kicked out after queuing. f cathay

  • +2

got kicked out after an hour… An error occurred. Please refresh the current page. (Refresh will not affect your queue status)

    • +1

same…refreshed for 15 minutes then got booted out. Back in the queue at 94,000 lmfao.

  • If you get kicked out you need to go back to the main page and enter the discount code there. I got to the booking page and it told me to refresh which did nothing.

Of course the code will only work after you have queued.

    I managed to book for 2 members - number 39** and 69**.

  • Managed to get one after around 1.5 hours. Was 7500 in the queue or something so there's hope yet

    • I am at 69870… not sure if any hope. I screwed up with timezone hence came in 30mins late.

  • Got kicked out 40min ago due to change of dates. Then from queue 87xx, now i booked 22 Dec 2023 till 21 Jan 2024 for just about 5xx.
Checked google flight it costs 25xx from CX.

I am heading to Japan in Jan so it would be much easier and cheaper to fly from Hong Kong to Japan.

  • waiting at 8xxx, just get in and get one ticket on Feb 2024, very smooth

  • +1

12:00 Queue no. 9942 "More than an hour"
13:04 Estimated wait time finally updated "40 minutes"
    13:27 Got through

Error message appeared "keep refreshing" - couldn't enter destinations at all. Refreshed with no luck. Referred to @raymond3601 comment above. Clicked to main booking page, ignored "rejoin queue" message. Entered destination and input promo code and it worked! Booked SYD-HK for November 2023.

    SYD-HK Return Total cost: $551.26

  • +1

I was queued at around 11,000 at noon. Got in at 1.30pm but then it redirected me back to the queue page, this time with no estimated wait time.

  • +2

Somehow managed to secure a ticket with a queue number of 10695 – what a pleasant surprise! Got to the front of the queue at 1:30pm, and confirmed my booking at 1:36pm. Wish everyone else the best of luck!

  • +3

GG. I got in, and went "Straight to Payment" then got Technical Details Error and kicked me out. Back in queue position 93,000.

  • +2

what!! I got in at position 734, been waiting on the "it will be your turn soon" page for the last hour. The status timer still shows its checking every minute.

    • +1

We are 500 ish and 1226 ish and still haven't got in!! strange how people with higher numbers eg: 10692 and 12000 are booking their flights….so much for queues!!!

  • +1

Got one! Was about #12000 in the queue. $551.26 return from Sydney.

Do I understand correctly these are in effect fully refundable, since the terms say only tax and surcharges are refundable and the ticket cost consists entirely of tax and surcharges?

  • +2

Was 79xx, got in and refreshed like crazy when given the error message and tried to put the discount code on the main page… didn’t work and got kicked to 929xx in the queue.

Pretty annoyed at this overall :(

  • +2

I got one. Was 9360 in the queue. When i got to the search page it didn't work but i checked the developer console and it was a cors error when the page was trying to load the airport data. - i unblocked CORS and then booked the ticket lol. Helped a friend who was 12k in the queue do the same thing.

Probably a CCP plot to kidnap nerds to fight in the future cyber war.

    • +1

So you are saying we could've all done this at 12:01pm?

    • +2

I have no idea what you are saying mate. Is there an easy way to do that for people who don't really understand IT?

      • See my other reply below lol

    • Hi Kabal, how do you unblock CORS? Hubby has same error now.

      • +1

If you are on Safari on Mac, go to preferences, advanced, tick the "Show Develop Menu", then go to the develop in the menu bar and select "Disable Cross-Origin restrictions".

If you use chrome, search for any of the cors unblocking extensions e.g. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/allow-cors-access-…

I would recommend removing these extensions / re-enabling cross-origin restrictions after this.

    • Thanks so much for commenting this, the other methods didn't work but downloading the CORS unblocking extensions worked in a clutch

  • +1

I was 11,000-ish in queue. Glitched a couple of times with that "refresh the page" that doesn't work bit, but just go back to the home page, and enter the code from there. Booked for $535 from Melbourne. No idea what I'm going to do in Hong Kong for two weeks, though… any suggestions?

    • +4

fly to Japan, thats what im doing

      • Yeah I would have done the same but to Taiwan or South Korea.

  • +1

Managed to secure one for me and the gf.

Just a hint to those out there. You can book multiple times. Just need to log out one account and into another.

Was able to secure same flight for both us in and out

    • You are lucky - I had the same feeling, I tried but after my first booking I rejoined the queue. I think I'm just not quick enough to do that before the cookie etc. updates

    • +1

Thanks! I bought two tickets use your technique

  • +2

    Your queue number: 100700

A total of 6,020 tickets will be available with individual allocations assigned to each departure city. (i.e Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane).

I'm not liking my chances lol

    • +1

Well especially not considering the guy above you got 2 tickets at once

  • we have a 24hr free cancellation right?

  • Yup. My queue no was about 17xxx and came to the payment page, but I give up.
I can't go myself leaving my wife and baby behind.
    Good luck everyone.

  • Home page, I can't enter MELHKGIA and "search flights", it won't let me proceed - any advice?

"This code is only valid for the exclusive ticket offer to Hong Kong campaign. To utilize this code, please click here to access the offer campaign page."

  • I just got in having been in the queue since 12pm. Got $550 tickets for Dec. It's fully refundable cause the fare is all taxes and surcharges. It clearly states in the T&Cs these are refundable.

  • There is a loophole, if you are within your 30 min space of booking tickets, you are able to sign out and login to another account to get another ticket if you're lucky.

    • +1

Should have known earlier… my 30min already passed…

      • how can you log out and login? I cant find the logout/login button? do you go back to the home page?

        • I didn't try that, but yes, I went back to the homepage and got the promo price. Probably same thing to log in and out. It's all gone now tho.

  • +1

Got the front of queue, got to booking page, error, placed back to 10k+… what a waste of time

  • +1

    This never worked for me..

    Queued for over an hour
    Signed in
Got to the Booking page then got hit with the error: "An error occurred. Please refresh the current page blabla"
Followed the instructions from the above by booking through the home page, entered the code and another error message says "it needs to be booked via the promotion".
Refreshed and tried again, then was hit with a "The discount code you have entered is only valid for members or a specific membership status. Please sign in to your account and try again". But it won't let me sign in again..

Then refreshed and back to 94000

  • +2

I was #19900, managed to score a flight from Syd in early Jan.

When I got to the front, it booted me out for "technical issues". I pressed back on my browser, and then waited for it to send me to the page again. It worked after that. Whatever you do, don't press rejoin queue button, just go back one page.

All tickets departing from Sydney as part of our Exclusive Ticket Offer have been exhausted.

Tickets departing from Melbourne/ Brisbane/ Perth are still available.

Rest assured you are still in line to get to the booking page for the campaign. We will let you in once the customers in front of you have finished their booking.

  • +2

FYI - quota reached for Sydney

  • +1

Sydney tickets are exhausted but can still get somewhat discounted tickets at $1100 as opposed to whatever the amount is shown without the code

  • +2

I was 18k in the queue and got a ticket a few minutes ago…don't lose hope!
    edit: from MEL

  • was 14xxx in the queue, got in at 13:40 and got one ticket for my mum! Lucky her I should've queued for myself too since December dates were available.

    • Hey others say once you get a ticket, you can log out and in and book another- Go with you mum !

      • Ah well all gone now… although I wanted to go at a different time than her LOL.

        • Fair haha, not too pricy if you go via another line with a stopover, glhf!

  • +2

    Melbourne tix finished too…

  • +1

All tickets departing from Sydney / Melbourne as part of our Exclusive Ticket Offer have been exhausted.

Tickets departing from Brisbane / Perth are still available.

    • +1

Edit - Ex - Perth remains

  • I was No. 25xxx, just bought two tickets MEL-HKG for me and my gf, 534.70 each, I logged out the account after the I got the confirmation email for the first ticket, and log into my GF's account with no issue.

    • wish I had done that after I bought mine, now the MEL-HKG is gone

  • +1

Got in and hit the error occurred. Tried to click through the Cathay logo and book there but kept coming up with an error for using the code. Sydney and Melbourne all gone - pretty miffed I wasted 2.5 hours for nothing

  • +1

All Sydney and Melbourne flights gone. Brisbane flights return at midnight so if you don't live there, you're up for another night accom.

  • Only Perth tickets remain now

  • -1

    the deal is a joke.

I was in 8xxxx place of queue? It is not a genuine deal.

    • -2

      You're not a genuine person.

  • +1

    Perth and Brisbane tickets remain.

Waited 2.5hours and got an error on the booking page…fun times

  • +2

27000th in the queue and got a ticket out of Perth -don't lose hope!

  • +1

I got to the front of the queue, and was about to book Brisbane (seeing it was still available), and that's now gone too.

  • I was queueing in 2 different computers.
One of them would throw errors - I think that's because I already searched for flights on that computer just before.

On the second computer I did not have any history on Cathay and Managed to book something from Brisbane with no issues at all.
I think if you have history of searching for the flights on Cathay before getting in, then will run into errors.

But I don't even live in Brisbane So we'll need to get ticket from Melbourne to Brisbane to fly.

    • Damn it if that is actually why then that's so annoying

    • +2

i don't think spending $595 and then probably another $250-300 return (Mel/Bris) would be worth it.
you can get tickets flying singapore for $900, saving you all the hassle and possibility of lost luggage/weight and transit

  • +1

Was 29k in the queue and got all the way to the end of a BNE-HKG booking, including payment… then found out the quota for Brisbane was exhausted. Darn.

    • Damn unlucky bro I was 26k and just got mine at 2.17pm

      • Ditto, I was 27K and got my ticket as well.

  • +3

And what makes me feel dirtier, is that I need to book a ticket for a trip, and Cathay (at regular prices) is still the cheapest…
… and I can't book it on their website, even if I'm prepared to pay full price, because of the stupid promo.

  • +1

Wife and I was 13XXX and 14XXX in queue and got a Syd to HK ticket.

    • Mine was 21xxx and got it from perth to hk

  • +2

So clowny, can't get behind companies who hold ridiculous promos without the infrastructure to support it.

Great job wasting 2 hours of everyone's day @cathaypacific

    What a waste of time.

  • +2

    and…. SOLD 0UT

  • +4

Out of spite I'm not gonna book cathay again…

    • +1

      Yeah better to book Jetstar.

  • +3

total waste of time to save $600. I prefer my life with less stress.

  • +2

Absolute horrible promo, got kicked to the back of the queue after I got in and tried to search for a flight. I can only book one at a time anyway and the chances of my partner getting the same flight is almost zero. This has actually put me off Cathay Pacific.

  • I was 42,200 in the queue. When it was my turn I got in some sort of loop logging on, then the message that all flights were booked 5 minutes ago.

Anyway since the real cost was over $500, I've now signed up to various mailing lists for other offers. All is not lost. Even looking at Bonza & South Pacific options.

  • 7394 in queue. When it was my turn, chose my dates and clicked on the extras, I got hit with a technical error. Managed to recover the session and try to pay. Paying with my card ended up in another technical error. Managed to recover again and paid with PayPal. Fortunately went through. :)
