Thanks, dealbot. Really appreciate your work here and FB

      Where's the fb page?

  • +8

Just for those wondering, you can swap to Woolies gift cards too

    • Everyone*

    • Can the woolies gift card be added to the Everyday Rewards app for payment with the QR code? I bought one once through one of these sites that wouldn't let you add it so had to use it manually from my Wallet app.

      • +2

Yes, I just added it to Everday Pay Wallet.

        • Thanks got one

          • @thestig: I find the Essentials card more convenient. It works online and in store at more places & yes, can also be added to EDR wallet

            • +1

@nismo: Who does discounted Essentials cards (and what discount?) PITA having to split purchases now between Woolies @ 4%, Wish @ 3% for fuel and the odd Big W @ 5%

Much easier back in the days of 5% discounted Wish cards (if you haven't got access to a senior in VIC or NSW now)

              • @bamzero: Prezee has them, hence my comment in this deal. Otherwise I get them from racv 4% off.

                • @nismo: Ah ok. RAC WA doesn't do Essentials, nor any of the others I have access to unfortunately.

For this deal better to get Wish though, Essentials + BWS and Dans.

              • @bamzero: Wow TIL that seniors get a better discount - thank you

            • @nismo: What is the advantage of the Essentials card over the Wish card?

              • @davedave: The only advantage is that it is sold for a bigger discount everyday through RACV (4%) when compared with the WISH gift card (3%).

                The drawbacks are:

                • It is not accepted as a payment method at BWS, Dan Murphy’s nor ALH Group venues.

                • You cannot use it to pay for certain items sold at Woolworths, BIG W or EG Ampol (e.g. tobacco, home brew products, motor oil and lubricants).

              • +1

@davedave: My comment is comparing Ess vs the Woolies gc, that was the topic (not Wish).

If you can get Wish for the same discount, then get Wish.

                Most platforms are:
                Wool 4%
                Ess 4%
                Wish 3%

                Just check the gc wiki
                https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/discounted_egift_cards

Edit: beaten by the master 😁

                • @nismo: Haha sorry!

I will say you are lucky to be able to purchase a discounted Essentials gift card via RACV. I tried doing this via RACT and NRMA last night, but I got error messages saying I needed to log out of my account before being able to see the Essentials gift card page.

    • *Wish card

  • Is there any difference between those 3 gift of the day GCs?

    • you don't have to choose from that 3. Any card on that page is fine.

      • All those cards are the same thing right (super swap equivalent)?

        • +3

I believe so. Better than shopback super swap as Wish/WW is included.

          • @AsukaST: Yeh think so. Think was Splurge card I randomly picked, swapped for Wish.

    • -1

A thank you would be nice. Please don't spread salt! Btw anyone can make a mistake.

    • mine showed : This promo code is invalid, please check it and try again.
how can we got 5$ off? or we paid 75 first then receive the 5$ later.

      • +2

Use the prezzee app, choose a gc, set value to $75 add promo code then pay $70.

        • +1

          u the best mate. thanks

  • is there a limit per account?

    • +1

No limit, can add the discount code the second time round

      • getting error after buying a few times regardless payment method, I've tried paypal as well as credit card.

        • +3

I paid direct using the card details option. Purchased 2 so far on the same account, and can enter again for the third time

          • @BargainsGrabber: I can too but are there consequences for doing so when it says limit is 1?

            • @sub102: What consequence? Sure someone already converted to Amazon or eBay and spent

            • +1

@sub102: They locked my account on my attempt to buy a 4th purchase. I then tried 3 different methods to understand if it was payment or platform locked. I was provided a phone number to call them, which I will do for kicks and giggles to understand why they shop don’t want to sell to customers :)

              • @Markusaus: I got "We were not able to process your order as we could not validate your billing details" when trying to make a 5th one. But they already charged me $70 for the 5th purchase.

                • @FatTofu: Yeah i also see pending purchases on my cc from my attempts with paypal, but not those directly attempted with my cc. I expect they will be reversed, but I will happily accept the giftcards instead

                  • @Markusaus: I'm using Coles prepaid card and wonder if there is a way to dispute when I don't receive the gift card.

  • Do those different type of cards even matter? They all seem to have the same list of redeemable stores

  • my coles master cards are running low…..

    • Digital or physical cards? I've got several $250 digital Mastercards I want to get rid of for less than face value but not sure how to do it

      • just use it to buy some coles/wws gift card, unless you don't shop there at all.

        • +1

Do you buy the coles/wws physical gift cards through Prezzee or giftcards.com.au?

          • @x x: eGift card will do, you don't need physical cards at coles/wws.

            • @ce5himm: But how do you pay at the coles/ww checkout with a digital card? I can't tap and pay. I only have the digital card number, expiry and CVV

              • @x x: Are you asking how to pay using a digital Coles Mastercard gift card instore at Coles / Woolworths, or are you asking how to pay using a digital Coles / Woolworths gift card instore at Coles / Woolworths?

The previous commenter was suggesting you use your digital Coles Mastercard gift cards to purchase digital Coles / Woolworths gift cards, then use those on instore purchases at Coles / Woolworths (at least for instore purchases where you are not purchasing a gift card).

                • @WookieMonster: I have these $250 Coles digital Mastercards which I thought can only be used online at Coles, Coles Express, Myer, Target, Kmart, Liquorland, Vintage Cellars, First Choice LiquorMarket, Officeworks:
                  https://www.giftcards.com.au/ShoppingCart/ProductDetail/CG_C…

So how do I convert them to physical Mastercards that I can use in store to pay at the checkout? Can I buy the physical Coles digital Mastercards online from Coles. It's quite confusing, I think the balance can only be checked at one of these websites, not sure if they're for Prezzee cards or something else:
                  https://www.mybalancenow.com/#/
                  https://www.giftcards.com.au/CheckBalance

                  • +2

@x x: The digital Coles Mastercard gift cards are prepaid Mastercard gift cards that can only be used at merchants accepting card-not-present transactions (i.e. transactions where you only need to provide a card number, expiry date, CVV2) from prepaid Mastercard gift cards. It is not restricted to Coles Group / Wesfarmers stores, despite the Coles branding on it. It is also not issued by Coles Group, despite the Coles branding on it; it instead is issued by Heritage Bank on behalf of InComm.

I am not sure what made you think that digital Coles Mastercard gift cards could only be redeemed at Coles Group / Wesfarmers stores, because the description on the product page you linked before says this:

Digital Account may be used online, over the phone or through mail order everywhere Mastercard® is accepted.

https://www.mybalancenow.com/ is where you check the balance of a Coles Mastercard gift card.

https://www.giftcards.com.au/CheckBalance is ehere you chrck the balance of gift cards issued by Coles Group (e.g. Coles gift card, Coles Group & Myer gift card, Officeworks gift card, Kmart gift card, Target gift card).

To use a digital Coles Mastercard gift card for card-present transactions (so you can use them to purchase physical Coles Mastercard gift cards at a physical Coles supermarket), you need to first use your digital Coles Mastercard gift card to purchase a prepaid gift card that can support card-presentations and can be used at a supermarket. Keep in mind that a lot of online gift card portals will not accept digital Coles Mastercard gift cards, because they are not tied to a cardholder whose identity has been verified, plus they do not support tools some online gift card portals use to check whether the verified cardholder is the one who is initiating the transaction (e.g. 3-D Secure). You may need to link the digital Coles Mastercard gift card to a PayPal account first to get around this…

My suggestion is to look at Giftz.com.au or Card.Gift to see whether you can find a solution that works for you. You will need access to a supported mobile wallet, so if you don't, you are basically out of luck. Keep in mind that Blackhawk Network enforces redemption limits when trying to use Activ Visa gift cards at supermarkets (e.g. no more than $400 on a gift card per day)…

If this all sounds like too much hassle, you can use your digital Coles Mastercard gift card to pay for other things through card-not-present transactions, as long as the merchant accepts them directly (or PayPal). For example, you could pay off any ATO debts, purchase other types of gift cards (e.g. WISH gift cards, Coles gift cards, Apple gift cards, Amazon gift cards), pay down or prepay utilities accounts, insurance (where accepted), etc.

                    • @WookieMonster: Thanks for all this info, it makes things a bit clearer but there's still a lot of mucking around. Hopefully they can figure out a way to make the process smoother in the future. I've bought physical Coles branded Mastercards (debit cards) in the past from Coles and was able to use them anywhere that Mastercard was accepted (fuel, groceries at Aldi, Amazon online etc). I was able to check my balance for the physical Mastercards at https://www.mybalancenow.com/ but the website hasn't been working the past 2x days so I'll call them Monday. I keep getting this error when entering the details of my digital Mastercards:
                      https://i.imgur.com/oZXLXko.png

                      • +2

@x x: I tried checking the balance of one of my digital Coles Mastercard gift cards by manually entering it into the balance check website, but it did not work. When I opened the gift card from the original purchase email, it worked. I am not sure whether you can manually check the balance of a digital Coles Mastercard gift card on that website…

I will also mention that I tried to check the balance of a digital Coles Mastercard gift card over the phone, but the automated phone service said the card details provided were invalid.

                        • @WookieMonster: Thanks, clicking on the gift card link from my purchase email also worked for me. It also let me see this 4 digit code so that I can get it activated in Paypal: https://i.imgur.com/mUYoFWj.png

So now I've got some digital Coles Mastercard gift cards activated in Paypal but they don't allow you to withdraw them as cash and transfer into your bank account. Looks like I can only use them to purchase things online, something which the digital Coles Mastercard gift cards also do so there's no real benefit adding them to your Paypal acc.

Would be great to figure out a way to convert these cards to cash but I don't think it's possible. I was able to add the cards to my Amazon acc and KFC/McDonalds app for payment so that's something. I'll also buy some physical Coles Mastercard gift cards from Prezzee which I can use at the Coles checkout. I got 10x $250 cards so I'll spread them around. Sounds like @vodamerc has sussed it out with the IG account. I had a look in Commsec but there's no way to add funds or pay down a margin loan using Paypal funds.

                          • +2

                            @x x:

That is probably a good thing.

The last thing PayPal would want to do is to open up an easy route for people to obtain cash from a financial product that is not linked to a verified cardholder, because of AML/CTF concerns. AUSTRAC earlier this year agreed to an enforceable undertaking from PayPal to ensure it remains complaint with AML/CTF requirements, so you can bet that PayPal really does not want to people to use its service for nefarious reasons…

Some people have said they been able to send payments to another PayPal account, using Coles Mastercard gift cards as the payment source. I never told you that…

Looks like I can only use them to purchase things online, something which the digital Coles Mastercard gift cards also do so there's no real benefit adding them to your Paypal acc.

The benefit of linking a Coles Mastercard gift card to a PayPal account is to be able to use it at merchants that do not want to accept Coles Mastercard gift cards directly.

                            For example:

                            • I tried directly using a Coles Mastercard gift card on Prezzee earlier this week and its payment processor (Stripe, I think?) rejected the card. However, when I linked the Coles Mastercard gift card to PayPal and tried again on Prezzee using PayPal, it worked.

                            • Card.Gift cancels most orders paid for with prepaid gift cards (including Coles Mastercard gift cards). To be fair, Card.Gift can be sometimes overzealous with the orders it chooses to cancel…

                            • The Woolworths Group gift card portal will refuse to process any payments from Coles Mastercard gift cards.

                            • +1

@WookieMonster: Thanks mate, great info. I just encountered the same problem you had - Prezzee rejected my payment of a gift card using a digital Coles Mastercard gift card, but it was accepted when using the same Coles Mastercard gift card linked to Paypal acc.

Quick question, what happens when you have a bunch of these cards with low balances remaining. How do you spend the entire card. Do you have to find an option to do mixed payments to use up the remaining funds?

                              • +2

                                @x x:

I use them to top up public transport cards, and I also use them up at merchants that happily let me do split payments instore (e.g. Coles, Woolworths, BIG W, Target, Kmart, Dan Murphy’s, JB Hi-Fi).

For any balances above $5, I also sometimes purchase a discounted Woolworths gift card via the Woolworths Group gift card portal (via PayPal), ensuring that the cost of the Woolworths gift card is exactly the amount left on the prepaid gift card.

I know some other people send small payments to their utilities accounts (e.g. electricity, gas, water), either directly or via Post Billpay online.

      • I cashed out 10k worth through IG for only 1% fee

        • what is IG mate?

          • @Chausle: A share trading platform

            • @vodamerc: i see - can i use on binance

              • +2

@Chausle: No its shares not crypto. I just topped up my balance via PayPal and withdrew straight away though.

                • @vodamerc: But how do you use a digital Coles Mastercard debit card and deposit the balance into your IG account, and then withdraw from your Paypal account? I'm about to create an IG account but want to check how you do it. Thanks, I've got 9x $250 cards to cash out

                  • +1

@x x: deposit via the linked Coles card on paypal and withdraw back to PayPal balance. Which is withdraw-able to bank account.

                    • @vodamerc: So I don't need an IG acc to cash out? You're saying I can deposit my Coles digital mastercard credit into my Paypal acc? I thought these digital cards can only be used at these websites:
                      Coles
                      Coles Express
                      Myer
                      Target
                      Kmart
                      Liquorland
                      Vintage Cellars
                      First Choice LiquorMarket
                      Officeworks

                      • +1

@x x: No. You can link the cards to PayPal, then use them to pay anywhere PayPal is accepted. In this case, IG.

                        • @vodamerc: Thanks mate i'll give it a try

                        • @vodamerc: Hi I've added some of these digital Coles $250 Mastercards cards to my Paypal account but I can't activate them because it's asking me to check my statement for the code when they do a micro transaction. How are you able to check the code on your statement for these cards if they don't issue a statement? Thanks for any info

@x x: I didn’t have that problem. You shouldn’t need to. I’m pretty sure that’s only for a higher spending limit.

                          • @x x: Is this your only card in Paypal Wallet?
perhaps you need to add some regular Australian bank's debit/credit card first.
Paypal needs to confirm your identity first.
Also try to add a bank account.

How the (profanity) did u come up with that..? Scheme and a half :o to extrapolate maximum cash bonus value through promotions. I'm too new to this. Thought I was doing well using random promotions, flubuys 10k pts, everyday extra boosts/deals/10%off shops, purchasing during promo periods, etc. Not even using shop back or any other similar promo and I see this eg - really creative!

Link it to Paypal. Then pay with Paypal.

      • Where do you link in PayPal app? I tried linking under link bank accounts and cards and it failed

        • Just before you make a purchase on Prezzee, you can link the card. Choose Paypal as payment method and when you get to the "Pay With" screen there should be an option to add a new card. Highlighted in yellow. https://i.imgur.com/qSYbpNa.png
