has anyone successfully booked a ticket? 😅

    • Yes

      • +2

        How?

        • No idea? got lucky.. i think, was queued at 500

          • @Bambini88: nice, how much did you end up paying?

          • @Bambini88: Did you put in the discount code?

            • @melodicdusk: When its your turn, the page will refresh and it will ask you to sign up/ log in. and then you book from there. It will give you a generic promo code, I tried using the promo code outside of the offer booking page and it does not work, so it can only be booked via that page only.

            • @melodicdusk: MELHKGIA this is the discount code, but you can only use it inside the exclusive page. i tried to login thru cathay directly to reuse code for different account, but it rejected me =(

              • @holymackerel: I put the code in but then it just takes me to another page that says "It will be your turn soon, please keep this page open".
No queue number but just says "status last updated: XX:XX"
                Waste of time

    • Yes and no. Got to final pay page and decided not to go through with it

    • yup, got in 3 minutes in queue. 20th Dec to 14th January - $534.70

  • +1

Queue hasn't moved for the last 20 mins lol…Joined the queue to log in on another device and the number is at 65979

  • +1

I managed to login and everything (after waiting in queue), then when searching for the dates again, i entered the promocode but I got

"This code is only valid for the exclusive ticket offer to Hong Kong campaign. To utilize this code, please click here to access the offer campaign page."

When I got to that link and click "Book Now" - over 1 hour wait LOL

    • +1

Exactly what happened to me and I gave up

  • +5

Got all the way to the booking page with everything confirmed and threw you back into the queue again - number 61961 + 1-hour queue

This accurately reflected the new HK government, who sponsors these tickets under its 'Hello, Hong Kong' campaign. Pathetic and lost the plot.

    • Made in China

    • +1

If their job is to attract people to go to Hong Kong they're doing a terrible job with this….

  • +5

I wonder if anyone has actually secured a ticket?

    • +1

my queue number is 9322 and estimated wait time is now 17 minutes

  • +1

    Your queue number: 7674
Expected arrival time on the website: more than an hour
Your estimated wait time is: more than an hour

    Status last updated: 12:25:29

  • +1

Got up to choosing the dates and then got moved to another queue, may be stuck at the moment , around queue number 5250 to book

  • +1

Totally forgot about this. Am I too late? :(

    • +3

Nah. People who were here at 12:00 exact are basically in the same place as you. Nobody's getting anything… so don't feel bad.

    • +5

User name does not check out!

  • +1

what a joke, queue for another queue searching for flights then queue
not is says the queue is paused

  • I'm at 5000 queue and it says "the queue is paused", is that a indication I actually made it into allotted 6k?

    • +1

I think it's the wrong queue; apparently you had to click on "BOOK NOW" on the exclusive page, because I was also in that same 'paused' queue, but it's the wrong one rip

      • I couldn't find any page with book now before being booted to the queue. just tried before and i was in 5 minute queue but generic url.

Right under "Say Hello to Hong Kong" and "See further terms and conditions", there a boxed "Book Now". But I didn't see it till I refreshed the page :\

          • @itsasheep123:

Got booted out (I think?) at 12:00 and now sitting at 10982. Has anyone actually managed to buy a ticket so far?

    • Yes but decided not to pay

  • +1

Just book qantas at this rate

  • +1

My queue number was 1062 - i waited 20 mins to get in and when I was finally in, i wasnt able to even search flight dates.
Had an error on top saying "An error occured, Please refresh the current page."
Refresh a bagillion times during my 15 mins. lol no luck

    • so did you manage to book anything?

      • +1

nothing, the error prevented me from doing anything lol

    • +1

Smh. Got the same error message. No luck.

    • Same here. Did you use desktop or mobile browser?

      • desktop via google chrome

        • Failed on me with mobile browser (Samsung internet browser)

  • +2

The queue number doesn't seem to go down at all, wondering if anyone was able to secure a ticket? People also complained about the stupid queue system when the campaign was carried out in North America…

    • Queue number doesn't change, just shows you how many people are in front of you at the time of queuing. Only the progress bar and time changes.

  • +1

ridiculous website. logged in at 11:58. and was kick out at 12pm. then refreshed the page, queue at 3xxx, and paused, then open another browser session, queue at 45752 and not moving at all.

  • what dates are free? I dont see any free dates?

  • +8

Was able to secure a ticket successfully. Clicked the 'Book now' link in the exclusive ticket offer page (in an incognito window) right on 12:00pm, got queue: 2286. Left the page sitting in the background and made sure not to refresh, got in at 12:42pm. Luckily no errors when entering departure/arrival city + dates as some have reported previously. Then managed to search required flights and paid successfully.

    • how much did you pay? I cant find any free dates…

      • +3

        $534.70 MEL-HKG Return during December.

        • did you just had to keep searching for random periods? I cant find any around $500…

          • +2

@homersyd: I had a pre-planned date in mind already so didn't search for other dates sorry, just wanted to get in and out as quickly as I could.

            • @lawshambles: Does the price show as ~$500 when you select the flights, or does it show full price and then discounted at end?

              • +2

@sixnout: It showed ~$1200 for the departure flight, $0 for return and then it applied the promo code at checkout.

                • +1

@lawshambles: Thank you mate, legend! Got through, didn't have to think twice about anything and booked quickly with no issues.

  • +1

What a joke my queue number has not moved for over an hour lol

    • +1

That's just a number, it will not change.

  • no.7100, 55mins wait as of right now.

  • So what are the blackout dates for those who've managed to get through?

    • From when i booked, all i remember was that 1st to 12th January is blocked. For december I remember there is one week blocked but can't remember where.

My ticket is 20th Dec to 14th Jan.

    • Jul 16-23, Dec 11-18, Jan 3-7

  • -4

feels like a scam… can not find the discount code… anyone have same problem??

    • Read the comments above. It's been discussed many times.

  • +1

Purchased Syd to HK - total was $551.26.

    • when please?

      • +1

Feb 2024. I had dates in mind and did not look at blackout periods.

        • -1

i cant find ANY dates around $500 at all… :(
been trying for the past 15mins, might get kicked out soon

          • +3

@homersyd: When you select flights, it will show close to full price, ie $1100. But once you select both flights and proceed, it will bring the price down via discount.

  • Does anyone else see the msg 'An error occurred. Please refresh the current page. (Refresh will not affect your queue status)' after entering the booking page? Kept refreshing but nothing changed

    • +1

I clicked on the cathay pacific icon and booked it through there. Put the code in and ull be in

      • +1

can you please elaborate? clicked on the logo which takes me to the main page, but when entering the discount code, it tells me to go back to the exclusive ticket offer page

        • When you go back to the home page, theres table with the flights and stuff. Don't worry about the date, just put in the code. The date you can adjust later.

          • @raymond3601: I just got another ticket that way

            • +3

@raymond3601: I clicked on the top left Cathay icon to get to home page. Entered in code > search flights > then i get this error:

This code is only valid for the exclusive ticket offer to Hong Kong campaign. To utilize this code, please click here to access the offer campaign page.

      • Just tried, then an error msg popped up "This code is only valid for the exclusive ticket offer to Hong Kong campaign. To utilize this code, please click here to access the offer campaign page.", guess it must be through that campaign link

        • +1

refresh the page, you wanna stay on that page and make sure u stay on the main page with the flight table. chuck in the code and let it do the rest

          • @raymond3601: Saw someone's comment that the code only works if you've already queued, but I was in the wrong queue in the beginning so it didn't work for me. Congrats on getting tix though.

      • This worked for the USA/CA release but it's patched up for AU/NZ release no?

  • +3

If you get kicked out of the queue after getting in, u gotta click go back on the tab and keep refreshing. Force the window and DON'T CLOSE THE TAB. I just got one.

  • +1

"An error occurred. Please refresh the current page. (Refresh will not affect your queue status)".

    Yay.. Waste of time

    • raymond3601's method worked.

  • +4

Got a return ticket from MEL > HK for $534.70. Was 2819 in the queue and waited about 50mins.

  • +3

was 2500 in the queue, got in and got the "An error occurred. Please refresh the current page. (Refresh will not affect your queue status)" message.

Refreshed and nothing happend, waited a while and refreshed again and now im back at the back of the queue of 80k+

    what a joke

    • +2

Same thing happened to me and I was 2327. No fun.

    • on the same boat, was in 3789. "An error occurred. Please refresh the current page. (Refresh will not affect your queue status)" refreshed multiple times nothing happened, and got kicked out after 15 mins. Now at "Your queue number: 90141"

    • Same here :(

  • Was 2648 in queue but my bf didn't get in so ended up giving my tickets to a friend who was super happy about it, thanks OP for posting :)

    • +4

How did you give tickets when the names are locked in?

      • it let me log out of my account and log into my friends without kicking from the queue

  • +3

    Some black-out dates for you:

    11/12-17/12 not available
    3/1/24-7/1/24 also blacked out

    • How about Christmas?

  • +1

no.7103 just finished transaction. $551.26 from Sydney.

  • +3

I can book the ticket, but I didn't make the booking. The reasons are
    * From Sydney to HK, price is AUD 551….without discount is 1200
    * You can only book for 1 person…
    * Reschedule will cost 460….

So if I want to book a flight for my family, I need to pay another 31200…
But if I book with any other company such as china southern airline, it's about 4
    600 to 4* 800, cheaper than this…

    • china southern airline

Not sure those are direct flights though

    • +1

Oh man i guess this is only for solo travellers
