  • I currently have an online $14pm MS365 subscription and MS Account.

Can this be used to pay for 12M of that existing account ?

Or do you have to set up a new MS account to use this?

    Thanks

    • Yes it can. I was on a single MS365 plan with x months to run, bought MS365 Family, which added additional 12 months plus some of the remaining time from the single MS365. FYI you don’t get to keep all the remaining time with upgrading plans because family has more “features/users”

  • Do I actually get the box for my shelf?

I like this offer. Even the RRP is a bargain imo, if you have five other people who need Office and will use 1TB of OneDrive each. I've shared it with so many people I'm thinking of starting a second family to get even more.

  • Unlikely to price match Officeworks. They have a digital download, Centrecom isn’t digital download

I’m out of the loop. Can’t you pay a once off for office anymore and “own” MS word and PowerPoint? Why is everything yearly fees now

    • Agree fully. See my comment below.

    • MS have changed their pricing models to make it more affordable artificially.

So instead of paying $200 odd for one time version, you can pay $8.20 per month or $139 per year regular price.

      • Yeah…after 2 years you own nothing… whereas the one-off, at most you don't get update but still usable…

        • +1

yes but majority of people don't think like that. They think "oh $8.20 per month, I can afford that!"

          Very smart play by Microsoft

I just bought Office Pro 2021 lifetime licence for Windows for US$40 from here:

    https://shop.macworld.com/sales/microsoft-office-pro-plus-20…

I believe it’s genuine and legitimate. Activated on Microsoft’s website (had to create an account). You can download it from there. Macworld gives you the instructions.

A good option if you want it without cloud storage. For me I buy it for the onedrive cloud storage and effectively get up to date office apps for free.

    • It's not legitimate. Pro Plus license are volume licenses, that can only legally be used by the organisation they were issued to. They are never sold as individual licenses by Microsoft or any legitimate sellers of Microsoft products. It activated because it is a genuine license. But if Microsoft ever find that the license is being used illegally, they will deactivate it and the license will no longer work. Sometimes licenses get deactivated after a few months and sometimes they never get deactivated.

Another problem with these cheap licenses, is that sometimes sellers will sell the same product key to a number of people, because the same key can be activated 10 or 20 times. If you reinstall Windows, your office key may not activate again as it has already been activated the maximum number of times.

My work gives me this for free.

Does it come with Microsoft editor pro?

  • Unpopular opinion but I won't be stacking this time around. If you stack one year ahead, consider that you are actually paying X% more, because you could have put the money in your high interest savings account or your mortgage redraw / offset account earning that X%, or in the case of buying the software subscription one year in advanced, paying X% more because you can buy later. Worse if you stack 2 years or more. X% is really high now, but MS 365 when bought through third party sellers has remained similar like earlier years.

At call interest rates on $92 vs not having to think about renewing license for a few years. Plus hyperinflation on retail may mean in a year these might be RRP$179 and $129 on sale. It's a good price, I'm gonna stack a few more.

Back in my day when your bought software you owned it. /Grumpyoldmanrant

    • And mere mortals could afford a house

    • You can use open office and others for free! This comes with 1TB cloud storage per user and that alone makes this a good deal.

Wow just saw officeworks sell the "own it" version of office 2021 for $697. That's about 7 years of subscriptions. I'm sure by 2030 office 2021 will be pretty dated.

I just used this last week. $40 for 6 months. Got key instantly and extended my current subscription without any problems.

    • Those cheap licenses will usually activate with no issues, but are being sold illegally. See my reply to someone else about cheap licenses.

It's not possible to legally purchase cheap Windows or Office product keys.

    • Thanks for this. It's really cheap for annual family sub, only $80.

I price matched at OW $87.40. Got 2 years worth.
