Boost Mobile: $19 Cashback on $15 SIM (55 GB 28-Days) @ Zip (App Required)

550

I was browsing the zip cashback stores (guess had nothing better to do this evening) and found that zip has an increased cashback of $19 for boost store purchases till the end of this month. Earn $4 from the $15 starter pack. I have also found that the Cashback appears instantly as a reward for redemption.
To earn cashback, simply click on the boost mobile store via the zip app and make your purchase normally and pay using zip.

Note: Cashback does not apply for $2 sim or $10 starter pack purchases.

Edit: As highlighted by @TanedaR here - redemption of cashback can only be done in chunks of $20.

Hope this helps some of us.

As always,Enjoy!

the Cashback appears instantly as a reward for redemption.

I believe you will need to accumulate $20 of cashback in order to redeem.
That's exactly why they've set it as $19 cashback, $1 short in order to force you to spend more somewhere else.
No thanks, I will stick with cashreward for Boost sim cards.
Zip's offers are just not attractive at all.

    • +1

Not a bad deal if you've got accumulated cashback from promos sitting below that threshold. Unfortunately my balance just got wiped - but possibly of use for someone else

      • +2

It is still a bad deal because you can only redeem your cashback in blocks of $20.
i.e. if you've got $10 of cashback sitting there +$19 from this offer = $29
then you can only redeem $20 and left $9 un-touch.
No you can't redeem $29 at once.
and yeah, you're right, they do wipe out your cashback balance regularly.
Their other offers are just not attractive when comparing with CR/SB or using a discounted gift card.

IMO it's one of the worst cashback program.

        • +1

Terrible take. You can get 3 SIM's for free with this deal, INSTANTLY. No waiting 1 - 3 months for something that may or may not be approved or track. And you can keep buying SIMs and use the cashback to buy anything you want where Zip Pay is accepted as a payment method.

          i.e. You buy 4 x $15 SIMs = $60 in total
Get $76 in cashback, put $60 on your ZIP balance and leave $16 in unclaimed cashback.

Boom. 4 x SIMs for free instantly

At this point you could keep buying SIMs to increase your cashback balance and then use the cashback to buy whatever you want.

This is literally free money so I'm not sure how it's a bad deal?

Edit: Also, you don't have to activate within 30 days which is a bonus.

    • Yes you are right - sorry forgot the $20 constraint while redeeming. I had $3 in my rewards so I could redeem instantly.
But agree with the comments - I was also close to losing my rewards. They sent me an email. I did one transaction which I was doing anyways and got saved from my rewards getting wiped out - so word of caution for all of us.

    • +1

This deal indicates that Boost does not care the activation of a sold SIM within 30 days or not at all.

    • Think again,

e.g. you buy 5 of these you earn $95 (while having spent $75 only) so $20 profit that you can take out while you earn an extra $5 rewards.

You are already $5 in profit, (because you only spent $75, and can withdraw $80).
      and withdrawal is almost instant

PLUS NO need to activate sim in 30 days - that alone with 100% CB/reward is good enough for me

if you could somehow buy 20x these sim deals then you are already $80 in profit

  • Don't have a Zip account; never used it before. Is it good? Has anybody used their cashback program? Is it reliable?

    • +3

I use zip to double dip on my credit card. There will be no fees, as long as you pay off full outstanding amount by the end of the month. So, I use zip for all my daily transactions, mostly in store ones, and then use my CC to pay off my zip account. Zip gives 30 days to pay and then by using my cc to pay zip gives me an extra month to pay my cc.
Eg. If I spend say $100 on 1-Mar using zip, it comes on my zip statement on 31-Mar, to be paid by 30-Apr. Then on 30-Apr, I pay off my full outstanding balance on zip(to avoid fees). My cc statement date is 3-4 of every month(which doesn’t really help a lot) , but in my case I get upto 28th of the next month to pay cc. So in this eg. I pay for purchase I made on 1-Mar on 28-May. If your cc statement date is later in the month, then you can potentially get even more days to pay it off.
Cashback - few comments here suggesting it’s not one of the best. There have been times when zip has some promotional cashback offers which most of us would have availed. But yes, the $20 to redeem cashback is a bummer and might not suit lot of us.
      Hope this helps.

      • can u use CC to pay off ZIP balance? Last time i used, it did not allow me to pay using a CC. this was a year back, i think

        • +1

I have always only used my CC to pay off zip balance. I have been doing that since I got zip a couple years ago. Not sure if things have changed since, but it’s still working for me.

            • +1

@INFIDEL: I just paid off some balance with a credit card last week. It asks for a debit card, but I added a credit card without issue. I used to pay it off by Bundll MC.

              • @Neoika: Just tried as my CC was replaced with card with different number. Had no current payment method - ZIP kept telling me to add!

Refused to add my Visa CC, only a Debit card.

                Am not a big spender.
Last used ZIP after signing up & using for 10% back - in Dec 2020!

                [Update]
Thanks, it added CC (possibly because I first added Debit card).
                Set primary account to CC👍

                • @INFIDEL: CBA, WBC backed credit cards are more likely to apply cash advance.

        • sadly amex can't be used to clear zip balance. However, MC or VISA should be fine.

  • does it not stack with the cashrewards cashback if you use zip one time card or do you need to do it via the zip app only?

    • +1

If I am not wrong, I believe for ZipPay cashbacks, you need to shop WITHIN the ZipPay app.

  • If cashback is instantly avail for credit, does that mean Zip weather the loss for rejected cashback (e.g. gift card payment etc which go through as pending until rejected by merchant).

Wondering if there's some loophole to use Zip vs SB/CR for certain merchants

    • You have to use zip's in-app single use visa card as payment method.
can't think of any possible scenario where your cashback will be rejected.

      • Promo codes not allowed by CR/SB?

        • +1

I think not possible to stack. Purchase tracking method is different.

You can use Zip single use Visa card for CR Boost deal, but that's not how Zip tracks the Boost purchase.

          • @Neoika: Exactly zip tracks boost using its own browser tracking link t.jump…… similar to how cashrewards and other providers use a tracking link to track cashback

  • Thanks, bought 2.

    • Did you get both cashback?

      • Yes, I got the cashback in a minute.

  • The accumulated funds will become void. I lost $15 because the redemption amount must be a multiple of $20. While I utilize Zip, I'm not enthusiastic about their cashback system.

    • -5

      You will get $40 sim.

  • Nice find OP.

Is this only for 1 purchase transaction per ZipPay account?

    • You can buy as many as you want.

    • +1

That’s an interesting question - I tried reading the terms but can’t see any mention of how many times you can get this. May be someone more knowledgeable than me can confirm ?

  • +1

Thanks OP - I had $1.25 in rewards so this is perfect for me.

  • If it was $20 minimum it’s not so bad. But $20 blocks is ridiculous.

Which idiot dreamed up those rules?

    • +1

The smart guy that want you to keep using your Zip account ;)

  • +2

Discussed extensively in Cashrewards BOOST Deal 4 days ago.
Was suggested to post this as a Deal😉

    • Deal in the comment is only for those dedicated.

      • +1

Yes, saw in Zip app. But am not dedicated to Zip $20 withdrawals. Only withdrew with larger offers when Zip started.

        • +1

Just make 20 purchases then withdraw $380

          • @rpb: Boost may have a different opinion on that😉

    • Wow - I certainly missed it while it was more profitable 😟

  • Thanks, I bought 4. +$16 in account. I feel bad about buying more!

    • +2

Buy 1 more to make up $20 withdrawals ?

  • +4

I've been doing this over the last few days to confirm it wasn't an error as it previously worked on the $2 sim, they have caught onto that error.
Max rewards redemption is $120 per 24hrs.
I've so far got 11 $15 sims and 2 $2 sims on the way. I've redeemed the Cashback to my account, owe nothing and purchased a $66 Woolworths gift card with the extra funds and still have $10 in the Cashback section.

    • owe nothing

It can still adjust your balance.

      • From experience? I was wondering about it being possible.

        • +2

Not sure about adjusting balance, but I have definitely had my rewards adjusted by zip later. I was filling up petrol at Costco and you need to authorise an amount. Zip initially credited the reward based on the authorised amount but then later adjusted it to the amount I actually paid. That’s my experience - so I am definitely not going to try making more than one purchase. But each to their own.

          • +1

@Dealking: All of my zip purchases have gone from pending to processed and all my reward redeemed are still there.

            • @rpb: You could be right - technically each time it generates a single use card. So as far as boost is concerned, they might be seeing it coming from a different card, although it might be linked to the same zip account. So boost will probably not have issues approving the cashback.
But I am no expert - should I risk $15 to earn $4 and a SIM card I don’t need? Not for me.

              • @Dealking: Yeah well as per my screenshot lower down I’ve only been doing $2 SIMs. I read the terms and there was no minimum purchase amount and not limit on number of redemptions. Like I said in the other thread where I discovered this, they usually give out $10 so it has been open to this use for a while now. The interesting this is that while the page before you go to Boost to purchase has always said $19 for a while the tile on the cashback page said 19%.

                • @rpb: Fair point, I guess it doesn’t mention any limit on number of purchases anywhere in the terms. But I can see that the description now includes a line saying $2 and $10 SIM cards are not eligible for cashback offer.

                  • @Dealking: Yeah that is new. I’ll stop now as I play by the rules

              • @Dealking: Oh and another thing is Boost will stop you ordering SIMs if you try to buy too many. People have noted this previously in the Cash Rewards deals. It seems boost limits sims per delivery address. They wouldn’t send me anymore Thursday but they posted out some on Friday and I was able to order two more this evening. YMMV

            • @rpb: My reward balance is now -24 due to this reason, and some of my orders were cancelled by the merchants.

              • @T-man: Boost he posted my sims so the merchant side looks good

          • @Dealking: That's the only issue I see, if boost reject the sim purchase, you lose the Cashback. But you'll also have the purchase refunded. If my recent ones get rejected then I'm left owing for a woolies gift card, which is no big deal.
Adjusting your Cashback to the amount actually spent on fuel is so.ething you'd expect to happen anyway.

            • @JamesLucas: Yes - fair point, guess it’s nothing to lose situation.

    • +1

I bought another $2 after this was posted and it worked as it has the last few days

    • +1

Yeah just worked on a $2 again now

    • +1
      • +1

This could be risky as Zip can readjust your balance though.

  • Does the sim card remain valid for 365 days like Amaysim?

    • +2

No. About 6 months after activation on Boost. Good for incoming calls & SMS.

Amaysim is handy to park phone numbers & receive calls & SMS for over a year after activation.
It's automatically PAYG after paid service ends. Any credit left can be used for calls etc. Can extend for another year by adding $10 credit.

  • Bought tonight through CR for $20 back on $15 purchase (including targeted bonus $5 cashback).
$1 more than here, but downside is waiting for cashback.

  • Anyone finding Boost painfully slow in regional areas? Thinking of going back to Telstra.

    • +1

You realise, Boost is on Telstra network.

  • Zip was only useful for me with the twice 10% off just about everything that you could use to buy GCs such as Aldi that aren't available by other methods such as Amex. Because it was such amounts, you could optimise to get the last $20 withdrawal.

  • +1

For me the best thing about this is the no 30 day activation limit.

Great for a monthly sim hopper like myself.

Does anyone have any cheap suggestions for the alternate months ?

    • +1

If you have a phone that has eSIM capability, get a yearly Amaysim eSIM from this deal to use as your main number, and then use the physical Boost SIMs for data. This way you don't have to change your number every month

    • Thanks for the replies guys.
I just saw the Aussie broadband deal. Might take that up when my mate 3 dollar 3 month Plan finishes next week and save the boost sims I bought through zip for the future. No 30 day activation limit is so refreshing.

      • Yeah I wanted to buy a bunch of boost sims with this deal to just have kicking around, not worrying about any 30 day activation. Sadly I pussyfooted around by waiting on a referral and missed out by minutes, as they have changed the T&C's to have a minimum $30 spend now.

        • Oh no, 30 min spend
I bought the max 7 sims allowed and was going to wait a week or more to order more
I made 28 dollars profit. But have 13 dollars cashback that I can’t withdraw and will probably expire.
I’m happy with the $15 profit and no 30 day activation limit.
Just hoping the expiry date on them is late next year.

          • @kdmeir: The last couple I bought expiry was end of June 2024.

  • Does Zip still require credit check? I remember wanting to give it a go last time but was reluctant due to cc.

    • Yes - it does require a credit check. It will come up on your credit file - same as any other cc.

  • Party is over. Was generating $2 sims with $19 cashback all of last night.

    • Yep… reckon these transactions are gonna be reversed for a lot of people tbh

      • I think they're honouring it tbh. Mine is still there.

        • They can reverse it (according to their T&Cs). Have done it myself but fully expect them to reverse a lot of the $2 ones…

          • +1

@Bigboy97: Best to redeem it as soon as you can. I suppose it's like a price error if the business deemed it's worth a write off then they will do it.

  • +1

thanks. so have made 4 orders.. $0 spent

4 of $40 Boost prepaid SIM and $16 Zip Rewards balance.

gonna do this all day long.. is there a hard limit?

    • So $10 gives you $4 cashback?

      • no. i bought the $15 sim card.

  • +3

Lol. They updated their t&cs again.
    Min spend 30 party's over.
    🤣🤣🤣

    • +1

      Yeah just saw this.

Missed out by moments/hours. Should've signed up sooner. Fuxk. :(

      Wasted a referral.

    • damn, its too soon to be over. i stopped at 5x

      • Same here. I was gonna hit to 60 today. Stop at 53 here. 🫠

    • Someone want to risk $15 ?

      • I think even $2 one will still get cashback too. But just don't wanna against the t&cs.

      • +1

Just made a purchase, did not get rewards (may be because I changed name ? i doubt that though)

Now down $15 hoping to get cancellation from Boost

        • +1

          Thank you for your sacrifice
