Nice price. Wish the price on the pliers wrench would also drop. Been waiting too long for the 2 piece set to drop again…

  • +1

Looks good but the first ones are tiny - 12.5cms

    • +8

      Great EDC size

      • +1

I edc the 100, has been fantastic

        • Do you use an EDC pouch like a Maxpedition or similar? If so, what have you found works best?

          • +2

@sobriety22: Yeah i have the ginsco universal one, paid $18 about a month ago, currently $11 on amazon, bit salty about it but at same time not really - pretty well made for the money. I wear it on my belt (hard yakka leather belt)

    • +1

The second one is even smaller at 100mm.

    • The 125s are a pretty handy size, but with all things depends what you need them for.

The 125 is better than the 100 imo. Much better leverage but still very compact

  • Now we need a case/sheath for them. Nice ones are more than double the price of the pliers themselves. : (

    • The official case is $18.45 @ Amazon JP via AU

      • Thanks!

I guess that's not too bad. Functional. The other ones I was looking at were a lot nicer. I'll put an alert to see if I can get it a little cheaper.

    • You can go for a small waist pouch for tools, like this

      AU$ ~11.00 ESPLB Multi-functional Holster

  • +3

Still have mine from 7 years ago. Still going strong even if it's seen it's fair share of scratches and knocks.

  • +1

If you have a need for the other 2 parts, get this superior set: https://www.bunnings.com.au/nws-3-piece-pro-all-round-plier-…

In tests these come out among the best of the best, yet still fairly priced.

    • +3

Good tools but completely different size. The Cobra XS fits in the fob pocket of jeans making them a convenient carry item.

    • That does look like a good set for the price

  • +7

But why EDC this? I really don't get the EDC thing. I have never been in a situation where I couldn't Macgyver something around to use. And I don't think I have ever been in a situation where I thought "Man, wish I had a tiny nut (profanity) to round this bolt"

    • +2

I work in a place where this comes in handy?

Idk about the others but I use a small edc pouch on belt, this takes up basically no extra space anyway.

      • +6

In a workplace I get it, but for just generally carrying it around with you all the time it seems way annoying.
I don't like having anything more than I need with me, which is usually a phone and one house key/car key.

    • +1

Mainly people with more disposable income than common sense who like to buy stuff.

    • +2

Most of the EDC thing is about posting pocket dump photos on instagram.

Having said that I do own more torches and pocket knives than I need and I also have been known to carry one of each around all day but not even come close to using them.

    • Outside of a small subset of people who need this stuff for work, yeah, the whole EDC idea is weird. Flashlights, leatherman tools, dedicated knives. That last one is especially weird, and maybe mostly an American affectation.

I thought it was more of a flash in the pan internet fad, didn't realise it was still a thing.

    • My EDC isn't used daily but it's good to have when you're traveling

    • +1

I use mine at op shops when I dismantle furniture or things; also carry a sog powerplier multitool, a leatherman ratchet attachment with some bits. It fits in a small wallet sized pouch I carry everywhere. Not even that heavy.

  • +2

Oh, EDC = everyday carry (DDG’d it). Why would you carry around a pliers everywhere? Or Is this at work? Wouldn’t a Leatherman / other multitool be more useful?

    • I carry the 150mm of these at work, I guess my EDC is my Work Day Carry instead lol. These, a Milwaukee utility knife with a bit holder, a small torch, a pen and a sharpie are in my pockets at all times, working as school maintenance.
If I need to do a job I'll bring the right tools for it but those things combined get me out of most things that I walk past and think (I should fix that)

  • Why edc this over a small shifter?

    • +3

These are more for pulling or holding objects rather than for tightening, i.e. have the ability to clamp. Shifters are good for tightening nuts but cannot grip objects.

  • Awesome pliers

  • +2

My EDC is a 100 piece socket set and a 12inch shammer, no room for this beta shit

    Bear mode comin thru

    • +1

      "It's shammer time!"

    • +1

My EDC is the same plus a sham-wow cloth.

      • What about a set of does it all drill bits?

ummm how can this be a bargain when the 250mm one were $33.00..?

Knipex 87 01 250 Sb Cobra High-tech Water Pump Pliers Grey Atramentized With Non-Slip Plastic Coating (Blister Packed), 250 mm - $33

So why would the tiny 100mm/125mm ones @ $28-32 be a bargain..?……. doesnt seem like much of a bargain for baby sized ones at the same price

    • Yeah, gave it some thought and canceled my order. Will wait for a repeat of the 250mm deal. Not likely to carry these little ones around, the 250mm will serve me better.

    • +6

You're always so negative about deals submitted by others, why not post some 'bargains' of your own?

      • -2

so i cant have an opinion and compare, or should i just blindly buy whatever is posted … didnt think that was a problem with finding the best deal possible or using common sense..but hey each to there own..i love the negs means im doing a great job!.. : )

        • +4

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but when all you do is complain about the efforts of others, it gets old pretty quickly.

You haven't submitted a single deal and you've only been a member for a year, perhaps try contributing to the community in a more positive way?

          • -2

            @magic8ballgag: i wasn't complaining i was actually asking, then comparing…it still doesn't make sense…Have a great day!

Not my fault if im pointing out the truth of it…

    • +2

I know right. Like how can a can of coke be a bargain at $1 when I can buy a container load of 100,000 for $80,000

      • +1

when I can buy a container load of 100,000 for $80,000

        That's a good deal at $0.80 a can,
because at Coles now, it's about $0.81 per can.

        • yes, but you need to buy 100,000 to get that price of 0.80 a can /s

        • +1

The real MVP. Arguments abound but you're no amateur, you see through it all and spy the deal. Eyes on the prize, a true ozbargainer.

    • +7

Different products for different purposes. 250mm got nice big jaws and high leverage, but can't fit them in tight spaces like these 100/125mm. When working with smaller stuff the 250mm ones also too bulky and heavy to manoeuvre handily.

I recently bought a 180mm pliers wrench to complement my 250mm

  • a question for the experts - if I want to have only ONE plier to use around the house, which size/model should I get?

  • Ive been waiting for the 45° long pliers to go on a decent sale for almost a year. They normally sit around $75 and have been down to $58 at the cheapest I've seen. $38 today. Thanks! https://amzn.asia/d/2LGMa0S

  • ive never been able to get the $0 with $x purchase recognised by Amazon Prime

    Am I doing something wrong?

  • +1

Got the 100 cos it's cuter

  • +1

    Knipex electrical pliers - https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B007C1O93Y/

    $55 might be historical low.

  • +2

Thanks OP, got myself a mini bolt cutter for half the price.

These are comically small and useless for plumbing.

    • They are also useless for sewing thread and comically large for the task.

  • Got my 87 01 125 today, but they were not blister packed. Just a loose tool. Doesn’t feel as high quality as I expected and jaws don’t line up perfectly either.
