Adult Weighted Blanket 7kg Grey $49 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ OnePass/ $65 Spend) @ Kmart

200

Should be exactly what people need when they do not have a heater or cannot afford to turn on a heater. These weighted blankets are so good honestly. Keeps you warm too, apart from being super heavy they are very nice. Kmart seems to be offering these at lowest price i think for INSTORE purchases.

Kogan has one for $44 but shipping in that/$0 with kogan first. Nevertheless I recommend people getting such weighted blankets instead of expensive quilts.

Feel perfectly snug and warm under this weighted blanket - an essential addition to your bedroom.

So just to add on to the first point OP made, please be aware that more weight doesn’t always mean more insulation. I learnt this the hard way over the last winter.

While I like my weighted blanket, they are filled with glass beads, not feather/cotton/etc. These are good at making your blanket heavier but aren’t exactly great at keeping you warm. If your aim is to keep you warm then you are better off buying something else.

Hope someone finds this helpful :))

Edit : I am currently using the Kogan blanket OP linked.

Err OP weighted blankets aren't meant to keep you warm…

It keeps one warm, dude (not hot), protects from cold at very least and you dont wake up sweating, like you might with a super heavy quilt

      • Maybe you've been using polyester quilts and so you sweat. I love my down quilt, so airy and poofy and warm.
Personally not a fan of weighted blankets - I've used two. Either you love it or hate it.

Depends very much on what the weighted blanket is made of.

The weighted aspect does nothing for warmth, and the blankets are generally not designed with warmth in mind.

They are designed to be heavy, to give proprioceptive sensory input, which can be calming and regulating, particularly for neurodivergent people.

Keeps my blanket in place which keeps me warm

  • Using kogan $9 one, works great

  • Maybe it’s just the trend but why are these blankets always grey lol

because of factories in good country, good country, good country.

Currently using this blanket. Like other users mentioned it's not good at making you warm and it's not comfortable… if you're using it on its own.

What I did was sandwich this blanket within those IKEA two-piece duvets. Mine was called Grusblad or something like that, but apparently, now they're called SMÅSPORRE. Then, get some sheet gripper clips and clip these three pieces together and you get one of the warmest, most comfortable sleeping experiences ever. I almost never use my air conditioner or my electric bed topper anymore.

weighted blankets are primarily used to help your mood, not necessarily to keep you warm.

  • Anyone find that when they sleep with a weighted blanket, they dream more?

  • These work very well; https://www.target.com.au/p/super-soft-throw/67256051

They are supposed to be directly on your skin, not over the doona, as they add an insulating air layer just next to your skin. Make sure to not wash above 30 degrees, as it ruins the fluffyness.

Not sure what other people mean…

I struggle to use my weighted blanket in summer. It's perfect for winter though. Definitely warmer than a standard quilt in my experience.

    • The "DreamZ" branded ones I saw on eBay seem to mention they keep you cool.
Maybe because they use Bamboo 🤷🏾‍♂️

but yeah, again, I'm pretty sure their main focus isn't about insulated heat 🤔

I have this kmart weighted blanket and one of the unexpected benefits is that if you're someone who turns in their sleep, the blanket stays put. No more waking up in a bundle. I sleep really well with this under my doona

If I wanted to get one for a queen bed (for two ppl), which size should I be getting? I noticed the cheaper 5.5kg one is not as long and wide as this 7kg one, but then I'd be under the recommended weight for the 7kg one so not sure which I should be getting
