Great. This combined with a free whopper makes a cheap meal. Wash it down with a bucket of slurpee.

    • said like a true ozbargainer!

    • Cheaper to buy from HJ. Save petrol too if there's one near you.

Am I the only one who finds Lord of the Fries to be pretty average chips? For Melbourne CBD I'd definitely recommend Schnitz for chips over LotF.

I agree. Albeit, I've only tried them once, I thought the fries were soft/flimsy. The sauce on the top was basically mayo masking the fries flavour. Fries/Chips should be soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Maybe just personal preference but you shouldn't need sauce to disguise the taste of your food (e.g. steak).

You're definitely not the only one. For a store that prides itself on its chips, they're some pretty bland, soggy chips.

I've only had them once when I was visiting Melbourne, ate of few of them and threw the rest into the garbage bin. Didn't do a whole lot for me.

tried it last time they had this deal. the one in mel central. indeed not all that great! was expecting it to be nice crispy and golden.

Even though it was cooked fresh for me, they were flat and soggy, as if it's being left out for a while. Sauce was nothing special. Personally dont like sauce with chips as makes them more soggy!!!

    • It's all about the sauce for me. Grill'd does the best chips. ;)

    Sydney needs LoTF

"Valued at $6"! WTF, really? Who in their right mind pays $6 for a paltry cone of hot chips? $3 worth from my local chippy is enough for 3 of us with spare left over for the dog (and they are awesome chips!).

When your local fish and chip shop sells a variety of add on sauces at numerous locations for a moderate add on, I'll agree with you, until then, apples and oranges!

not to mention when his local shop is willing to set up in the prime real estate locations of flinders street station yet still only be $3.

    • You are forgetting the the free gobbie you get if you eat in….
At least thats why I feel its good value.

  • Went to LoTF at Flinders St when I was down in Melbourne in May at about 9.30pm on a Monday night and they were closed. Checked the opening times on their window and they were meant to be open until like 10.30pm :/ Was sad. Ended up going to Coneheads which was a couple of doors down and they were pretty good.

Are their fries different and better than others, or is it just that they put it in a cone?

    • For me, it is the smell from their stores that gets me. I have no idea what they put inside but their addictive value is close to that of a class A narcotic. Irresistible!

From my experience, they are no better than anywhere else. I also find the cone to be a negative, as you can't sit it down nicely!
