Fire Defender Multi-Purpose Fire Retardant - 5L for $1.00 (Was $26.90) @ Bunnings

70

Just saw this while wandering Bunnings in Coffs Harbour this afternoon. It's a fire retardant liquid for clothing, fabrics, curtains, carpets, soft furnishings, etc. Just snapped a picture while I was walking past. Can't find any info on the Bunnings site, could be all stores or none, worth posting anyway I thought, due to the savings alone. If this is something you're looking for.

Dip you partner's cigarettes in them?

  • can you use this for more than fireproofing? is it insulating? waterproof?

      will it blend?

has anyone seen it in SA?

the ticket price $1.00 is for the 2L not 5L OP

    • There was no other product anywhere like it in the area. Definitely not a 2L bottle nearby. Either they put the wrong ticket on it, or it's a typo. Either way, it'd be $1.00 at the register due to the ticket.

Like asbestos but more better. Coat your carpets and whole house with it, what could possibly go wrong :D

  • what can i do with this?

    • +2

Treat clothes with it, use for preparation for summer/bush fires. Coat outdoor chair cushions near BBQ with it, sleeping bags/tents/chairs for use near camp fires, that big carpet square on the floor of the shed/workshop, etc.. use your imagination. Anything you don't want to catch on fire that is fabric based, this could help.

  • Discounted from $26.90 to $1? Why? End of line? Won't be sold any more? Does it work at all and is it practical?

    • Ticket says "Clearance" - not sure why. Should have worked well, and it seems practical enough.

Because not setting things on fire is easier than painting everything you own in this stuff!

Thanks OP, I should put this all over myself, seeing as I'm so damn hot lol jk

Just in time…..about to tell the missus I bought a toy…now I am protected against fire breath.

      Is your missus a Charizard?

This deal is certainly on fire! :)

  • This will be good to coat my firelighters with. Stop them accidently catching fire.

  • What happens if you mix this stuff with petrol?

    • +2

The same thing that happens when an irresistible force meets an immovable object - the end of the universe obviously.

      • +1

        yep, or 42.

    • I thought it's the fumes from the petrol that catch fire.

If the petrol doesn't react with this, you'll have a mixture of this and petrol. Fumes might still come off (if there is petrol at the surface) and you can still set the fumes on fire.

If this stuff stuck to the container, the container might resist the fire a bit.
