Is it the current model for this brand?

    • 3 is the latest

    • No, current model is the Watch 3

    • No, previous generation.

But it shares the same processor, so performance wise it would be similar. Just missing a few extras available on the latest version.

      • so performance wise it would be similar.

so bugs and update errors just like the 1 and 3. 😔

  • 3 is the latest watch frm pixel

LEGEND!! Have been waiting from long time for a pixel watch deal :)

  • For LTE do we need to have a full service carrier on plan? Does prepaid services support lte on smartwatches?

    • +1

Full service yes on postpaid, havent seen any prepaid offering yet.

      • +1

Unless your sideload apk and scan a qr code of prepaid from telstra

        • How does that work? Side loading is not an issue. But how do you share the same phone number across two devices?

          • @Oh Daddy: Not same number, just a standalone service. So data to receive notifications

  • So worth doing 24 months at $8.70/month interest free rather than outright or something I'm missing?

    • +8

Bro its $200 i rather pay full now and get it done asap

      • +1

Good on you, I was more surprised they are offering it without a surcharge for not going outright. If already with Telstra paying monthly then it's just an addition not a nuisance Bro

      • take this advice from me. do not buy PW1, 2, or 3. seem to get bad voted when saying this in PW deals but I have warned many people many times.

they have had many issues including these i remember. 1. Crown randomly stops working for scroll, it's supposed to only work in compatible apps (even though, seriously?) but this was happening in the default apps that are on the watch from google factory. makes me think it's a hardware problem (Crown faulty) and afaik it was never fixed with an update because I remember a couple of reviewers saying they would "update you on if it gets fixed with software" but they never posted an update about it.
        2. the alarm doesn't ring at the time you set, and sometimes instead goes off at random times like 4 in the morning waking you up.
        3. regular bugs and errors in updates. notifications completely stop working, extreme battery drain, and other small bugs that just shouldn't be there from a big company like google.

        • PW3 is $400 at the moment. But yeah, I'm waiting for PW4.

          • @serpserpserp:

            I'm waiting for PW4.

I would still be careful. watch plenty of early honest reviews. not the ad reviews that all get uploaded on the same day. try to find some early written reviews by actual customers.

some history I learned about Fitbit/Google. Fitbit was never great they were just OK. Google bought Fitbit. after this all Fitbits released were worse in quality (bands coming off, breaking after months, water entering, dead screens) and function (innacurate sensors) than the old models they replaced. then Google released PW1 from the tech they bought from Fitbit, except it's all the same junk poor quality hardware, and Google somehow also messed up Android Wear OS on their own watch (it was known to be terrible on 3rd party brand watches because it wasn't designed by those brands for their own watches).

            • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Yeah I know. I've been planning on buying a pixel watch since they were announced, but they have never passed muster for the price.

              • @serpserpserp: yeah to me at least with PW1, 2, 3, release. they just don't really bother fixing the quality, just discount "the last model" by 50% just before releasing the next one (PW4) then repeat. 😐

I'll be honest I was tempted when I saw them on sale too because the design is so fancy. the rounded and edgeless glass design is very pretty. except enough terrible feedback kept me smarter.

also I was a bit harsh with "except it's all the same junk poor quality hardware, it is their flagship so compared to Fitbit's under $300 models they will probably put their TOTL sensors in PW, but they are still having quailty issues with hardware such as the crown etc.

at least not as bad as crooked OLED displays on the $1k Galaxy Watch Ultra. imagine paying that much and the screen is not straight. 😂

                • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: The reality isn't always the same as what is presented in videos. I've had the Pixel 1 since launch and have not experienced any of the issues you've listed, and it's still going fine. Perhaps speak to some actual owners of the watch to get their real unfiltered feedback rather than just rely only on YT videos.

        • Had my PW2 for 8 months, not a single issue.

    • A hard credit check is more expensive than $200.

    • They automatically update your cart to outright when you select the 24/12 month plans because they're not available for accessories.

FYI managed to buy this and signed up on the spot with our telstra ID.

  • I ended up buying a Garmin venu watch. 14 days battery life was the deciding factor. It does most messaging and notifications including video, does a great job with fitness monitoring. I'm not sure what else I need a watch to do, other than you know, tell the time. Any pixel watch owners want to clarify what the big draw is for the pixel watch?

    • How much the garmin

      • +2

Like $500-$600 depending on model for most of them so I don't see the point of comparison here.

      • Venu 3 is the only one with AMOLED and 14 days battery (with AOD off). and yes it's $500 to $600.

    • +1

My ticwatch 3 has an almost indefinite (it's never stopped working since I have had it) battery life for basic watch functions, and while I have no doubt that this watch is better, I can't see myself giving up that feature. A couple of days battery life for me means getting caught out not even having a basic watch function

      • My ticwatch 3 pro has a dud battery, died and seems to never charge and get going.

Cfw seemed to have killed it, sadly, at it was a great watch. Had no luck getting it going

        • I got an e2 for a friend and he's having battery issues at exactly the two year mark, but I have been getting them on clearance when they are a few years old. Mine e2 purchased at the same time is still working and I plan to offload it, maybe to him or someone else in the family

        • Same. I went through 3 tw 3 pro with issues and gave up.

      • Ticwatch is terrible for heart rate accuracy even compared with so many smartwatches out there. Watch YouTube channel "The quantified scientist" to check the accuracy comparison of so many smartwatches, smart rings, etc.

Long time ago I used to admire Ticwatch, but after watching the accuracy comparison video, I bought Huawei GT-Runner few years ago during Black Friday under $250, still good until now and much more accurate than so many smartwatches out there, even if compared with Samsung and Garmin.

        @Jackson @LaTerrible

    • I had Venu and hated it, it was too overly complicated. I've got a Pixel Watch 2 now instead.

tried signing up for the telstra.. they want so much info…

also on sale elsewhere where you don't need telstra id

    • also on sale elsewhere

      For this price? Where?
I did my research already and the next cheapest is from Mobileciti

      • out of stock at google store..

        • Even if out of stock at Google Store, the LTE version for the same band is $379

I have the Pixel 2, wifi only. It has great functionality, HOWEVER, I have found the battery life terrible - it lasts maybe 24-36hrs. Whilst I can easily charge overnight this means I don't get the sleep data which is one of supposed features of the device. If I had my time again, I would buy another Garmin instead, which have similar features, but a battery life 5x better. Posting this here in case it helps anyone on the fence.

    • Smartwatches do not usually last more than a day, have to charge like every night.

Only smart bands last like a week or more unless a very expensive watch.

      • My previous Garmin was a smart watch - the battery lasted several days.

    • +3

But it's also charged fast. Maybe change your habit a little bit by charging during showering or watching TV. In case it can't last a day for heavy users, I would put it on charge in the morning too, similar to what I do to an old phone or phones a decade ago.

But I myself also fail to keep it on my hand. I also need a change.

    • I find the charging so fast that its never been problem for my wifi only PW2.
Just put it on charge once a day for 15 mins while you shower etc. each day and it's fine.

My only complaint is the GPS sucks more than I expected, I reverted back to using my phones GPS for tracking my runs GPS and just use the PW2 for broadcasting the HR.

    • It charges up quick, though. Place it on while showering

      • I don't want to have to constantly take it off and charge it though, would much prefer the convenience of better battery life, even if that means sacrificing some features.

        • +1

You constantly shower? It's the best compromise for those who want to keep their watch on most of the time, as I can't see a need to track health stats while showering.

  • +1

Possible to use eSIM from other providers?

    • Yes.

  • Got mine for $300 on the market last year and I thought cheap.

  • Does this pair with an iPhone? I was unable to get. Samsung Galaxy Watch to work with an iPhone. Do Pixel watches have the same problem?

    • +1

Yes. They are Android devices. You need an Apple Watch.

  • What plan are people intending to use with this?

  • No longer available

  • Ah missed this. It would have been perfect for kido.

    • He will curse you for making him charge daily

  • Are these priced the same in store if you can grab them there?
