Samsung HW-Q990C Soundbar $1,099.45 Delivered @ Samsung EPP Online Store (Membership Required)

250

This is the cheapest I've seen the latest model of this highly regarded soundbar.

Unfortunately, you need to have access to the Samsung Employee Purchase Program to access this deal, which is something that your employer needs to offer you. Check their other partnership programs (if you have access, such as the education portal or government portal) as the same discount might be on offer. I only have access to the employee portal, so am unable to check.

CAVEAT EMPTOR - For any novices to OzBargain, there is a sea of complaints about how poor Samsung's online logistics are. I have my own horror story following the purchase of a Samsung TV from them earlier in the year. I'll post that in response to this listing in the comments, to keep this post short.

My advice is if you desperately need this product by a certain date, your odds of getting this product quickly are low. In fact, be prepared not to get this product at all.

My Samsung experience has been a bit of a saga. I placed an order for a Samsung QN85B TV about three months ago when they were starting to run them out and managed to get a loyalty discount on top of that, to get it at a great price. I had read all the negative comments but since we still had a working TV, I wasn't in a hurry to get it. I finally got confirmation via SMS it was being delivered about a month after placing the order. I stayed home to receive delivery and it didn't arrive. I followed up with the courier and was told the TV wasn't at the local (Brisbane) warehouse for them to collect and was told to follow up with Samsung.

I rang Samsung and they had no clue where the TV was and committed to escalating. I heard nothing back. Eventually a couple of weeks later I got another confirmation via SMS the TV was being delivered on a certain day. Once again, I stayed home to accept the delivery and again no TV arrived. More complaints to Samsung and commitments of escalation but nothing. Then two weeks later I get a cancellation email from them and a refund a couple of days after that. No explanation. What really pushed me over the edge was jumping on their website that day only to see it listed as 'in stock'. WTF?

Yet again I rang Samsung and asked what the hell happened and why was my order cancelled when it is showing in stock. The response was 'sorry about that but you can just purchase it again'. Problem was that now the TV was $500 more expensive and I didn't have a valid voucher to use. When I said that, I was told they weren't offering the loyalty discounts any more. I was ready to go postal at this point.

I again asked for it to be escalated and was assured it would be. I didn't expect anything after the drama to date. Finally, a couple of weeks later, I got a polite message from someone that appeared to be local in Australia saying they had reviewed my case and would offer me a special code for the QN85C version of the same TV as compensation for the troubles I experienced, if I was interested. Being a glutton for punishment, I accepted the offer. The TV is now on order so who knows if I'll ever see it but hey, at least they finally responded.

TL:DR - Don't hold your breath if you ever order anything from Samsung's online store.

    • They don't know their ass from their elbow.
My cousin purchased 2 soundbars during their secret sale then decided he didn't want them. Told Samsung to come and pick them up but in that time, he sold them. Courier calls and says he's coming, cousin says don't bother I sold them. Samsung email him saying he's getting a refund LOL. F'ing bellends.

    • I wish I could talk to someone local at Samsung about my QN85B. The voice assistant functionality (Alexa, bixby, & google assistant) is useless and not at all as advertised. "Escalated" like usual with no further update.

I just received $100 compensation for my soundbar after a 2 month delivery delay (I should get it this Thursday, hopefully).

Did they offer the QN85C at the same price you paid for the 85B?

      • +1

Yes, paid same price for C as I paid for B. That's the theory, provided it turns up. Honestly, if it doesn't, I'm 100% boycotting Samsung until I'm convinced they've sorted out their sh$t, which I suspect will take a looong time.

        • That's pretty good for Samsung support, honestly. 50/50 odds you'll get your tv now lol

Btw, did you just go through the normal support channels? Phone number on their website, email, etc?

          • @socialistshroom: Yes, just the normal channels. The last call I had with them I was insistent they escalate it but that hadn't worked before, so I was surprised I heard anything from them. I wrote it off at that point. The polite lady that emailed had the following details, so after dealing with OS call centres previously, it seems they have some sort of local presence. Maybe we need to flood them with letters of complaint via old school post to get their attention.

    • I had a horrendous experience when I bought my G9 Neo through EPP.

First the processing time was excessively long and once its 'shipped' there is no way to track it. the best you will get is that a courier will call you the day prior.

I discourage any use of their online store.

  • $1000 buy in for the C.
I said this for the B and then the C came out.
So sub $900 for the B on clearance.

    Tag me thanks.

Assuming it’ll be via eBay with a coupon eventually.
      Maybe even appliance online.

    Warning …

Avoid purchasing from samsung direct if you can!

Their customer service is next to nil. I logged a service req for my q930b soundbar (Dolby atmos issue) back in early January and to this date the issue is still unresolved. Ive called have over 15 time and every time they tell me that a case manager will call me within 2 business days and they simply dont call back.

At one instance, someone from the customer satisfaction team called me to see if i was happy with the service, after they closed my case without a resolution.

Ive been so fedup with the shit service, that olive asked for a refund and to this day, im still waiting for it.

    • .. I’m afraid to ask being a B owner.. but what’s wrong with the Dolby function?

      • Whenever i tried to watch an amos movie, the voice/dialogue was very quiet, any all you hear is the sound affects

  • I couldn't order from Samsung direct because it kept asking me to select a delivery date but had no option to.

I spoke to support 5 times in a couple of weeks with no resolution and they had no idea what the issue was. Weeks later I received an update from them that their delivery partner no longer covered my area, which is a regional city. I asked if they had any plans to get a new delivery partner and they never responded.

Absolute joke at the moment. I'm a long time Samsung customer with many Samsung products, mostly from their EDU store. I've never had a problem with support 12+ months ago, but lately they've been absolutely hopeless.

    • Could the lack of option for date be browser specific? Sometimes they dont optimise webpages for multiple browsers. Crazy that a big company wouldnt be smart enough to test on more than 1 browser and mobile platform.

      • I tested on Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Brave, Mobile, PC. Cleared all the cache etc.

The problem was their delivery provider changed their range but didn't provide any feedback for out of area, it just didn't provide the date selector if the address wasn't in range. As soon as I put in a Sydney address the date box appeared. This took them weeks to figure out.

  • If we are talking about Samsung Customer service and delays, I’m still waiting for my free promotional Galaxy buds after buying S23 ultra 2 months ago. And the customer service had no clue about the promotional bids as they didn’t had their separate order number.

  • In case anyone is wondering, looks like you can't stack the loyalty discount voucher on this purchase.
    I just tried.

    • Loyalty discount only works on normal website. Not on EPP

Yeah definitely wouldn't recommend buying from Samsung directly. I've been waiting since Feb for the Q930B I bought and they just this week cancelled the order on me, after first having the Q950A order cancelled on me. So 4 months later an I still don't have a sound bar.

    • Wow

    • Yep, I feel your pain. I don't understand how they can get it so wrong. Their logistics team all need to find new careers. A complete and utter failure. I don't know how Samsung tolerate it. They'd be much better off just shutting their direct selling completely until they fix their logistics rather than stuffing around their customer base and risk losing them for good.

    • Oh god, I've been waiting since mid March for my Q930B. New expected delivery date is this coming Thursday. Praying it doesn't get cancelled.

    • Same… Some of the worst customer service I've encountered

  • I agree. worst customer service. No idea what they do. Samsung has inability to handle delivery, return and refund. I'm waiting for my refund from March to till now. Finally reported to Fair trading and waiting for their response and my refund. I feel shame… All of our local retails and online store refund within 5 to 7 working days but Samsung says 30 days but never return until you report to fair trading.

  • I have bought a TV and a phone directly from Samsung and both were delivered safe and sound with no issues. Sydney Metro though so YMMV.
Customer service wise - I have only used the online chat and its been smooth.

Not the same price, but to avoid this the next best pricing appears to be via ebay (Powerworld - but slow shipping) or Appliances Direct $1220 + $70 shipping. JB Hifi will match Appliances Direct.
