  • Xiaomi 3 or the G30L?

    • +1

G30L is a larger scooter with a bigger battery and more range. If you're willing to spend the extra I'd say get it.

      • Haven't had a scooter before. I'd obviously rather spend less if it'll do the job, but if there's a clear advantage I don't mind paying a bit extra.

        • Will you be riding it in a hilly area? Do you weight close to 100kg or more? Will you be using it daily or for long trips? If any of those are true you will appreciate the segway. Otherwise it you live in a flat area, are slim, and don't plan on using its all day everyday then Xiaomi is fine. I have a Xiaomi Pro 2, which has similar specs to the 3, its done nearly 2000km, I weigh 90-100kgs and I've had no issues, but when its low on battery and i am going up a hill I have to give it an assist.

          • @ozcheese: Ha, sorry didn't realise how many variables there are. Thanks for taking the time.

I weigh 65-70kgs, flat area. Daily maybe, 15-20kms there and back.

Sounds like other than for range, Xiaomi may be the way to go.

            Thanks again.

            • @BergzBargz: 15-20km is a bit too hardcore with a scooter. Doable but i do not recommend… Unless you live in an area with little to no traffic.

I live in Southeast Melbourne, even commuting to the train station that's like 1.5km is a chore with all the crazy traffic and lights.

  • Oh man, I bought the Lite from the Sydney Mobiles deal last night. Sad.

    • Cancel and buy this 😉

So tempted to pick up a 3 Lite and take a gamble on the fines with that price. All it'd take is one time though and the scooter cost shoots up to $3K.

Why are these sold at phone stores?

Mobileciti sell more than just phones.

Any recommendations for a fatty who wants to use it on grass / dirt / gravel?

Was going to go with a Dragon GTR V2 since it seems like Xiamoi and Segway are all for smaller folk riding on concrete.

    • Yeah if you're larger, say 100+ kg and want to ride off road then these aren't the tool for thr job, you'll want something with some form of suspension, probably 1000w+ of peak power, and with a weight rating that healthily accommodates you. Have a price range in mind?

      • I'm 125KG and 6ft-something. No real budget cause I'm baller (lol yeah no), but I don't plan on using it to commute daily or anything so most of the big dollar items are probably wasted longevity.

Kaabo look the goods, but probably a bit exxy for my occasional use. I think I'll roll a Dragon GTR V2 (150KG load rated) and if it ends up being something I get in to more, I'll check out the more expensive units.

        • GTR V2 is quite an old scooter so I'd go for the Dragon Slayer. Battery is a bit bigger on the base model and the sinewave controllers make acceleration smoother and the battery more energy efficient.

        • The Dragon range are on the cheaper end, but a solid place to start to find your feet. IMO the best large scooter is a Nami, the weight rating of 120kg is close but people larger than that do ride them, and it has excellent build quality, features, range etc.

ain't no way these could do off-road…. To begin with there's no suspension and also they are predominantly FWD.

  • i think it is still not legal to ride e-scooters in NSW. so highly recommend to check your state specific regulations before you buy these.

  • Clear just wanted your opinion on the Unagi E500?

My cheap Chinese e-scooter died so I ordered the E500 from mobileciti eBay - $699.99 with vouchers bringing it down to $629.99.

Wanted something dual motor for hills and something compact to fit in the boot of my hatch back. Just a little concerned about the range and solid wheels.

    • Range is probably going to be on the shorter side like the 3 Lite. Expect 15-20km max range. Solid tyres will certainly make you feel the bumps more too.

  • Thanks op. Pulled the trigger on the mi 3.

  • I personally would only buy the pro versions. You can expect about half the range listed when you’re travelling at full speed.

  • Any recommendation for enthusiast e-scooter with suspension and preferably dual drive, around 1000? or should i wait for a bit longer for deals? Thinking of returning my xiaomi to Jeff Bezos, it's too slow for my use case.

    • You won't get that for $1000. Something like this for $1699 is more realistic.

      • how about the pov spec Dragon GTR?

        • That one will be single motor only. A 48V/15.6Ah battery is on the smaller side so as long as you're not doing 40km/h everywhere you'll get 30ish km range max.

          • @Clear: And the v2 gtr is close to the price of a Dragon Slayer…. You reckon that’s any good? 27-28kg will be a bit of a chore to carry into my apartment past the kitchen area and living room to do the charging at the balcony.

            • @dukeGR4: If it was between the GTR V2 and Slayer I'd always go with the Slayer. Otherwise the GTR V2 would still be a good ride regardless. Alternatively you could grab the new Xiaomi 4 Ultra with dual suspension and 940W rear motor. The battery will be smaller than the GTR V2 though.

  • Ordered and cancelled as they haven't any in stock and expected stock later this week. Initially I was told package is waiting for pick up. Not ideal for an eBay plus item.
