    Nope, not yet.

      Hence, "almost".

I think what he/she means is that it will go down much further with Q3 releasing. And likely quickly.

        • +2

This is the new official price after the Quest 3 announcement.

When it comes to getting upgraded storage space on a VR headset, the answer is never.

    HODLLLL

better to wait and buy the quest 3 128GB. slimmer, faster(important for better graphics), lighter, higher resolution, color pass through etc. I wouldnt buy this at this time and would wait for the new ones.

    • +3

I've been holding out for the ideal VR set since the first oculus lol.

      Any day now…

      • +2

quest 2 was already what you wanted. can play entry level vr games stand alone and can connect to PC and can play full fledged PC vr games wirelessly. but at this point its better to hold.

    • Also a lot more expensive though?

    • +1

Quest 3 starts at $829 AUD.

      • Wait for a quick sale, hoping there will be some kind of initial adoption discounts.

better wait and spend $400 more….?

  • +3

Not at this price for the outdated model. $400 at best

I played a couple of different games on this headset and yea it's kind of cool at first even more so if you play with your mates but the novelty quickly wears off. After maybe playing 10 or so times the headset has just been lying in my house collecting dust.

    • Same, there's a real barrier to picking it back up again unfortunately

      • +2

I would say that it changes when you use PCVR, Quest 2 just isn't powerful enough. Once I was able to use mine to play PCVR titles, it really changed how I looked at VR

        • All the PC does is make the graphics look nicer. The inherent problems with VR remain the same whether you link your PC or play it off the headset. I've done both by the way and the whole thing just feels clumsy and a lot of the serious games just aren't optimised for it.
Don't get me wrong I think VR will most likely be the next evolutionary step in gaming but it still has a looooong way to go before we get there.

          • @icarus255: So does a PS5 vs NES, but it allows for games with much greater scope and brevity.

While I agree with some of your sentiment, from my point of view the main barrier atm is price. If PCVR were a 1/4 of the price, then I think it would be mainstream. But currently, it's just very, very expensive.

        • Just out of curiousity, how are you playing your PCVR games? Air link, Virtual Desktop, or something else?

          • +1

@youknow: I can't remember the exact software but I played half-life through steam and some other app

          • +2

@youknow: Virtual desktop, almost 0 lag via 5G wifi router.

          • +1

@youknow: Airlink. I wouldn't bother with Virtual Desktop, although that's just my personal opinion.

With that said, I have a really powerful computer (3080 ti) so perhaps that's why I'm having minimal issues. But also, you'll need to do a lot of manual config and googling to get the optimal settings, because the settings out of the box are really bad.

        • +1

I'm the reverse actually. Started using it a lot more when I explored standalone games. Having to start steam, have it update, start up oculus, have that update, etc was major barrier. The other thing I guess was realising just how much of a workout I was getting.

That said, my favourite and most played game by a long shot is pistol whip.

          • +1

@Ezuku: I'm kind of the same though recently I tried out some PCVR and was very impressed with the quality vs standalone.

    • there's a real barrier to picking it back up again unfortunately

Did you try any Flight sims, Rally or Formula 1 racing? - definitely worth trying them out with VR.

Flight sims just don't feel the same without the goggles on now.

Looking beside you in a F1 race to see where the car beside you is also makes it much more involving (Force feedback wheel and good headphones complete the set)

    • Only thing I use mine for is table tennis (Eleven Table Tennis) and golf (Golf+, Walkabout Golf). To be fair, that makes up maybe an hour every 3 days.

The game that really gets a hammering when the young neices/nephews come over is Acron: Attack of the Squirrels.
One person plays as a tree protecting it's acorns from multiple squirrels - the other players using their phones/tablets to attack the tree.

      • Puzzling Places is great if not in the mood for action. Have spent many (100+) hours doing the 3D Jigsaws. One of the best Oculus games for something different.

I remember when the 128gb hit $400, now with a newer one on the horizon it's even more expensive…
