What's The Best Current Credit Card Bonus Deal? June 23

Hey

https://www.finder.com.au/nab-qantas-rewards-premium-credit-…

https://www.finder.com.au/suncorp-clear-options-platinum-cre…

These 2 look reasonable, as in low min spend, decent annual fee etc

Doesn't look like many options.

Prefer a card with 2-3k spend to hit points, and under $150 annual fee.

Lots of cards at 60k points, $99 fees.

No really stand out cards currently.

rwrds.com.au is what I use to check current deals

    • Best site Thank you!!

If you don't care about flights, the ANZ black or the Suncorp Platinum is the best for getting gift cards.

I don't really use gift cards, and I'd prefer to get points for flights.

Mainly Qantas, tho I still have 240k Krisflyer & 110k Velocity.

I'm not sure how much I'll travel, but I feel the points are worth more to me than gift cards.

    • Citi premier is also great for gift cards

Current offer is $250 cashback after a $1000 spend within 3 months.

That's an average of $333.33 per month.

No monthly fee if you spend more than $300 per month.

Don't keep it afterwards, you don't earn any points. Unless you really like CommBank Rewards and get really good value out of it.

I currently have Commbank Ultimate Rewards, but I plan to cancel that.

That's a good card for $250, but 70,000 points is worth $700+(more value with business+ flights).

I'm not a crazy flipper, I know some people do 10+ a year. I've only done 1 this year so far :/

      • We’re similar! I took the CBA Ultimate as well, planning to close it soon. Literally looking for a good new credit card promo all morning, good thing I saw your post. There seems to be not much good promotions on QFF, will try to wait it out a bit, so I might go for the ANZ Rewards Black @Vulgar mentioned above (gift cards not QFF though, cos I realised I’ll be spending more on shopping locally in the coming month).

  • I’m after velocity points at the moment and virgin (high) flyer and NAB rewards platinum are great.

Also try Medibank private for 3 months (6 weeks free) to get 150k points, assuming you trust their data handling.

    • Sounds too good to be true? Switching is a pain, but 150k points for 3 months?

      • Minimum premium is $130/week but if you factor in the free period, it’s $70/week. Look up the offer. Ends June I think. Switching is so easy, the funds talk to each other

Thats insane costs tho, I use to pay $150 a month! It scares me now that some people pay $450 a month for health insurance. I think I would rather go public health! LOL

I wonder when I return to Bupa, is they screw me over on price tho after the 3 months!

          • @[Deactivated]: If you’ve been on a plan for a while, like we were for several years before Medibank, the plan will be closed for new memberships. It’s unlikely you’ll get the same deal once you move out and return.

            • @soan papdi: And they're the issue lies, you may get the points but for the rest of my life potentially I'm going to be paying higher monthly fees.

So therefore over time it's going to cost me more than the points value? :/

              • @[Deactivated]: You can have a browse of plans now that charge $150/mo. I doubt there’s anything above Bronze, if that. A lot of these plans are aimed at those who want avoid the Medicare levy surcharge, so don’t offer much.

        • +1

So basically you're paying a total of $780 (3 months of Medibank Health Insurance) to get 150,000 Velocity Points.

          • +1

@graceyym: Essentially yes. We were already paying $200 a month for just hospital and thankfully never had to use it. I am chasing velocity points at the moment, had to get some new glasses and dental work done. Might as well switch. We will churn after receiving the points.

            • @soan papdi: Might be a really silly question, If Im with HCF & claimed my glasses for the year under my current cover, then suddenly switch to Medibank, I'd be able to claim glasses again right (after the waiting period if any).

              • @graceyym: The funds tell each other what benefits you’ve claimed over the calendar year. If your HCF plan gave you $100 for glasses (and it’s used up) and Medibank gives you $200 for glasses in the plan you choose, you’ll only be eligible to use the remaining $100 with Medibank in this calendar year. It’ll reset to $200 on January 1st 2024.

          $130/week
          WTF
Well you're essentially buying the points in that case - $5k spend over the year, jesus

          • +1

@Drakesy: We won’t stay for a year, will churn after 3 months. Also the extra we are paying isn’t that much compared to what we were on earlier (200/mo versus 280/mo factoring in the free 6 weeks)

  • Yep the two you just listed are the best value for money atm (outside of ANZ Rewards black).

I just took out the NAB one as it's slightly better value.

    • I think the other has free travel insurance?

Earn rate higher on NAB, and I recall NAB approving fast!

Credit card bonuses are in a big downward trend at the moment.

Most banks are cutting the size of bonuses (eg Amex, ANZ), upping annual fees (eg Westpac/StG/BoM), increasing wait periods between bonuses (eg NAB) or disappearing altogether (eg NAB planning to shut down Citi cards later this year).

    • this, everything is just so dire for the cost of churning.

  • What's the best Qantas earning credit card atm (as well as bonus on sign-up)?

  • NAB Rewards Card. 100,000 Velocity points. $195.00 Annual fee.

  • St george as an existing customer (make free transaction acc), $49 annual fee (can be refunded if you cancel after receiving points). So essentially 60k points free after spending 3k.

Another good one is ANZ if you are able to do 6k spend (and get annual fee refunded).

Unfortunately now the beem+bpay loophole has been closed it's harder to meet minimum spending requirements without paying extra fees on top.

    • Do you have any info/link for the St George option?

  • I applied for the NAB QANTAS CC, it took around 10-15 minutes and I was approved within 5 minutes after I completed the application.

I logged onto NAB banking to double check if I need to upload any documents, and it said COMPLETED.

    Very easy!

    • Was the $295 fee waved?

      • ? No it's reduced to $150

      • I should add, I have no been charged any CC FEE.

I am on month 2, nothing has showed up so maybe they waved the fee? Tho I never saw anything about this.

  • Anyone know if Suncorp or Westpac has the easiest application?

NAB was so quick, approved in 15 minutes & card in 4-5 days.
