Stumbled across this while cancelling auto-renew for my Microsoft 365 Family annual subscription (which was due 3rd August, so over a month out).

It could be targeted, and I'm not sure if it applies to monthly or non-Family license types or is renewal-date-dependant, but unfortunately there's no way for me to tell aside from posting it and see what y'all discover. Apologies if I've wasted your time, and hopefully the post meets guidelines.

Instructions to get there:
1. Go to your Microsoft account that has an active (annual?) MS 365 Family subscription currently. (You can get there from the Microsoft 365 app on your PC, or log in via www.office.com)
2. Click on your profile menu (top right) and click "My Microsoft Account"
3. Under Subscriptions, find your Microsoft 365 Family subscription and click "Manage"
2. Click "Turn off auto-renew"
3. There should be a call-to-action titled "Get two months at no additional cost" near the top of page as per the screenshot
4. Click "Extend for two months"
5. Confirm to continue, renewal date should be pushed out by 2 mths.

I'll update info based on feedback in the comments, thanks for reading.

I think this is a long running deal.

I haven't done that maths but I think the save on IT subscription packs end up cheaper still, especially when they're on sale (as they are at the moment)

        Yup, definitely go this one

        • The problem is if you're using it for storage, MS would be entirely within reason to just ban the account, locking you out of your files.

Microsoft is definitely much less liberal than Google with the ban hammer, but it's still a risk.

          • @incipient: Then sync it to your Google One account ;-)

    • Ah. I had tried looking but clearly not hard enough. Just tried again and found: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/701256

It's been over a year so this deal you posted is valid still 😉

        • That's a rule?? 😄

          • @jeremism: For long running yes. Hence why we're seeing heaps of reposts lately, as those want to get member of the month and $150.

    • Also - can stack with the Save on IT packs (I was looking at those when I stumbled on the option)

  • Can you do this every year though? Or after doing it once are they onto you? Can anyone confirm

Also possible with those on the Microsoft Workplace Discount Programme as well (30% off Annual). Mine was valid until 09/12/23.
In the Turn off Auto-Renew, this offer won't show but choose to change to Monthly payments.
Once that's done it'll take you back to the previous page. Go back into Turn off Auto-Renew and you should now see the 2 months free.
Just done this now and it has extended mine to 09/02/24. Just have to remember to add the Workplace Discount back.
Has worked a charm the last few years.

I used an prepaid credit card that had run out and it gave me 2 months

Thanks OP. Microsoft 365 personal was running out in August and I was able to extend it for 2 months!

I just got 4 Months extension 1+1+2 (unexpected) but here is how.

As I didn't have Auto Renew turned on, it only showed as offering extra 1 Month on my account which is due in 22Jul,2023 if I enabled auto-renew. I proceeded and selected to auto-renew annually and it extended by one month so would now bill in Aug23.

To get an additional month, I unsubscribed and the repeated but this time selected Monthly Auto-Renewal, and now shows next payment due Sep23.

I went to cancel the Auto-Renewal and it now showed "Get Two Months At No Additional Cost". Mmm, Ok, let me click on it and sure enough now *"Starting Tuesday, Nov21, 2023, you'll be billed every 1 month at AUD 14.00 " *.

Nice, and can't complain especially as I will buy Family from SaveOnIT and extend that way instead.

  • Didn't work for me. Shows "Switch to $14.00/month" instead

    • Don't switch, just cancel Annual subscription first. Now one can choose to renew using monthly. Nothing will charge until after date showing…..

  • I have office 365 family, I can add to my group for a very small fee

  • Thank you worked treat

  • Still works :-)

  • Oh, I didnt cancel or anything but manage subscriptions page showed me a link to extend the subscription by 2 months :)

  • Worked for me today, Thanks OP
