Amazon lists them as USB 3.0 but images show 3.1(?)
This 64GB model seems to be a decent price, the 256GB is also reduced but not as great a deal at $64.98.
128GB model is full price at $55.30.

Camelcamelcamel seems to think it's a good deal: https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B07HPS8GQM

Not sure how these are with heat disipation.

Any USB-C thumb drives similar in physical size?

    • Searching for the same thing!
Settled on a USB C micro SD reader from ugreen so far

      • But how big is it (that's what she said)

        • Not sure, it's on its way… looks bigger than what I want/ this USB 3.1 one pictured. But it was $12 happy to take punt

  • Got the 256GB for 52.38 last month

Slightly off topic, I ordered the following USB 3.0 1TB thumb drive for $15.95 thinking that it's too good to be true and it would probably be a fake and I can get a refund from Amazon.

It turns out that it is indeed a 1TB thumb drive, I tried copying the 1TB worth of data and transferred it back to test it out. It functions well, the speed is okay and it doesn't get too warm either. I know I cannot trust it for my important data but it can be a backup drive of a backup. What am I missing, it still sounds too good to be true.

    • Your review has convinced me, got one :)

      • Cancel it. Check the vocabulary on reviews and seller profile; all paid for, and fake.

Sorry mate, I just tested it with the USB software mentioned in the comment below and it is indeed a fake. Sorry about that. You should be able to cancel it or return it.

Yeah it sadly doesn't work so it's going back, still props anyway man as it would have been a bargain if it did work …

Have you actually run it through usb testing software?

There are so many ways they can fake it.

They stopped overwriting "oldest data" for example, and started overwriting 'mid data'; so your oldest and newest file still work, making you think its legit.

    • “Fast read and write speeds” are not actual speeds.

Assuming this thing is a legit 1TB (which I highly doubt), how many hours did it take to fill it up?

Try H2testw on that drive. I bet it's fake and some of your files are corrupt

      • Yup; 1TB of any flash memory, even if its slow, is more than $15 wholesale. No way its retailing for that.

      • Thanks, will try that tonight.

I tested it with H2testw as suggested and it is indeed a fake. It threw the following error at around ~80GB:

Error writing file 'D:\80.h2w', offset 0x3a00000.
It is still possible to verify the test data written up to this point.
(The volume for a file has been externally altered so that the opened file is no longer valid. Code 1006)
Warning: Only 1015879 of 1015999 MByte tested.
        Writing speed: 1.47 MByte/s
        H2testw v1.4

Sorry if my comment misled anyone and thanks for helping me test it. I have already generated a return label to send it back to Amazon.

  • Buy the 32Gb version and get an echo dot for $19!

  • Perhaps better value @ just over $15 for 64Gb 3.1 ?
