I'm blown away by the amount of product information and anecdotes in the comments so far.
Although, I was already sold after reading the original description.

    Bought one OP!

  • Looks retro

  • I love my Breville Bakery Chef mixer. Only used it to whip cream so far, but I feel like a serious cook with a big machine like that on the bench. You can get the Breville Scraper Mixer for less than this Kenwood btw.

    • And I can buy a Great Wall for less than a Porsche, what’s your point?

      • I dunno. I think I confused the Scraper Mixer with the cheaper Scraper Beater actually. The Bakery Chef is meant to be the replacement model for the Scraper Mixer iirc. It's all very confusing and I'm not the kitchen appliance expert.

    • I got the Scraper Mixer from this deal for $99 (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/316616).
It jumped off the bench (literally) just after the warranty period ended. Then we bought a Kenwood ChefXL.
No complaints with any of the two.

I did see in a review that the Scraper Mixer can move when mixing dough. I think it was the American Test Kitchen review. They complained also that it struggled with mixing dough saying all their test machines broke, but other reviews I found didn't have the same problem. The complaint I did see a lot was that the bowl wasn't big enough to do two batches of bread dough at once. The instruction book for the Bakery Chef recommends leaving enough room for some movement on bench. The thing is so heavy it's hard to image it moving, but I've never made dough before so I wouldn't know.

For $99 I'd buy it for a spare machine I think, assuming it is basically the same as the Bakery Chef I have.

This model is so good. All the old accessories from the 60's and 70's OG versions fit the new classic. I can't believe a company did that in this day and age. So many 2nd hand accessories on ebay. Proper bargain!

  • This deal is so bla

Pretty good price considering I posted a deal on this for $299 back in 2014.

I've had mine for over 10 years. Love the 800w motor. No issues at all. Just had to replace a worn out whisk wire. Recommend getting the liquidiser and various front attachments.

  • Breville LEM250SIL good buy at $186 - recommended by Choice. This didn't get reviewed…:/

Myers sold this for $269 on the Boxing Day special, and Shopback gave me $28.78 as well. Shows there must still be some margin for them to price drop more.

Only use it to make pizza dough, the gear box is well suited to the motor. People must be mixing concrete in them for them to break

  • is this good for pizza dough ppl?

    • See previous comment

  • do the super old meat grinder attachments work on this?

    • Yeh , theres an app for that now
