or August for Watch 6
Hard to buy these for $500 when the LTE ones were sold for only $300+
Wait why is LTE cheaper than BT? any limitations in LTE model?
It was just a better sale.

@truetypezk: Oh dear missed a great deal the !
@TheTeamRanger: Yeah somehow it didn't get much attention here on the forum. I would say it is an amazing price.

Honestly unless you plan on being away from your phone a lot the lte version isn't that important.
It's great if you go running or whatever and leave your phone at home, but otherwise it really doesn't add much functionality
not bigger battery? in the past models lte (and bigger mm) usually pack more mah
hasn't been the case for the last 3 generations
This is exactly right! I had both BT and LTE watches for years and you rarely ever use the LTE. i.e. who actually calls anyone anymore?
Saying that, if they were same price I would always go LTE just to have the option, knowing I firmware updates will always take longer than BT.
Yeah def, if the prices were more or less the same lte is a no brainer, but also keep in mind you'll also save 5-10 bucks a month by not adding a watch to your phone plan.
Not only save $5 a month… but also save being on an expensive phone plan or limited to Optus/Voda/Telstra. I need Telstra service, so went from Boost to Telstra. Going back to Boost. Works out to cost me $40 extra a month for LTE capability in a watch (I only use 15gb data a month) - rip off!!!
Also, for those not in the Samsung eco system, the Ticwatch 5 pro should be out in a few weeks…
Using tic pro 3 atm… Waiting for tic pro 5 and samsung pro 6 to release before I take a call.
Speaking of LTE - I got the LTE in the last Samsung deal published here about a month ago ($520 w/ a bit ugly sports strap).
I plan to use it while sailing my dinghy where I can't take my phone with me.
It could be useful without an eSIM but I wonder if anyone here found the cheapest plan or pre-paid option that can cover the few moments in a month that I might be with the watch and without the phone.
Also - I assume that having an eSIM configured on the watch will drain the battery a little faster, is it possible to avoid this by leaving the eSIM configured but disabling LTE when not needed?
By default LTE gets switched off automatically when the watch gets connected to the phone using BT.
also there's a trivial hack to use an eSIM from any of the providers installed onto the watch (watch will have its own number and plan). Currently on Lebara $10/yr PAYG plan.
You mean $10 for an entire year?
How much data is included in it?
I can't see it on their website (https://www.lebara.com.au/prepaid-plans/long-expiry/)
Thanks.
Check below:
You can use prepaid sim
Yes that's what I was thinking about. Do you know a good plan suitable for such use?
