Dyson website also has it for the same price, plus free delivery :)

  • Up to 20 minutes of fade free power

For me, this is beyond impressive. For a vacuum, I cannot believe lasting 20 minutes is a feature.

The Dyson concept is that you spot clean and do it often, rather than doing big weekly vacuum jobs.

Doing more than 20 minutes of pushing a heavy stick is not enjoyable, putting a bigger battery in it would only make it less so.

But S2 can only endure 60 minutes of vacuuming, so that's an hour to spare right?

        • So can the newer Dyson cordless vacuums, but its easy to get long times if you just turn down the suction power.

          • @ATangk:

if you just turn down the suction power.

set it to 'Basically Useless' (aka 'wouldn't bother floating dust') Mode for best runtimes!

            • @andresampras: Yeah i dont agree man tile floors and stuff the eco mode works great in my experience

              • @Chiken: my comment was made with tongue firmly in cheek. Right up in there.

I use my dyson like you do - standard mode is good for floors and small rugs, Max mode for carpet.

      • I honestly didn't know this Dyson concept. It sounds like a hand mop could achieve similar results.

For me, this is beyond impressive

It's not really, it's very weak suction and switching to "max" mode makes the suction slightly better, way louder and lasts 5-6 mins.

The Dyson concept is that you spot clean and do it often, rather than doing big weekly vacuum jobs.

I'd argue that Dyson's concept is to make you want that vacuum cleaner and the rest ("spot clean") is because these vacuums can't pick up much.

In practice it's true that they're convenient and the do pick up something, but their power doesn't compare to any wired vacuum.

      • as with most tech, as it improves it'll get better and eventually people will wonder how anyone managed to vacuum whilst physically tethered to the wall.

think of right now as a period of flux.

I think it was a sarcastic comment saying 20 minutes is something to brag about.

Thanks for elaborating. My ability to be funny and score internet points sucks as much as my 20 minute fade free power.

    • Up to 20 minutes of fade free power1

Good thing the batteries are interchangeable but the spares are $129

      1. In Eco mode when using a non-motorised tool

20 mins battery life is only for car vacuum

  • Forget hard floors, on pure vac power/performance, do you buy this 2022 Dyson, or a Dyson v7 or v8 from 2018/17 … ?

I used code DYSCASH25 on the Dyson website to get another $25 off. Brings it down to $369

    • Doesn't work for me 😭😭, maybe this code has expired?
