Saved nearly $1500 on a europe trip recently. So many options for discounts (inc Amex, Qantas, AirBnB, Direct etc), used cashback 90% of the time, and only 1 in 10 was “jacked”, but that’s just normal across so many options. Just do your homework and checks.

Note: when stacked with a Westpac deal the savings can be huge 23+%

    • -1

What Westpac deal are you referring to? Does it stack with booking.com?

  • Will this still be tracked if I’m getting a genius lvl 1 & mobile only price discount? Seems like these discounts can’t be removed

    • I assume it would
I’m on genius lvl 2 and booked using mobile only price. No harm trying as I booked a fully refundable booking so can cancel if not. We’ll see if it tracks.

Cash back tracked and email received

    • Through Cashrewards in the past I could not get Cashback via the booking.com app, Cashback worked with the genius level no problem.
Huge advantage you can now use Shopback and still get mobile only pricing.
Thanks OP, new trip starting next month.

    • Confirming this worked for me too - lvl 2 genius discount received, no price jack, tracked within an hour on the full accommodation amount.

Started on mobile in chrome on shopback site and the click-through opened the Booking app and a pop-up in the app mentioned partnership with Shopback. Got nervous it wouldn't track because of the app link (even though it's noted as ok in the shopback t+c), did the booking, and it all worked.

    • yes, i got cashback with Genius discount before

  • DOuble check, looking in sydney in two weeks and price jacked on a few but not on a few so check

  • Prices jacked when I checked.

Yep, prices will be jacked. After completing my bookings for my Japan trip, I find that prices are jacked when using cashback tracking sites to search for the same accomodations in the same dates. I’ve tried this theough CB, SB and TB.

It is still cheaper for me to book through hotels.google.com (and usually through agoda) as they offer the lowest total price when tracked through them even, after discounting the cashback amount.

Now it might make a difference if you have a significant westpac bonus on top of it but I didn’t have a westpac account to compare. I suggest compare flights and hotels through Google in general.

    • I expected jacking too, or for the genius discount not to work, but all seemed ok, just a pure discount. This was for a local accommodation provider though, you would for sure have to do a comprehensive check for international and chain options.

  • Is this the highest cashback for booking.com? Trying to figure out whether to pull the trigger and book now for a trip in Nov or wait

    • +1

Accommodation prices are likely going to start going up significantly if you wait much longer for a trip in November (assuming it's somewhere fairly popular), negating any additional cashback that may come up.

    • +1

Between 9.5 - 14.5% on a rotating basis between the major providers.

Make sure you shop around despite the cashback. I been looking at accommodation in thailand past few weeks and for whatever Booking.com has always been on the more expensive side even after cashback. I've noticed expedia and agoda price cycles to be more dynamic and favourable.

I booked hotel in bangkok with Wotif 14% CB few weeks for 3N which came up cheapest compared to all so you definitely have to shop around. Booking CB isnt attractive anymore

    • I had low expectations for this but it actually gave a genius discount and a full cashback with no jacking. This was local independent accommodation though, for the international and chain options it really varies and I'd be back to low expectations again. Good note on Expedia and Agoda.
