Don't waste money on Mecha-Membrane. not worth
My avid gamer son I think agrees, but the reviews seem solid at even RRP. Do you have an alternative you could recommend at the sub $50 price point? Cheers!
for $50 you cant really get a good keyboard, but even the kogan mech which goes on sale frequently is better than this.
bump to 80-120 get this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/774742 or basically any keychron specific to your needs
Sounds good - appreciate the advice.
@SnoopX: Gamdias makes good keyboards and can be had for around $50-$60 at msy.

just went back to the kogan keyboard and its back on special 😂😂
@Leho: LOL! You did say they were on special often haha!
I have one of these and I prefer them over mechanical. Guess its just personal preference at the end of the day.
My sons G810 (I think that's the model) jus shat itself and being a poor student he went for the Razer. Says it's definitely different but he thinks he might get used to it.
I've had 2 of these (one was an RMA) so usual caveats about Razer quality, but for this price, it's a bargain.
I have one… It just sits as a spare now but had no issues with it
featuring a hybrid switch that merges the benefits of membrane keys and mechanical switches into one singular design.
As someone who hates mechanical due to the sound it raised my eyebrows
the cushioned feel of a conventional keyboard, coupled with an audible and tactile click.

Bloody hell, why don't they make good silent keyboards anymore? If it's any consolation, my boy did say it was quieter than his Logitech :)
Why not try silent switches? Boba U4s? Cherry/Gateron silents? You'll probably need to get a hotswappable board however, you'd be hard pressed to find a pre-built option with them already.
Bloody hell, why don't they make good silent keyboards anymore?
Sure they do, but not mainstream brands like Razer or Corsair. And it's not the keyboard as much as the switches themselves.
Ducky tends to do boards with Silent switches and they're reasonably mainstream accessible.
From noise test videos they still sound too loud to me and I think they would end up working out pretty expensive.
Sure they do, but not mainstream brands like Razer or Corsair.
So do you know any?
and I think they would end up working out pretty expensive.
True, the switches themselves will cost quite a bit depending on which ones you choose.
So do you know any?
You can get a barebones kit if you want, they can be as low as 40-50 bucks depending on the layout you choose. AliExpress or Amazon. Then switches will be an extra $30-$100, again depending on which ones you choose. Keycaps as well.
I got it from Office works price beat $46.55 total. Thanks OP!
I just tried doing the online price match with Hardly Normal - price match was rejected since it was (apparently) way below market price - even though Umart, PCCasegear, Mwave, Centre Com have it for similar price
YMMVThat was the first time I did OW price matching over the phone. So I guess I got lucky. Thanks for the info though. Hope you get yours.
I wanted the keyboard sooner rather than later, and the closest Officeworks with stock is too far for a quick trip, so I just ended up getting it through Umart and paid for express shipping - still a whole lot cheaper than what Hardly Normal is charging for it.
Just picked one up in the Pascoe Vale store. Seems like a solid budget option.
