Question Answer
1. Is Boost operated by Telstra network? Yes, on the full Telstra network
2. Does Boost support 5G? Yes, for all Boost prepaid customers and it is currently on trial until 3 April 2023
From 4 April 2023, 5G network access will be included as standard on your service and we’ll be introducing capped download speed caps on our 4G and 5G networks
3. Does Boost support e-SIM? Sadly not at this stage. However there are plans to do so
4. Do you have to activate the SIM within 30 days? Every Cashrewards Boost cashback up to and including March 31 has been approved (confirmed by TA) - provided you activated within 30 days of order
5. How long is the SIM expiry? Usually 1 year, but to qualify for cashback the SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering
6. It is showing “new customer” on Boost website. What does this mean? New customer term is only for the additional Boost data, and nothing to do with the cashback offer
7. Can I receive international text message (aka int. roaming) with this SIM by default? Yes, you can receive SMS while overseas, but can’t send outgoing to Australia
8. How long does it take to receive the SIM? According to the Boost Rep: Once dispatched, you should receive your order within the following business days: Metro Areas – 2-5 business days for capital cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart & Brisbane (order before 4pm). Non Metro or Regional / remote areas – 3-7 business days
9. Is porting in a Telstra number to Boost considered a "new customer"? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Porting a number from Telstra to Boost is definitely considered a new customer
10. Are you able to purchase multiple plans using different names / ID (or can I purchase 4 x plans for the family using my own details)? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Received clarification from the team and this is a tricky one since for compliance the terms is showing the customer is only allowed 1 sim per transaction but he can buy multiple SIMs and then activate them all under his name and he will then be able to manage all the numbers when he logs into the App with his Boost ID.
11. Information on what to do when the "please try again later" message comes up List of indicators that can affect how your order is flagged in different financial systems, which can hopefully help you understand what is going wrong
12. Can this be used to recharge? No, this is a starter pack. Using as a "recharge" is being dis-allowed and activating first and moving the number may be allowed but is frowned upon and may not be allowed in future depending on how you ask for it.

Enjoy!

Looks good deal, however must be activated within 30 days…

    • same, have to wait next deal

      • +5

The next deal will cost a lot more because of the price increases. This is your last opportunity to get a deal at this price.

    • 30 days from purchase date I guess due to cashback? Asking because my primary number is due end of next month, so wanted to wait till last date. Cheers

Literally just ordered two sims through Shopback this morning because it was $22 and Cashrewards was $20. NOOOOOOO.
    Lost out on $6!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Me too!

  • I have been using coles mobiles that gives 60gb data, 365 days calling national and international (limited to 14 countries) and unlimited texts.

That costed $120, but now due for renewal and got a 20% discount. So it is $96 for an year

      Yeah, but Optus.

lm already with boost 365 plan & it ends 27 July ?So I could port out to say aldi mobile then couple of days later port back with this deal does anyone know if that works as Aldi uses Telstra .

someone asked about this last time and the answer was yes I believe.

      • Ok thanks I'll look through older comments.

        • +1

Be warned, I used to do this every year but they've caught on. You'll be told that it's not supported anymore (after the recharge) and continuing to do it will lead to your account being suspended. I'm on my last 365 day plan after which I'll switch to the normal month-to-month.

          • @Jai: Dame that's typical of Telstra I don't know if they would have any chance doing that legally as you are disconnecting from the service contract then starting a new contract and thanks for the heads up .

    • It used to occasionally cause issues porting in/out from different Telstra network resellers but the general consensus is that it's mostly fixed. I usually port between carriers out of habit still. amaysim &/or lebara usually have a Sim for a few bucks on promo at colesworth.

    • Don't port out, just chat online and they will be able to transfer the number to new sim.

      • Hey thanks I'll try that im buying the sim online from boost now to get CB also .

        • +1

check if you have spend $10 get $10 from CB as well.

  • what happen if the card if activate after 4/7 ?

    • I believe it's still honoured, but still needs to be within 30 days

    • 130gb? or on the new plan with 160gb?

      • I asked a customer service representative, who confirmed that if you activate the $200 sim from 4 July you will be on the old plan with 130GB of data.

  • My current boost plan not sit until November. Any tricks on this?

    • Wait till October . Surely will have another sale

  • Guys - need help
Have been with boost for 2yrs
1st year was great but this year (last 9mths) been moderate / OK
Not sure whats going on - are you guys experiencing the same thing? Connection can be quick but can be super slow at times
    Sydney CBD if that matters…..

    • Yes seems a few people have experienced the same.

    • Yeah, was in Sydney CBD last week and mobile data speed were horrendous. I couldn't get pages to load. Once I got away from CBD it was OK.

Maybe too many people in CBD are connecting to telstra network and the network throttled.

      • This is a Telstra problem, not boost. I’m on direct Telstra and my wife is on Boost. when too many people in the cbd (new year, vivid etc) we both lose data. Calls work but no internet.

  • I'm currently with Boost which is finising on 4th July. If i but this SIM is it still possible to keep the same number and just apply the credit to existing number?

    • I read the best thing to do is port out then back in.

If your phone supports Esim, i see the best way to do this is to download the Optus app and don't login, tap "connect digital Esim", and choose a $7 flex plan which includes a 7-day free trial. Then, port back to boost with the boost starter pack you bought via the deal on this page, cancelling the Optus free trial. Since there is no mention of new customer in the deal on this page, I see no issue.

    • Have an online chat and they will be able to sort this out for you. You don't need to port out at all.

  • 2.5 months left, blah. Might try Woolies if I can't find another deal by then.

  • Thanks OP. Finally pulled the trigger.

  • I ported my boost number now to Optus, using the 30$ SIM for 10$ from Woolies. Makes more sense to me to actually use the other SIM for a bit then just getting the 5$ Aldi one and those 5$ are then completely burned.

  • Why is Boost web site so shite !!!! Start entering address, comes up in dropdown, select it, tells me it can't find my address & to fill it in manually. Fill it in manually fill in all other details then click NEXT, repeatedly get "can't find address enter manually" and it just won't go away !!!! FFS !!!! Worked ok a month ago for wife's sim !!!!

  • I'm returning to Australia July 6th. Does this SIM need to be activated before July 4th, or just within 30 days of me ordering to get the cashback?

      1. Do you have to activate the SIM within 30 days? Every Cashrewards Boost cashback up to and including March 31 has been approved (confirmed by TA) - provided you activated within 30 days of order
      2. How long is the SIM expiry? Usually 1 year, but to qualify for cashback the SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering
