Samaroli is a fancy Italian indy bottler. Their stuff is expenive, but of the many I've tried, they hit more than miss. They also rarely go on sale.
I paid full price for the Linkwood—a 10 year old (first-fill?) ex-bourbon single cask bottled for The Old Barrel House with a yield of 294 bottles—and I think it great, I might buy another because I like the label and a bargain at $192.
The Caol Ila is the weird one, matured in refill bourbon and finished in Tokaji.
Tokaji is a traditional sweet wine exclusively cultivated in the wine-growing region of Tokaj, Northern Hungary. It is made exclusively from various, mostly local – white wine botrytised grapes, which are usually harvested late in the season. According to European Union regulations, only certain Hungarian Wines from the Tokaj region can officially be called ‘Tokaji’ or ‘Tokay’
There are a lot to choose from but these two have more than 10 in stock. My last post was also a Linkwood (sherry bomb) and a Coal Ila finish in Sauternes, a sweet dessert wine. Strange coincidence.
I like how the website automatically sort by highest price to lowest so I just scroll down and down and down and down and then close the tab
