Description:
Trump (or a Trumpist) could well win the 2024 US presidential election, and if he does, American democracy as we have known it will probably come to an end. Australia's best-informed commentator on US politics sends a chilling warning about the implications for Australia.

What if Trump (or a Trump-like candidate) becomes US president in 2024?

Leading expert and US and Australian politics insider Bruce Wolpe reveals the many ways in which Australia was damaged by Donald Trump's presidency. Seeping into Australia from above and below, Trumpism contaminated public debate, emboldened local political and religious extremists, diminished Australia's economy and international relations-and much more.

Wolpe predicts America's democracy won't survive a second Trump term. The implications for the world and for Australia are shocking. He explains how Australia can draw on its strengths to protect its democracy, economy and society from Trumpism, and where Australia is vulnerable and needs to build guardrails. He warns Australia might also face an existential question about ties with its most important ally.

'True, timely and terrifying' -Sean Kelly, author of The Game

'A timely warning and a potential survival guide' -John Barron, co-host ofPlanet America

'A forensic analysis of how President Donald Trump invaded Australia's politics and prospects' -Laura Tingle, ABC TV

'A must read for anyone who cares about Australian democracy' -Zoe Daniel, Independent MP for Goldstein

'This is a book you should read' - Natalie Barr, co-host of Sunrise

              • @vash5: That's not what it says.

But I can understand that you don't understand its meaning.

  • grab it before it's full price!

You telling me $26.25 isn’t the full price. I’ll just watch Fox News for 30 mins and then CNN for 30 mins and call it again.

  • All it says in there is 'Scott Morrison and his ministry'.
Sort of says it all really.

  • Better watch out, better not cry…
Ron De Santis is coming to town 🎵

I dig that at OzB the mods and culture allow for people of different values and opinions to discuss bargains about products that are contentious. That's almost impossible to see (publicly) in any workplace or media outlet, in today's ideologically partisan and tribal age.

This post is obviously for a progressive product, but we saw a more conservative one with the massive What is a Woman thread, and also the debates aren't as vicious as they are elsewhere.

Pretty sure it is because we all have a big thing in common - that investing half an hour or our time to save $3 at Amazon is the backbone of a civil society. I shall be nominating the mods for the Nobel Peace Prize .

    BS.

One of the most histrionic examples of political BS in the past few years has been the claim that dEmoCRacY itself is about to end. It's little more than collective trauma seeking its own doomsday scenario. Much of it is self inflicted, through not even trying to understand the world, including roughly half of the population who doesn't think like you do…

Yes, "Trumpism" is a thing, but also an overly simplistic explanation most of the time, since Trump himself is downstream from what's really driving political currents in the US and other places. We have many problems here in Australia on the political right, as well as the left, but trumpism isn't one of them.

    • whatever false fear narrative works at the time… communism, cold war, terrorism, climate change… stupid people can be easily controlled when scared.

The right in power in Australia is more like Democratic light.

The values dont align and they have little to no backbone.

I love the narrative from the deep state that 'Trump is a threat to democracy' …the US is run by military and pharmaceutical corporations, they decide policy…

Trump is the only president since Eisenhower to call out the corruption..

    • -1

What could be more corrupt than trying to overthrow the results of an election you comprehensively lost?

Did the military and pharmaceuticals decide that policy.

            🤣🤣🤣

Says the guy who thinks Trump was overthrowing an election.

It baffles me how you fail to do the slightest investigation that would otherwise show you the truth.

Instead you follow the NPCs in chanting Orange Man Bad.

@vash5: Many of your posts demonstrate that you are easily baffled.

Look at all the cute little trumpists in the comment section. Emboldened and labotomised

    • You'd have to be lobotomised to believe the premise of this nonsense. This is left won't QAnon level catnip. Being as stupid as a Trump supporter is not the way forward.
