Cricut Joy Machine $185 (Was $349) Delivered @ Spotlight (Free VIP Membership Required)

131
GET40

Not the lowest it's ever been which was about $129, but there hasn't been anything this low for a while.

Apparently RRP is $349, but seems to be regularly going for $249, so this is a decent saving off the regular price.

Edit: Current price for members dropped to $225, and then the GET40 code brings it down to $185.

Might be worthwhile for someone who's been holding off and waiting to pull the trigger.

Have the Explore Air 2, it's good. For doing stuff just around the house, water bottle stickers, bumper stickers, some medium t-shirt designs, stuff like that - I think the Joy would be fine.

Also someone in another post mentioned the subscription service - that isn't necessary. Without it there is plenty of free resources online for fonts and vector images that can be cut out.

EnJoy.

Edit 2: There is some conversation that this might be targeted, or that the code isn't valid. YMMV. Here is a screenshot of it applying in the cart https://imgur.com/apX9L27

We have this and it is pretty good for making custom cards. Everyone is always very impressed with the cards. The materials are an ongoing cost that would be worth picking up with the discount as well. Good gift for a creative teen!

    • How do you make your cards, your own designs or make them from downloaded designs?

      • +1

Both, you can find free svg files all over the internet. You can even convert jpg images to svg using free ai image processing.
Heaps of fonts are free. You can choose everything or use a free template. Or you can buy a design to use from the app (not as creative).
You need card stock in a certain size (you can just cut it to size), the cutting tool (comes with) and the pen.
There is a little bit of a learning curve, but once you know the basics you can make anything really.

you can also use any branded material doesn't have to be cricut branded

just cut down 12x12 vinyl to fit on the joy mat instead of buying the smaller sized rolls

What the hell is a Joy Machine, ozbargain after dark?

    • +1

      Its one that sparks joy.

  • I've made heaps of logo stickers, find the SVG or do an image trace in illustrator

Targeted? It states that I need to sign in with correct VIP club account, which I did but not working.

    • +2

Strange - the email was a very generic marketing email, subject "[NAME], Catalogue Still On PLUS Exclusive VIP Coupon Inside!".

I believe it is single use only - have you used it before by any chance

Edit: Here is another post with the code https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/773728

T&C stated "Not to be used in conjunction with any other voucher, coupon, or team member discount."

VIP club member falls into the team member discount. So not a deal

      • I also received the GET40 coupon via email. Just tried and it will apply to the Cricut Joy, bringing it down to $185.

Has anyone got this code to work for the Cricut?

    • +1

Yes, here is a screenshot. I've also added it to the description. https://imgur.com/apX9L27

      • Cheers, yeah doesn't seem to work for me. Signed up for a new account and still no love, I get the VIP price but the code doesn't work.

      • out of curiostiy, does the code show in your VIP club benefits? https://imgur.com/a/bjx9wAv

        • Nope not for me, but it might be because I used it? But I don't think so

          • @AlwaysOnThePun: Tried again today out of curiosity and the code worked. Cheers

@mark-emark: Really, how strange. I've always had success with spotlight codes, but seems for a small audience they can be a bit hit and miss. Glad you got it going anyway!

  • Can you get cheap aftermarket parts like blades and pens? How long do the parts last? Does it become expensive to run outside the cost of the actual stock/vinyl/paper/card being used?

    • you won't be changing blades that often,

pens you can use 3d printed adapters so the pens sit at the right height, or use the tape method - see youtube.

actual stock doesn't have to be cricut branded

they charge extra for the subscription but it's not required, sort of like clipart/fonts

      • Agree with all of the above. Many reviews on Amazon say the 3rd party vinyl and tools are better. I would agree with my limited experience, I prefer the htvront vinyls than the cricut ones I've used.
