  • Is it like really FREE? Or is there any catch?

    • You pay the shipping. Like Vista cards, which are always advertised free, but you pay the shipping.

    • they are the old designer models, that are really oldddddddddd in US and companies want to get rid of them for almost nothing, just pay shipping which is 12.99

      • So… some -people- are really oldddddddd… & others may not have seen these frames before
(so they may appear really newwwwwww to them ;-)

Who needs to be on the "cutting edge" of Fashion, anyway…

For me, It's enough to be on the cutting edge of Technology :-)

  • it is free 365 days every year… just pay shipping

    • is that usually for first order only ?
This one doesn't seem to have that restriction

        • The actual Facebook offer reads:

Exclusive Offer: Get a FREE Pair of Designer Glasses & Lenses at ClearlyContacts.com.au!
          Expires September 5, 2012
Offer ends September 5, 2012. One free pair of glasses per customer. Valid for coupon eligible frames only. To get your free pair, apply coupon code FBFREEAU at checkout. 1.5 index lenses included for free. Lens upgrades including: higher index lenses, progressives, Transitions, polarized and all lens coatings are available at additional cost. Shipping costs still apply, which is typically $12.99. Cannot be combined with any other offers. Valid for residents of Australia only. ClearlyContacts.com.au reserves the right to cancel orders that appear to be in violation of this promotion.

Doesn't say anything about whether a previous customer.

    • yea… but I've ordered 3 times already with the "first order" code

those free frames just look pathetic, so ugly u wont even wear them at home.
it has been a while that they dont get new "free" frames uploaded. all the good looking ones are always "luxury frame" which the coupon can't be applied.

    • Despite your apparently extreme & negative opinion, many see the - world & fashion - differently. :-)

Eg, ever here the word "retro" - applying to -recent- releases of vintage or classic style? ;-)

Could you possibly work for a competitor, who stands to lose money by not competing on price in AU? :-/

I like their "weekly deals" page…

    Ray-Ban bla blah
    Reg $145.00
    Now $145.00
    Save $0.00

    Bargain!

Hey, truth in advertising is to be applauded… ;-)

  • The page pretty clearly says "get your first pair free". That will mean, not available to existing customers.

Not even sure this is a deal. The free first pair thing has been going on for quite a while.

  • Hey, guys, isn't ClearlyContacts easier to communicate with than,
eg, the "Please pay attention to your Order" folks at Firmoo? :-)

  • How do you find the free frames, without actually going through ordering a set each time?

    • -1

Choose a frame (by clicking on its photo) & see if:

      • "ELIGIBLE FOR PROGRESSIVES: YES"

appears in the list (on left side of web page)

      • And that tells me what? That they aren't going to be free? Or that they are?

        • If you're careful to UNcheck the 3 coatings (read of my experiences below) in the ordering cycle, yes.

Just pay shipping (min: $12.99, I think)

        • lol, sorry but which is it?
eligible for progressives = free or not free?

      • LOL: ""ELIGIBLE FOR PROGRESSIVES: YES" Mean you can use progressing lenses in that frame. Nothing to do with the promo.

        • OK, so how do you tell which frames are eligible?

Look at that frame. Says "excluded from free first pair".

Or just go here and browse the frames that are coupon eligible:
          http://www.clearlycontacts.com.au/glasses/cCouponEligibleGla…

        • Thanks. The first link was helpful. :) The site doesn't display quite right in Firefox with Adblock either, which doesn't help.

  • PROBLEM:

Web site charges -part- of price of Glasses & Frames

(Use of coupon reduced cost by only ~ $75,
ie, NOT down to the promised $0.00)

"Get your first pair of glasses FREE" didn't happen in this case; instead:

    • Merchandise: $19.95 <== WHY!!! (only glasses & frames ordered)
    • Shipping: $12.99 (via AusPost)

Total charged: $32.94 is pretty close to local SpecSavers' $39 lowest price
and you'd wait a shorter time to get glasses from SpecSavers.

After waiting ~ 30 minutes (on-hold). I was advised that:

The $19.95 was due to their 3 coatings "package" being added, by default.

(Their Check-mark icons don't show the box being checked, so,
you are- subtly - given to think that you -can't- uncheck them)

Anyway, given the queue-time on the phone to "fix" my order
ie, remove 2 coatings to bring its total cost down by $10),
I no longer thinks this is a good deal.

They should have used better checked-box icons or,
soomehow, made it clearer that we'd be charged for
    coatings.

Negging for those -sly- (IMO) subtleties, that lead to
a WASTE HUMAN TIME in yet aniother phone queue.

(At least, they have a 1800 number for their phnoe queue,
but the human time spent queing there is worth more…)

    • Check the glasses again. Most likely you didn't uncheck the protective coating boxes.

  • My order with the coupon was reduced by $96 but I got charged $9.95 I guess for the anti-reflective coating???

ETA is Aug 28, 2012, I got the express shipping for the same price as aust post.
    Order Subtotal:$9.95
    Shipping: $12.99
    Grand Total:$22.94

    • By default, you should have been charged $19.95 )ie, for all 3 coatings,
(unless you unchecked two of the three coatings boxes, or…)
unless different frames have different coating options or costs…

In AU, I'd suggest UV coating is the more valuable one for your eyes,
if you spend any time outside.

  • If you are after glasses check out these sites as well:
    zennioptical.com
    Firmoo.com
    omnioptics.com.au

Ordered from for my child recently and had them in around 4 days. (paid for express shipping with zenni) Other sites include the lens coatings free as well.
