i bought my first laptop in 1996. Toshiba something, monochrome screen, 4MB RAM, Win3.1. $3,000.
It could run DOOM… but due to the memory effect of the monochrome screen, it was a challenge!
You had 4MB of RAM and Win3.1 and you are complaining?
Mine was a 286 with 1MB of RAM and DOS3.3 and ran Prince of Persia in monochrome.
In US they have been a lot cheaper for many many years. Australians were just getting ripped off. May be now the prices are getting pushed to the realistic figure after seeing the trend that people order online from other countries.
