    What about whiskey?

    • +1

Being neither Irish or American, I'd be surprised if they had a whiskey.

      • "World Whisky Day"

        • World Whisky Day is a global event, rather than a day about whiskies from other parts of the world. This is a WA distillery that is selling whisky that they have produced.

            @Plimsol:

            This is a WA distillery

So they got to name the global event?

            • +1

@jv: No, it’s an existing global event that they are taking part in. They are limited to only producing Australian whisky due to certain geographical complications.

No, it’s an existing global event

It's not really global if it excludes whiskey.

                • @jv: It’s a global event. You can buy whisk(e)y from any country you like, or you can find a distributor in this country. You are going to struggle to find Australian distilleries (like this one) producing Irish or American whiskey.

                    It’s a global event.

Then why is it called "World Whisky Day" ?

                    • @jv: I appreciate that you are trying to communicate by using different formatting, but the same words and grammar, however I’m struggling to understand that particular style of communication. Could you dumb it down into a coherent sentence for me?

                      • @Plimsol: i think it’s the pickup on grammar of whisky vs whiskey , . not sure if the spelling differences are due to our failed education system, cultural misappropriation, or globalisation

                    • @jv: Because it was founded by a Scotsman.

                        founded by a Scotsman.

So it should be called "Scottish Whisky Day"

A Scotsman cannot represent the whole world.

                      or from Sydney…

@jv: I’m not from Sydney and not sure what that means, is that some sort of
                        profiling thing?

@Plimsol: Just ignore the knobend is what they're saying…

You can get 12yr old single malts for around $100, this seems overpriced.

    • this is 48% alcohol not the std 40% so can’t compare to 40% scotch, finally australian distillers are diversifying from gin into whisky….. gin is a quick turnaround cashflow spirit , no need to age, whisky needs to be stored for min 3 years i think …. the heat in australia makes it mature quicker than in Scotland , but yes , not sure why it’s more expensive than some 12 year old scotch whiskies except for the 48% abv , im sure someone will say taxes but the maths doesn’t add up and starward at 40% abv which is australian sell some whiskies for $65 , but glenfiddich 12 year old is 40% abv about $65 …… cost to manufacture + duty based on abv + marketing = shelf price. think whisky is about $80-$90 per litre of alcohol according to ATO …..

  • Does anyone know where I can sell my whisky? Does anyone have a lead on Facebook groups?

    • +2

depends how much whisky you have to sell, and how much cheaper you are than other suppliers, it is actually illegal to sell liquor without a license , but then it’s illegal to sell vapes with nicotine without a script or to sell vapes to minors , etc ….

    • Make a spreadsheet with all your bottles and shop it around to a bunch of local bottle shops. see what they offer. Bear in mind, the alcohol tax increase should make all your bottles go up at least by the increase in the alcohol percentage. obviously more rare bottles will fetch more.

    • Posting to Facebook will get your account, and/or the group you post in shutdown.

Best bet is probably the various auction sites e.g. Australian whisky auctions, whisky trade or wickmans,

Depending on what's in your collection, some shops/online retailers may be interested.
