ETIHAD: Beirut to Abu Dhabi (AUH) or Dubai by Free Bus Transfer (XNB) One Way $131 @ Google Flights

110

Not entirely relevant to the majority of people on OZB but still a good price if you're going to Beirut for summer and looking to transit in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Personally I'll be using the free bus service that takes you to the Etihad bus station in Dubai.
Quite an interesting sale as you're essentially just paying US$2 for the ticket and the remaining amount is all taxes/surcharges. Please read the fare rules but the TLDR version is that it's not changeable or refundable, and not eligible for an upgrade.

Inclusions:
Standard economy food and service onboard
20kg checked baggage
329 miles per guest (You can credit this to Virgin Australia if you're in the frequent flyer program game)

Change the dates on Google Flights to check for the ones that show $131, be flexible with your dates.
If you don't mind booking via an OTA - Gotogate and eDreams have them for even cheaper at ~$121.

  • The only annoying thing about UAE airlines is they do not fly over Syria, instead going over Jordan /Egypt/Mediterranean sea. This adds another hour of flight time. But it's still a good price.

    • Why thou? I heard they have lots of fireworks there

      • It's safe, I caught MEA before and never an issue

        • They don't exactly have much of a choice do they? Surrounded by Syria on 3 sides.

If there’s any substance at all to their reasons for the route that they take then you’re probably better off spending that extra hour enjoying their hospitality (or not) than saving the hour or suffering the consequence of there being good reason for avoiding that particular flightpath.

    • I thought this is the case for all airlines because of the Syrian civil war?

      • MEA flies over Syria

Overall: Reconsider your need to travel

Correct but this is for those travelling out of Lebanon. So good deal? :)

      Ok reconsidered…. yup still going!

    • I went recently. Was fine, although you do have to rumble for a bag of bread. Personally wouldn't go back, but not for any safety reasons.

Just forgot to mention how much the tickets to UAE from AU cost =(

  • Abu Dhabi is >2500km from Beirut by road. Wouldn't it be easier & quicker to fly to Istanbul & then to Beirut?
