  • If I was to use to use the hdmi to connect it to my laptop how would I go about setting up a soundbar to this? Would I have to use like a hdmi splitter either on the projector or my laptop as it's only got 1 hdmi port?

Says original resolution is 1280x720P which is not bad at this price especially if it comes with a screen

  • From review

Also, do yourself a favor and don't use the free screen that comes with it. It is way to thin and you can see what's behind it the whole time

720p is a bit meh but cheap is cheap will suit some people

  • Buy it, try it, dont like it, return it

    • Thought amazon returns policy is that the item must be sealed for change of mind returns

      • +1

It's not a change of mind return. It's a return if the product is not as described, not to standard or not functional.
It's cheap so not expecting much but if it's not usable, ie too blurry that you can't read text, then I will return.

  • Does anyone else see an extra $50 off coupon? Not tempted at $135, but at $85 I’m closer to taking a punt.

    • Yes…..still not biting

      • Can't see why not. ~$80. The thing that's pulling me towards purchasing is when I filter the reviews by the ones that that only have videos - seems pretty unanimously awesome.

    bright enough?

  • Mine gave me a $50 coupon= $85 not sure why but cheap as heck .thanks op .

    I would rather recommend
    https://www.amazon.com.au/XuanPad-Projector-Upgraded-Support…

Have been using it for a month now and is good for the price.

    • Good as computer monitor?

      • Haven’t used it that way.
Primarily used to watch YouTube Netflix etc via Amazon fire stick

    • Thanks for the recommendation! I had a "save $40" checkbox on the page too, so $79! Pretty stoked to have a punt at that price

      • Yeah. And if you don’t like it, return it ;)

    • Thanks I returned the original posted and bought this one, slightly better resolution. Original one has a loud fan and the keystone worked but top and bottom was blurry. I wouldn't recommend for reading text though.

if buying cheap shit rubbish…. native 1080p version with screen for less

    $127.49 - https://www.amazon.com.au/Projector-Bluetooth-100Screen-Comp…

Limited-time deal: Projector, Native 1080P Bluetooth Projector with 100''Screen, 9500L Portable Outdoor Movie Projector Compatible with Smartphone, HDMI,USB,AV,Fire Stick, PS5 https://amzn.asia/d/ilF5Z10

I bought one of these. $117 and has Bluetooth connectivity for external speakers. Includes a 100” screen.

  • The 9500L ones linked above by mister-z and hexa (with BT) or the OP one too, are these good to use as a spare computer monitor (not gaming, just home office usage)?

    • +1

IMO no. I have the 9500L. The edges of the projected area (especially the corners) don't focus sharp enough.

You don't notice this for video watching and it's a great projector for many uses. But at this price point the lens system isn't anywhere near as good as a higher end projector. The keystone adjustment also means you can't get all areas in sharp focus. So best image quality is only possible if the projector is pointing directly at the middle of the projection area.

You'd also need a pretty dark room, and to project a relatively small screen for it to be sharp enough to be useable.

The fan is also pretty noisy. Not an issue with a movie cranked up, but way too loud for a home office, unless noise doesn't worry you.

      • Thanks. Would you say it would be appropriate / significantly better if used at 30" monitor size equivalent?
        Ignoring fan noise of course

        • +1

So I think I was too pessimistic - I did some testing and I think your office screen idea is worth a try.

My 9500L is on my houseboat, but I have an older, dimmer 720P projector, so out of curiosity I plugged it in and aimed it at the wall in my home office. It can do a 28" screen, and it actually looked significantly better than I expected, despite being 720P.

The image sharpness issues apparent at 100" are much much less noticeable at 30", or 40". Brightness at that size was also better than I expected. You still need to have it as close to directly in front of the middle of the screen as possible, and avoid using the keystone correction.

One thing to note is that the minimum screen size for the 9500L is listed as 40", with the screen 6.8 feet from the projector.

It presumably won't be able to focus at a shorter distance / smaller screen size than that. I tend to think that at 40" it would look fairly reasonable for your use.

Of the projectors linked in the comments here, I have only used the 9500L. For $117 with the $10 off coupon it's a decent deal I think. The others list smaller minimum screen sizes though.

@Prong: Awesome, thanks so much for your detailed reply.
Now I'll just design and 3D print something to redirect the fan noise when I get some time.
This is a fraction of the cost of a regular monitor and portable too.

  • Easy to mount these things on the ceiling?

  • For a cheapy I thoroughly recommend this blitzwolf https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/769968
It’s also recommended as currently the best cheapy by the youtuber mentioned in this post.
