Hmmm.. was seiously thinkg about a 7900xtx now…
started reading all the reviews.. then came across this..

    https://www.techpowerup.com/review/sapphire-radeon-rx-7900-x…

NB the power consumption with multimonitor..

Looks like AMD has been aware for months, and possibly years on their cards.. but nothing has been done about it..

    • Oh man, I was quite keen on one of these. Now I've gotta go back to the research because I'm not sure I want it to be running with that much power 24/7 since my setup will always be multi monitor

Unfortunately it's an NVIDIA issue to for a long time too, which comes and goes with different drivers. People need to realise that certain applications active GPU acceleration even when the system is supposedly idle.

      https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/wvugxc/nvidia…

" This has been an issue since always, I remember when the 144hz monitors started really taking off there were some cards that didn't idle down at all and could use like 200w+(thanks fermi).

My buddy's 3080 chugs down like 160w at idle on windows"

Supposedly recent reviews from April onwards with the Sapphire 7900XTX seem to indicate that it's idle powerdraw with multi monitors is actually lower than the new 4070.

      • Look at the Techpower review..

        https://www.techpowerup.com/review/sapphire-radeon-rx-7900-x…

looks like its generally fixed on the Nvidia side of things.. RTX 4090 is 27W, the Sapphire RX 7900 XTX 24gb is 104W

any links fro the sapphire reviews showing it is fixed..?

      • I have a 4080 running a 4K/60Hz display for work/productivity and a 1440p/144 display for gaming. My card sips like 15W-20W at idle. I am not in front of the PC currently and can’t remember the exact figure, but it is very, very low.

      • Depends on how many monitors are connected, and whether Windows 11 with bells and whistles on.
I have 2 monitors and running windows 10, where my 3080 idles with a 37W power draw shown in GPU-Z.

    • Wow that was a lot more than I expected.
I thought it was going to just be the general jump in idles we've seen on other cards since i think GDDR6 came along, but that's not normal.
Pascal used to have good multi monitor idle, I wonder if they still do or if it's a driver thing.

  • The description for the links to the Asus RX 7900 XT should include OC. Does anyone know why the non-OC version is $100 more expensive? I am after the non-OC version as the OC will not fit into my NR200P case.

It does - read the fourth word

I am after the non-OC version as the OC will not fit into my NR200P case

What specs are you reading? ASUS says both the OC and non-OC 7900 XT have the same 3.63 slot cooler and 352.9mm card length

These non-reference cards are confirmed working in the NR200P
