  • One of the saddest days of my life was having to pay over $250 for a webcam during the early covid days.

    • +1

I remember my boss getting pissed off with me for not having a web camera and saying it looked unprofessional for our clients in zoom meetings. He was a researcher that always wore flannelette shirts and dressed like he was "headin' out bush" at every opportunity, and had the audacity to tell me that.

      What a wayne-kerr!

  • I have this cam and 922 pro is better in terms of software support / controls / auto lighting etc. if you're just using it for personal home use (ie. one person use) plus it can be cheaper

The angle of the 930 is a bit different possibly more for corp use and the overall software controls compared to a 922 are hopeless

Assuming it's supposed to be set up in a conferencing environment with ideal / calibrated / controlled lighting

For home use a 922 is better

  • C920 vs C930e?

  • I just got my Brio 500 in the mail this week. It’s much better than I expected. My wfh study is dark in the afternoon and with the dark cloudy days this week, extra dark. I have a window behind me as well. The camera picks up the dark areas really well and without too much noise. It’s also got surprisingly good dynamic range and picks up outside my bright window and dark interior at the same time. I got it on sale on Amazon, around $120ish.

    • Same here, thought I'd go for the 500 after seeing them all side by side. Pretty impressed with the quality and how it handles bad lighting. Got it at $119 as well. Was using a GoPro Hero 8 previously but sick of it barely connecting as a webcam.

    • They're $99 on eBay at the moment for the rose pink.

Cheapest Brio 4k I could find is $209 at Jaycar.

Edit: On a side note, I also found the Razer Kiyo Pro for $129 at Bing Lee.

      • Ah ok, I was weighing up getting the Brio 500 or the Kiyo Pro but last week that was around $160. Glad I didn’t since it’s now 120. But from all the video comparisons and reviews I looked at, I think they’re similar in performance, possibly the Kiyo slightly better. It’s also bigger. I like the privacy cover on the Brio.

I’m coming from using my work laptop camera for a few years and this is waaay better.

  • Waiting for the Brio 4K to go on sale again. I really want to use the Windows Hello feature to unlock my work laptop. So over typing passwords

  • I hope, for your/employer's sake, Bitlocker is enabled on that laptop…
