350

Hey Oz Bargain Community,

Due to popularity, our Colombia Cauca Single Origin recently sold out at lightning speed. You speak, we listen, so get excited because I'm so happy to announce that we've been able to secure a bit more of this fantastic Single Origin for you!

To celebrate us securing some additional supply, we're offering you a 40% discount off our wildly popular Colombia Cauca Single Origin, only $12.47 per 400g (usually $20.79 per 400g), and $22.07 per 800g (usually $36.78 per 800g)

Deal valid for orders placed until 22/06/2023, unless sold out before. You can pick from the available green circle dispatch dates on the cart page. Dispatch can happen for you as near as Monday and as far as the last Thursday in July. Once a given dispatch date is at full capacity the green circle will be removed and date will turn red, first in best dressed :)

Some helpful info:

  • Pro rata cost per gram is exactly the same as when we used to have 500g and 1kg sizes available e.g. Colombia Cauca Single Origin 500g @ 40% discount = $15.59 x 80% = 400g @ 40% discount $12.47 and 1kg @ 40% discount = $27.59 x 80% = 800g @ 40% discount $22.07
  • You're welcome to place multiple orders scheduled for dispatch at various dates (delayed dispatch) to make the most of this deal, we strive to dispatch our fresh coffee within 48 business hours of roasting
  • One dispatch per order
  • All bags are resealable
  • Unlike some of our other products where you select quantity and then packaging size, for this deal the quantity selected is also equal to the packaging size e.g. 400g is a 400g bag, so if you'd like 800g in 400g bags add 400g to your cart, then on the cart page increase quantity from 1 to 2, to see an updated price on the cart page simply click the refresh button, it's near the checkout button and looks like letter C with an arrow "⟳"
  • Complimentary gift notes can be written in the designated space on the cart page

Following the success of our recent trials of new shipping rates, we've decided to extend these for this deal too :)
FREE SHIPPING for orders over $69. Here's two examples to get you over the $69 threshold via this deal, we recommend freezing any excess bags purchased to quality for free shipping; 6x400g Colombia = $74.82 or 4x400g Colombia + 1x800g Colombia = $71.95

  • Have enjoyed the other Columbia one in the past, so bought 2 kg to try, thanks OP.

    • Wonderful to hear, thank you so much for another order and sharing that terrific feedback, it's truly appreciated!

  • I assume this is a good one for capps & lattes?

    • +1

Nice assumption @The Judge I can confirm this SO works extremally well for both milk based and black coffees :)

  • Hoping there'll be a Sao Paulo SO deal soon.

    • +1

Hey @muddrex appreciate the check in!

I'm sure there'll be another Brazil deal at some point in the future, but we tend to focus on one deal at a time, so at present I don't know when it'll be or what the deal will looks like yet :)

  • What's with the Shrinkflation though?
What were 500g and 1kg bags are now 400g and 800g..

    • +4

Morning @OzViper never hurts to ask, appreciate the double check. Good news is shrinkflation is not at play, these new sizes actually mean you can get over 10% in additional savings on top of the 40% deal!

As per our prior deal " As promised if we got to the next delivery contract volume level we'd be in a position to further reduce our flat rate shipping rates for you. I will admit it was a challenge to get there, but we're so happy we did. A few unique points to this specific deal. For the first time ever there's an opportunity for free shipping. Delivery companies have implemented new sorting machine with different weight thresholds. 1kg of coffee used to cost us 1kg shipping weight. Now 1kg coffee (plus 20-50 grams of packaging) costs us 3kg shipping weight. We've requested more reasonable delivery cost weight brackets (big jump from 1kg to 3kg) e.g. to the nearest 500g or charge pro rata by the gram, but they won't budge. To combat this, as a trial specific to this deal, coffee quantity increment increases are 400g instead of 500g and 800g instead of 1kg. Don't worry there's no pro rata extra cost to you, e.g. Colombia Cauca Single Origin 500g @ 40% discount = $15.59 x 80% = 400g @ 40% discount $12.47 and 1kg @ 40% discount = $27.59 x 80% = 800g @ 40% discount $22.07. Even though our packaging/time costs increase with these new increments, our shipping cost savings from the overcharge delivery company weight brackets outweighs these extra costs."

In a nutshell, the per gram price has not changed from 500g and 1kg bag. The different increment sizes mixed with new delivery company contract negations has enabled us to test lower shipping costs for customers and for the first time ever a "free shipping with min spend" option. This free shipping equates to over 10% in additional cost savings to customers. It's not 100% decided to permanently change quantity increments, this is just a follow up test after the success of our other 400g, 800g, free and reduced shipping tests. We always do testing before making any significant changes, letting customers do the talking with their orders. So far the data indicates people are open to switching to 400g and 800g bags to get free/reduced shipping. Plus the extra bonus of smaller bag sizes making it easier to keep coffee fresh for longer and mix and match different products in a given order :)"

      • +2

The free shipping threshold is still too high to justify the reduced package size IMO.
As is the $1-$2 reduction in shipping, as we will be ordering more frequently now..

        • +2

Completely appreciate your feedback and that you may feel a certain way. However, we had to try something different as the extra shipping pro rata over a year was not sustainable without increasing the coffee prices, shipping and reducing offerings. The extra shipping costs to us for 500g and 1kg bags sizes was the equivalent of a full time salary AKA in a year from now on the prior track we'd have one less team member than with the new track we're currently testing.

We put our best foot forward, so at present with the current system $69 is the min viable basket size for free shipping. If ordering more frequently doesn't suit you, you're able to simply order more less frequently and store the extra in your freezer to maintain freshness, extra bonus is order a 10% additional saving if you end up going for the free shipping option. I understand the new system may be an adjustment for you and people aren't always keen about change no matter how slight. So the short-term easy choice would have been to keep 500g and 1kg bags options and not even try 400g and 800g. However, if we see a growing issue that will damage our company viability longer-term if not addressed and we chose to ignore it/bury our heads in the sand out of short-term fear. Rather than work on a solution for long-term viability, we believe that's a fast track approach to any company going out of business. If the data showed these new quantities wouldn't work at all, then we'd try a different solution, but recent data indicates over time these new quantities will be embraced. Point being, if we see an issue, we'll face it head on and try various solutions until we find the right one, rather than letting the issue build into an unmanageable situation :)

      • This isn't exactly true…Shipping hasn't been reduced pro-rata and therefore the cost of my 500/400g order has increased by ~7%.

You justify the change well and it's completely understandable from a cost savings point of view, but don't claim everyone is saving from this change. You guys are saving and possibly anyone doing large orders (which is also to your benefit).

        • +3

Appreciate the follow up feedback @HomebrewFC

If there has been any less than clear wording in my explanation, my apologies and please allow me to clarify further here. I am not saving every order automatically saves money on every shipping option. I'm saying every customer can save money with the new system. The 10%+ saving on pro rata per gram price including delivery applies when someone qualifies for free shipping. Other savings are flat rate Australia Post $8.99 to $7.99 which is a 11% saving and Express Post $12.99 to $9.99 23.1% saving comparatively speaking just to the shipping costs. Even with this new system on average we we're still subsiding the shipping costs to customers by a double digit percentage. One way or another a change had to happen. Maintaining the exact prior system with the new shipping costs to us was simply not financially viable over time. It was a choice of either testing this current system or maintaining 500/1kg with some combination of increasing per gram price, increasing shipping, reducing variety offerings and also not offering a free shipping option. I can appreciate this solution we're testing may not be ideal for everyone, but also understand that people are so diverse there is not a single perfect solution to suit everyone. We're doing our best to come up with something that suits the vast majority of customers. Believe me we wouldn't be making these changes unless we really had to address the issue moving forward.

Once again thank you for your feedback :)

          • +1

@LimeBlueCoffee: But why not make the new weights 900g and 450g. At least the customer would still get close to the previous weights and you would still save money on shipping by having a sufficient tolerance to not be overcharged?

            • +1

@MS Chris: Good suggestion - I'd rather the 50g in coffee over the beloved TimTam as well unfortunately.

              • +1

@HomebrewFC: Thanks @MS Chris and @HomebrewFC for additional input, customer feedback is very healthy for us and is always acknowledged in any decisions we make and testing we do!

So you are correct that 900g would work at present. However, 450g would not as it's too close to the bone, regardless of the Tim Tam with the current packaging. As such it would end up 900g and 400g, which does not multiple in line with our normal ordering option e.g. 400g x 2 ≠ 900g. Additionally we've been working on creating some unique game changing packing, still a work in progress to see if it's even possible to manufacture at present, which may mean 900g does not work in the future from a shipping weight/cost perspective. We're really keen to limit the amount of buying behaviour changes for customers e.g. don't want to say 1kg to 900g and then in a few month say 900g is now 800g. Hence why we decided to test the even numbers of 400g and 800g :)

                • @LimeBlueCoffee: Hold on - so in your above reply you state "plus 20-50 grams of packaging". So if that's the case the 400g bags should still work. I've actually weighed the bags empty and they only come in at around 25g.

                  • -1

@MS Chris: Yes, that is roughly the bag and label weight @MS Chris However, there's also the satchel or box, Tim Tam, shipping label and how this weight increases across varying total weight orders. We need a consistent weight increment system that works no matter the size or packing of a given order. Additionally, the new unique packing we're working on, the fact that some bags have multiple labels and potential for coffee info cards to be added…in a nutshell there's a small buffer to reduce the chances of needing to alter quantity increments again in a relatively short period of time :)

                    • +1

@LimeBlueCoffee: please, please, please TimTamTom don't do coffee info cards. Bad for the environment. Add a QR code to the packaging that goes to a website with it instead. Or send via email when shipping. Agree on the above re: 900g (as I raised in previous deals). I don't freeze so free shipping is not appealing. You're currently losing my regular business.

                      • @Gav: Morning @Gav haha liking the catch name!

There's no specific plans for a card, it was just an example of things to keep options open e.g. it could end up as random free gifts to improve the coffee experience at home or things name not change. It there was some additional items down the track they'd likely only be for specific coffees. Appreciate the feedback I the idea of an email appeals specific to someone's order, just need to look into the tech side of this down the track.

I would highly recommend trying to freeze coffee. I of course have ample access to fresh coffee and yet even I still always have coffee in my freezer at home. The method works so well and I use it for super special coffees I treat myself to every now and then, I call these "my weekend coffees."

I sincerely appreciate your candor. I would understand that you'd start to wonder if we changed our product quality or notably increased the price per gram. However, I must admit it is disappointing that we're starting to lose you over a simply quantity increment change for the same quality product at the same per gram pro rata price. To clarify, I'm not saying you're in the wrong as your opinion is your opinion. I'm saying I believe you're somewhat loyal to us otherwise I don't think you'd bother with your curiously worded feedback. I want to know how we can strength that loyalty and yet still be able to test things we deem needed to promote a healthily longevity outlook for the company. Assuming factors beyond quantity increments are important to you; if you have the time and wouldn't mind further elaborating about ways we can strengthen our relationship with you AKA before you click to place an initial order what thoughts enter your mind and once an order arrives what thoughts enter your mind before reordering?

                        • @LimeBlueCoffee: Hi Tom the TimTam man. First, please don't think any of this is personal or a reflection of your coffee quality - it's definitly not. It's just honest feedback from one little ol' shopper. Let me break down my 2 main reasons:

                          1. Let's say I was paying $6.99 for delivery. Until you made the change, I was paying $1.38 per 200g. Now I'm paying $1.75 per 200g. And I have to order more often. It adds up.
                          2. You're currently the only coffee beans retailer doing this. The rest continue to offer 1kg with no signs of changing. Either they're doing things differently, or you're trendsetting and they've yet to catch up!

If your ideal consumer is ordering in bulk, aiming for free shipping & freezing, then that's fine. But that's not me. Multiple people have suggested 900g, but you don't seem willing. Again, your decision. So it just means that one little ol' regular shopper is now not so regular.

                          • @Gav: Morning @Gav sincerely do appreciate you taking the time to provide additional feedback in such a thoughtful manner!

                            1) I understand that you've reduced order volume inline with the new quantity incremented we're testing rather than increasing and freezing to get free shipping. Although our flat rate shipping has not increased, this results in an increased shipping cost based on your order size per 200g for orders under 1kg. Based on your calculations the shipping increase you've been experiencing is less than 40 cents. Can you please clarify if the extra expense (I know every little bit adds up) is turning you off or a change in behaviour e.g. moving from a 1kg bag to 800g bag and you're accustomed to getting 1kg bags?

                            2) When making decisions we focus on our internal factors and our customers. What any other company does hasn't not factored into testing these new quantities at all and if at the end of testing we decide 500g and 1kg is best, that decision would not be due to what any other company does either. Not saying there's anything wrong with one company following another, different folks different strokes. However, we like to move in our own direction based on internal factors and customer feedback, be it orders, comments or emails… If we were to base our decisions on what other companies were doing, unique features we offer like our scheduled/delayed dispatch system would not exist.

We're still just testing, as you'll see on our site, certain products have remained available in the original 500g and 1kg quantity increments since the new quantity testing began. The data we have from our recent testing is quite interesting and has some surprises. At present it looks like the new 400g and 800g quantities make for a sustainable business with the new increments likely being adopted over time. However, it also shows if we 100% change, there would be some unexpected changes. It would somewhat change the direction the company has recently been moving in and also increases some costs in an unexpected way. What I thought may be a bit of a straight forward comparison to decide is now looking like a more complex calculation. In terms of the 900g, as mentioned there's a few reasons we're not going to try that at present. I also believe anyone who isn't a fan of the 800g size would not be a fan of 900g for the same reasons and anyone who is a fan of 800g would be fine with 900g, so that test likely wouldn't tell us any more than 800g vs. 1kg. It's tricky to please everyone because people are so unique to one another and I'm sure we won't always get it right every time. That said, we'll keep working hard to make as many people happy as we can and change anything we need to (as always any changed will be heavily impacted by customer feedback) in order to keep heading in the right direction :)

                            • @LimeBlueCoffee: Actually 4 x 40c, so about $1.50 an order Tom. So it's cost plus the inconvenience of having to order more often and play the post/courier roulette wheel (deliveries have taken as little as 1 day and as much as 1.5 weeks). I think we're going in circles now, good luck with the business.

                              • @Gav: Sure thing @Gav really appreciate the additional feedback, it does mean a lot!

Hope you have a terrific night :)

              • @HomebrewFC: And for some - the unloved TimTam.

    Is 4x400g Brazil + 1x800g Peru = $69.07 correct?

    • Hey @Ronney appreciate the double check, glad you reached out!

I'm not sure which items you've currently got in your cart. As Brazil and Peru are not currently on special, 4x400g Brazil + 1x800g Peru = $115.14 When you get a sec could you please send a screenshot of your cart page to [email protected] ?

      • They might be referring to this from your post -
“ FREE SHIPPING for orders over $69. Here's two examples to get you over the $69 threshold via this deal, we recommend freezing any excess bags purchased to quality for free shipping; 6x400g Brazil = $71.94 or 4x400g Brazil + 1x800g Peru = $69.07”

        • Great observation @JayParker I think you may have hit the nail on the head there!

@Ronney if you're referring to the prior deal, then your are correct when those coffees are on sale. However, that deal expired last month. Hopefully this current deal's a winner for you :)

          • @LimeBlueCoffee: @LimeBlueCoffee I copied that from this post’s description. Probably you had copied that section from your previous deal.

            • +1

@Ronney: Morning @Ronney my sincerest apologies, I need to remember "less haste, more speed!"

All fixed up now, thank you so much for taking the time to let me know :)

  • 1st time buyer of LimeBlue. Bought 800g CCSO - can't wait to try it out. Cheers

    • WOW that's terrific to hear, thank you souch for placing your first order with us, it's truly appreciated and an opportunity we won't take for granted!

Fingers crossed our Colombia SO is a real winner for you :)

  • First time trying Colombia Cauca Single Origin - ordered 400g. Cheers

    • Fantastic, thank you souch for placing an order with us, it really does mean so much!

Hope you absolutely love this terrific SO :)

  • NGL, bit shame about the downsize to 800g for someone who only orders 1 kg at a time every 2-3 months

    • +1

      Hey @freestyle18 appreciate the feedback!

This is just a continuation of our recent testing, it's not 100% locked in stone. However, even if 500g/1kg quantities were still available I'd highly recommend you order smaller bags based on your consumption time frame. I do understand this smaller bag ordering will increase the cost per kg with a discount by $3.60, but it'll mean you can easily maintain the freshness without needing to drastically change your ordering behaviour to do so. With the current increments I believe 3 x 400g would suit you well with a small buffer so you don't run out of the good stuff. If this appeals to you, when the order arrived open one bag, put the other two sealed bags in zip lock bags and then into your freezer and you can take them out as needed without notably sacrificing freshness/flavour. I appreciate the above may not suit you, just food for thought :)

      • definltey. I think the upvotes tell a bit of trend (you're usually consistently above 50 upvotes but have dropped the last 2) but it'll be interesting to see if you notice a change in how customers order over the next few months

        • +1

There has been some significant differences in purchasing behaviour @freestyle18 with these new increments. Some of the impact from the differences was predictable and some caught us a bit by surprise, so the changes we've seen have been quite interesting. Based on order behaviour the new increments appear to have a viable future, however they also incur some unexpected extra costs and would mean we'd be moving in a slightly different direction to the path we've been on. It looks like the decision to move to the new quantities or stick with the original sizes is going to be a bit more complex than initially anticipated. The testing isn't too far from complete, so we'll be deciding in the near future which direction to go. As always any final decision will be heavily weighed by customer feedback, be it orders, emails or comments :)

  • Hi, i only drink filtered. Are these coffees for filtered coffee?

    • Morning @KingSpirit great question, always better to check first!

I can confirm this Single Origin is terrific for both filter and espresso brewing methods :)

Must better then the other monthly so called bargain……. These guys are the real deal.

Got the subscription at the start of the year and regret not getting another one recently when it was discounted.

The Moments To Memories Blend is the go to !!!

    • WOW what a wonderful vote of confidence @Martop thank you so much for sharing that terrific feedback!

I'm thrilled to know how much you enjoy our Moments to Memories blend and that we're in your good books, we'll keep working hard to stay there :)

      • I have always been one to change up blends all the time so I am not getting bored with the same coffee. My go to at the moment is Moments and the new Chapel St from Campos. Tobys Estate, Rueben Hills, Single O are some of the others I get constantly depending where I am working etc. The Tim Tam from you guys is an added bonus too ;)

        • It can be good to mix it up once in a while @Martop I find it's the best way to discover what you enjoy and what makes you think "once was enough." Happy to hear our Tim Tam initiative is a winner for you as well :)

  • Had challenge with CouriersPlease delivery - they stated delivered but was actually disposed of due to damage or so they say. Tom from LB was fantastic, arranged for reship via express next day. Just brewed a fresh cup and it’s awesome, wonderfully complex taste with fruity flavour and hints of chocolate with light acidity, very satisfying.

    • Hey @TheBaryon I sincerely appreciate you taking to time to share such terrific feedback. When a delivery company damages a parcel or messes up a delivery we understand how frustrating it can be for customers (and us too), especially if it means there's a risk of a customer running out of the good stuff. We do our best to focus on the solution rather than the problem, so I'm very pleased to hear that the replacement arrived safely and in speedy fashion :)

I'm thrilled to know how much you enjoy our fresh coffee (nice description detail) and that we're in your good books, we'll keep working hard to stay there!
