thks will get the hand cleanser as i have penrite copper grease for ani seize, wish solvol still did bar soap but no more now also just gels in bottles.

    • +2

Try out GritMitts soap bars. Not the cheapest, but they work great. As good as Solvol I find. There's another brand too i'm yet to try but planning to order, name eludes me however!

    • +4

      Solvol bars are discontinued?!?

Man this is not the world I was born into

    • WTF ?? I'm just using my last bar now - fantastic for cleaning paint brushes. The grit is great for getting the semi dried paint off the bristle. All I can think of now is to maybe use Gumption. A gell just doesn't work.

So I can no longer say - Wash your hands Gloria

      • You can buy on eBay for like $79 - $499 + Postage still :-P

Would go well with this (also on special).

  • Totally read this as "Permilax"

This Permatex product is not the same as the one shown in that video. They used "Permatex Aluminium Anti-Seize", this one is "Advanced Formula", this one contains Aliminium, Copper, and Graphite. I don't have any evidence, but it should perform a bit better than the one shown in the video (that was already very good).

      • Good to know! Thank you

  • Good for frozen shoulder? Those in the know, please chime in.

  • What's advantage over copper antisieze?

    • Same shiz. This one is a blend of copper, Al, graphite.

I think it's silver too unless Amazon has put the wrong image. I wouldn't worry. Does the job and will last the entire life of the rotors.

    • Difference is with sparesbox you'll get the order in 8 weeks.

      • +1

I’ve always found Sparesbox to deliver within a week to Melb

        • As someone who has placed over 10 orders in the last 6 months, unless you are oil or filters I can assure you the median is at least 5 weeks for Metro Melbourne.

          • +1

@xseta: Yes it’s usually filters, can’t recall what else but there have been other items over the years.

I guess they may have a supply issue, though admittedly I’ve not ordered anything in about a year.

            • @0jay: Give it a go, mate, it's actually turned horrible. I'm assuming they've had internal changes, there are a couple of threads about it.

              • +1

@xseta: Ok, I’ll take that onboard.

Real shame, they were my goto.

  • Ahh man I've got anti seize all over my hands and arms just reading this post!!!

  • Thanks op needed to do brake maintance on my rs3.

  • Will this work for outdoor roller blinds?
    Is it just fancy grease?

    • +3

Grease and Anti-Size are 2 completely different things.

If you have a bolt going into an engine head or a brake rotor that will eventually need to possibly be removed such as an Alternator or Brake Rotors anti seize is good cause it will stop rust occurring and well seizing that bolt into place and then being extremely difficult to remove.
Grease is great on a moving object that can seize up but generally it is being around around.

So for your roller blinds that do move possibly 1-2 times a day then grease is a better applicator, although on some bearings they actually do not even use a grease beause grease can/will collect dust and over time become a thickend paste with dirt and grime and then spread all that around and now your entire chain guide etc will need hours of cleaning.

      • Thank you for the detailed response!
I recently learned not to use WD40 but instead use silicon spray for hinges, so this is helpful

      • Posts like this are one of the benefits that make this site so valuable

  • i don't think i need that much lube, but thanks for the deal.

  • +1

I'm just imagining someone with no clue putting this on their rotors, better check the usage😊

  • Cheers OP. Been wanting to try out her backdoor, this should help.
