No idea when this started sorry, my delivery arrived promptly, just left a review for them thought I should share. I am not affiliated with them in any way other than drinking their excellent coffee. There was another sale by them recently at which I picked up two bags, plenty of comments on that regarding the quality. Excellent communication from order to delivery so you are never left wondering. Commend them for that. Anyway, if you decide to pick up some, try a bag then when you come back for more this makes it affordable.

No idea when this started sorry
March 2022.
This is their normal price for the 4-pack.
Aldi Lazzio is only $11.99 for 1kg and I can buy it fresh without buying such a big amount.
Cost me $14.99 a few days ago, are you sure it's $11.99?
Yes, bought in SA. Where did you buy yours?
VIC, you'd better stock up

Hardly a comparison
Waiting for the gabagol favour
Hope the goomah appreciates it
I bought their Sophia and Castillo blend last time and I gotta say it was not good.
Sophia has very strong ash/burnt taste no matter how much is used in pour over. If I had to describe it, it would be unbuttered burnt popcorn taste.
Castillo while not bad, I personally don't think it's worth the extra over Aldi's med roast.
I also got Sophie and Castillo. Sophie is practically undrinkable for me. Good to hear Castillo is less bad. Next batch I'll be back to my usual lime blue coffee.
You know. It had been a few days since I had the Castillo when I made the comment so I had forgotten but Castillo definitely still has the same but less amount of ash/burnt taste to it.
I've also adjusted some of my V60 brew methods and it seems to have helped with the taste. The brews have come out less ash/burnt but still overpowering in the coffee taste and I'm not sure if I can taste much else.
I compared it to Aldi's medium roast that I had sitting around (roasted 3.5 months ago, frozen for 1 month then taken out and apart from taking doses out a few times sitting in airtight bag with no light since). And it's definitely more interesting than the Soprano coffee. It has acidity at the start and a sweet aftertaste between sips. While I can't say I enjoy the acidity that much, the sweet aftertaste is rather pleasant.
Just my thoughts.
Thanks! I ended up binning the rest of my Sophie and have been drinking Castillo on my V60. It's drinkable but it's not something I look forward to like I usually do for good coffees.
We bought Sophie and enjoy it immensely. We had an issue with Caramella tasting dreadful and contacted Craig about it. We could not get it to pour properly initially either. He suggested to leave the bag open for a couple so it can degass as its very fresh. We did so and now really enjoying it. Surprised at the difference it made. Not used to really fresh coffee so now know to degass as needed. Suggest if you have an issue reach out to Craig, he is always available to assist. May take a day or so to respond.
I emailed him 2 weeks ago, mind you was a polite email too.
No response.
Bought their last deal, binned both bags. E-mailed the rep, no response either.
Beans were super oily, super burnt.
Can't bring myself to bin them even though they're almost undrinkable
Yeah I was hesitant, but life is too short to have shit coffee.
Thanks you inspired me to bin it
Which one u tried last time? I got mine (Caramello and Sophie Blend) quite good for sure with milk. Little bit darker than normal medium roast but still ok for espresso. I thought I want to get some more as I just finished those last week.
But 2kg for $50 still good deal, not 4kg for sure.Aldi blend still best in price and taste wise.
I bought Mocha Supremo and Castillo, I started with the Castillo and then opened the Mocha Supremo and didn't bother putting it into my grinder.
Took photos of both, sent it to the rep and no response so threw both into the bin.
I know, what a waste, but rather not consume it and also it made a mess in my burr grinder as well.
So you don't like oily, fair enough but I don't see that as reason for complaint since its a preference - https://acquiredcoffee.com/should-coffee-beans-be-oily-or-dr….
What I have noted is their very fresh, leaving the bag open for them to de-gass is likely to change the flavour profile quite a lot. Not that you will try again but in future for anyone else who has the ash flavour. Give it a try.
this pricing makes no sense.
2 bags for $50 or 4 for $120!
https://www.sopranocoffee.com.au/mates-rate-2-x-1kgs-roasted…
that is some mafia maths!
Not if you know the 2 for 50 was a one off special. The 4 for 120 has been their forever it seems. I posted it here because it’s a decent price for good coffee and it makes sense to let the coffee lovers know. I recently had mine delivered and rather happy with the outcome, nearly half way through the order already. Discovered another roaster just last week. If they have specials will post them.
Why would I buy so much coffee at once? I never heard of them, so I would usually for a sample pack.
