2

Brought a Q10 recently having never owned an enthusiast level keyboard before. I was blown away with the quality.

    • -1

      where did you bring it?

  • What's the difference between the K4 pro vs the QMK V5? apart from the knob on the V5.

  • +1

K4 Pro already sold out :(

    • DAng it. Want.

      • There is stock again! Just ordered the K4 Pro Blue Switch

        • Lucky you. Any idea what the difference between RGB and RGB-B models are?

    • +2

I don't think there was ever stock and it was meant to catch the attention of people. Their discounts are always low.

    • +1

Try the K10 instead. It's only a bit more.

  • Oooohhhhhhh ezpctech run Keychron Australia?

    I got a Keychron V1 recently and it's awesome. I love it.

    • Mastex does, which yes is ezpctech.
Also had a V1 previously, excellent keyboard don't get me wrong however the top case started wearing / glossing on me within 6-7 months use.
I've since order a Q1 Pro from switchkeys - $259 inc postage for the barebone. Absolute overkill for my needs probably but once you get into the hobby…

      • Ohh interesting. I didn't get the transparent model, but I'll keep an eye out on it. I got it from Amazon so hopefully cosmetic wear should be covered.

        • right - yeah I had the transparent black. Unfortunately I was not given a definitive answer if it'll happen on the carbon black, hence the switch to a aluminium case instead with the Q1.
Just something I knew would annoy me moving forward.

          • @pandas: I wanted the Q1 badly, I just couldn't justify the extra cost. How is it compared?

            • +1

@theguyrules: Still yet to receive the board, looks likely to arrive next week since we're talking about AusPost :(
I know where you're coming from, I still couldn't justify my purchase but was a matter of buy now think later - way to eager to see what the fuss is about with gasket mount. I've gone back to a Tecware Phantom in the meanwhile, I miss the V1.

If you're into linears and on a budget, I managed to score 110pcs of Gateron Milky Yellow Pro off Temu for $4 (90% off welcome/first purchase). Had them on the V1 briefly, loved them and will be using on the Q1 when it comes.

              • @pandas: Ooh I hadn't considered Temu for switches. Good use of the welcome bonus.
I'm currently into my browns but I do like a lighter linear switch.

                • +1

@theguyrules: Received the Q1 Pro Barebones yesterday and built it last night with tape mod x3 layers.

Wow - I honestly think this is my end game keyboard if nothing goes majorly wrong. Been typing on it at work all day and the extra flex with the gasket mount is awesome. Only complaint I'd say so far is the keyboard is quite tall, so I might end up needing a palm rest. Also to take note, I thought the V1 was heavy until this monster came along, will definitely give me a good work out carrying it to and from work.

Would I spend the extra ~$130 for it? If the top case on the V1 didn't start glossing; I'd probably not.

  • Any deals for Q3?

  • Bought a Q1 recently and love it.

Found out the Alice versions existed after and now the q8 and 10 are looking good to me. fml.

  • Man im hanging out for a q6 pro. I hope they release one soon.

  • Keychron is on sale at almost everywhere they're sold at so have a look at those if you don't need anything specifically from the keychron website such as plates.

  • +1

Love my keychron K1. I rate it

  • Is it worth waiting for a K2 sale or worth it at full price?
Tempted to go for it full price based on everyones comments.

    • -1

i would wait for a sale, but then again i would only buy a Q series keyboard. it is a great entry level custom board, but i already upgraded to other brands. the Q series is the gateway drug to your keyboard addiction, lol.

      • This is exactly what i was afraid of. One innocent comment turns into me lubing my own switches and getting depressed by massdrop orders.
I'll check out the Q series, thanks for the tip!

  • +1

I have a normal K4 keyboard, it's really impressive! Bluetooth and cable, two ways connection. It's also compatible with Mac and Windows. The only thing is that the keyboard is too compact, and it's easy to press the wrong arrow keys when touch typing. Unless you have a small desk and need to save space, I recommend the K4 pro or K8.

    • I thought V5 would be better for gaming but the compact layout (same as K4) really bothered me in day to day so went back to full size V6

  • Would love a deal on the Q6 if possible. Thanks

  • Can't decide between the black or silver Q1.

Has Keychron improved their colour matching? Would want a Q0 /Plus at some point, and would be immensely annoyed if the colours were off between them.

    • -2

i would go silver, black is boring and is the same colour as your logitech or razer keyboard. silver matches better with more keycaps then black.

    • No love for white? :P

  • Any deal on Q0?

  • -2

actually really good price for 99$ for a full keyboard. but otherwise id stay clear off this.

    • +1

but otherwise id stay clear off this.

      why?

      • +3

For real, why do people comment saying stuff like this without elaborating?

  • I contacted them about quite a few of their boards that were sold out, most of them ended up being discontinued. They aren't getting switches back in stock for another month

I gave up and bought a board from ROG, will come back to keychron down the track when they've got their product lines sorted

  • -2

It should be illegal to layout keys this way

    • probably best for you to stick with your work provided keyboard and mouse if you feel this way, lol.

  • Please let me know of any deals on the K2 Pro.

  • Bloody hell, just bought a K10 at MSY for $159

  • I've got a bunch and love them. No issues with Bluetooth on the K6 & K10 using iPad, Dell laptop & Sharp Android smart tv, the rest are wired:

Android Smart TV - Keychron K6 Wireless RGB Mechanical Keyboard - Gateron Brown
Work Office - Keychron K10 Wireless Mechanical Keyboard - RGB Backlight Aluminum Frame / Gateron Mechanical (Hot-swappable) / Red
Home Office - Keychron Q6 QMK Custom Fully Assembled Knob Version Mechanical Keyboard, Blue, Gateron G Pro Brown Hot-swappable Switches, Programmable Knob, Full Key
Gaming PC (Sold) Keychron V5 QMK Custom Mechanical Keyboard Fully Assembled Knob / Frosted Black (Translucent) / Keychron K Pro Red
Gaming PC - Keychron V6 QMK Custom Mechanical Keyboard Fully Assembled Knob / Frosted Black (Translucent) / Keychron K Pro Red

  • +1

Seems like a good price for a QMK/VIA board. I'm waiting for a good discount on the barebone Q60.

    • I agree, it is a fantastic budget friendly entry level custom keyboard. I started with the Q1, but have graduated to other better custom keyboards, but Q1 was definitely my gateway drug to the hobby.

  • Q2 was my first step away from a Filco and into the enthusiast space for mech keyboards and i havent used it in a year but tbh its probably the best one for daily use. Absolutely love it and customised up the wazoo.

    • really, what's your build: switches, keycaps, etc…

      • Gatron ink black v2, and GMK WOBs with the Q2.

Main KB I'm using now is Wilbas Thermal+ with some Duck Switches from Rama and some Smoke caps from Drop. Just trying to justify the cost of the purchase before i go back to my baby Q2 lol.

  • Ok that k5 se looks like my type of keyboard. But I don't need any more lol

  • I have no idea about mechanical boards, and considering getting the K10 with Brown Switches and RGB/Aluminium back plate. At $159 how does this product stack up against the likes of Logitech?

And is it worth the extra $59 for Cherry Switches?
