Swoop Broadband is offering $10-$40 dollars off on their Fixed Wireless Broadband plans for 12 months. Similar to their NBN deals, this is for their private Fixed Wireless network, available in selected areas. I can't find a map of locations, but you can check your address on their website. I can only get 70/20 where I am.

Note the fine print: If you leave within 24 months you have to pay out the installation fee - $20 for every month remaining in the first 24 months.

Also appears to apply to existing customers upgrading their plan.

Speed (Mbps) Coupon Monthly for 12M Ongoing monthly

120/20 12EOFY20 $79 $99

  • PRICE in title….

    Read the posting rules.

    • I tried many variations to get all the details to fit in the 128-character limit. Though two mods have already updated it minorly.

    • The mods will fix it anyway

      • Did they send you the invoice?

    Month-to-month plan
You can upgrade your plan at any time, or downgrade on the first day of the billing cycle. If you leave within 24 months, simply pay out the setup fee* ($20/mth for every month remaining in the first 24 months)

I don't think this is a month-to-month plan if there is an exit fee within 24 months…

Yeah agreed, this should not be hidden in the fine print. Though if you already have an antenna with them you don't need to pay for installation again.

  • Available in my area, but I don't like having to install antenna.

  • Thanks OP
sounds a bit too cheap but I am open to offers
For a moment I was being confused as the Eagles in Hotel California: You can check out anytime you want but can never…..

I've had no end of troubles dealing with Swoop (previously known as DCSI) over the many years that I was with them. I even had to take them to the TIO twice.

Their proprietary fixed wireless network (previously known as acceler8ted) suffered from severe 'rain fade' (google it) and every time that it rained in my semi-rural area of West Gippsland in Victoria (which ironically, was just ten kilometres from Swoop's head office), my FW service would drop from 65+ Mbps download speed to less than 5 Mbps. It rains a lot in West Gippsland and the service was absolutely terrible. And this was during the lockdowns, when my wife, sons, and I, were all working or studying from home and trying to use zoom for meetings. At 5 Mbps, it was a struggle to get one zoom session running, let alone four. As they don't guarantee the download speeds on their own network, they suggested to me that I should purchase a telstra mobile hotspot device to use as a backup. Now I'm sorry, but that's bloody terrible customer service if you ask me.

I don't know if their new Swooperfast FW has fixed the rain fade problem, but if anyone is looking at switching to them, please do some research on rain fade and get confirmation from Swoop that the FW service won't suffer from it before signing on the dotted line.

After the second involvement of the TIO, Swoop decided that, as they could not provide me with a reliable FW service, they terminated it with just 30 days notice. As I had had email addresses with them for many years, I literally had to spend a months worth of weekends switching over all of my Swoop email addresses to Gmail ones.

It was an absolute nightmare dealing with Swoop and I encourage anyone who is contemplating going with them, to do their homework first.

  • Oh, and they said that I could keep the expensive dish on my roof. It's no bloody good to me and the birds just sit on it and crap all over the roof, which then washes into my water tank every time that it rains (which as I said in my last post, is a lot). We are on tank water only. I just wish that they'd come and take the dish away tbh.
