Has anyone used it before? how long does it last?

    • +1

Yes, have had its grey colour version in my garage for two years with no issues. It’s a great product.

    • +1

Yes, I like it. My experience is that you won't get the coverage that it states though.

I would buy double, or at least a spare single pack and just return what you don't use. Running out half way is bad. Also, if I had to do it again, I would get someone to help - it starts going off in half an hour or so, so you need to move fast, and if you're putting flakes in it, it slows you down a lot. I barely made it with one pack before it started getting goopy. Don't assume either that it will cover over cracks - get the putty stuff too and fill all of them first.

Looks massively better with the clearcoat too, but extra cost obviously. It's really hard to see where you've applied it though, so I have a small area that I just missed and didn't see until it was dry. It's not a big deal though.

Preparation matters too - it has to be super clean (clean from dirt and oil - stains don't matter) and dry. I spent several weekends cleaning and prepping, but then it only took an hour or so to put down the whole coating, which is pretty satisfying.

  • My concrete is stained with oil etc. Does anyone know how much clean-up would be required for this stuff?

    • +2

Surface preparation is very important. I think you need to pressure wash the surface, scrub it with acidic liquid and then wash it again. You’ll need to make sure that the surface is 100% dry before applying the product. Stains wouldn’t be an issue as the product is very thick and cover then easily

      • Thanks, appreciate the insights.

      • if you could grind it, just one wash required and no acid wash required, it will also level you garage if you need

    before deciding to purchase

    • One of the reasons I don't want to risk it. if it does not last its much better not doing it at all.

      • My word EXACTLY.

Not just money but time wasted.

I put mine down ~5 years ago and it still looks the same as it did when it was new. I think a lot of people who have flaking/lifting didn't do their surface prep well enough.

firm durometer rubber flooring is much better than using this stuff IMO. You'll end up needing to add textured particles for grip. If you really want to bother doing all of that and do a decent job of it, they can end up looking alright. I've done it once before and I ended up covering the floor with rubber anyway. I wouldn't do a project like this again.

There are lots of other decent uses for it though.

    • Any links pls? Tia

There are seconds rubber places that deliver, or you can try bunnings, they have some decent rubber floor tile options to play with.

any examples of what this might look like?

    • Can u actually park car on it??
Don't think it could support the weight and over time will have a dent?

      • Yes. I've never had a problem.

  • This product or the one from Bunnings (link below) as I have seen lots of mix reviews in regard to the coverage ads and quality from Amazon review.

When I did my garage, I was weighing my options over this v/s epoxy. I have friends who used both and it really depends on personal experience. While my friend who went with epoxy was happy, my friend who used this was not so impressed. Both did DIY and while my friend who used this is more hands on than my epoxy friend, he struggled with this. He needed much more material than it claims, he has to make trips to Bunnings to buy more material while he was doing his job. Hence the overall finish was also not great. If anyone considering this, I would recommend buying atleast 1.5 times of what it claims eg. Buy atleast enough to do 3 garage for a double garage.
Looking at both their experiences, I decided to just get a normal heavy duty garage paint from Bunnings for my garage and have been happy with the results. The main reason I opted for that was that the paint I have is easily removable with a simple acid wash if needed, while neither epoxy nor this can be removed once put on, without of course braking the concrete slab. So choose wisely.

    • After reading your comments I'm thinking should I use concrete sealer vs garage paint….

Concrete sealer is not the same as epoxy but it get absorbed into the concrete.

I haven’t used concrete sealer, but isn’t it transperant? So if you are looking for a colour, you would need a garage paint. I found it much easier to do the job and far less risky of it going wrong. Also, if it were to go wrong, the fix is easy as. That’s why I decided to go with it.
Quite frankly, the guy in Bunnings helped me make my decision. Try talking to some one in your local store if needed.

    • I have DIYed this and while I am happy with the result, I agree that you’ll need more more material than suggested. I used one double garage and one single garage kits on my 40m2 garage.

    • How is your garage paint holding up?

      • It’s been 3+ years now and so far so good.
I won’t lie, there are some tyre marks but it’s not even half as bad as some of my epoxy friends who got it professionally done and paid a fortune.

        • Cheers, I've given up on epoxy. seems like a maintenance nightmare. with paint its a lot easier to touch up or repaint the lot when it gets worn out.

    • Hi mate, could u link to the heavy duty garage paint that you used? Not sure which one to look at from Bunnings website. Thanks!

this is the only one I can see on the website. But there should be more brands and sizes instore.
I also had to do the acid wash using the etcher as you would prior to painting the concrete.
I also took the white base colour and got the colour I wanted mixed from them.

        • thanks mate. appreciated the info.

  • Will this cover existing mould and prevent it from resurfacing provided i cleanup andacid etch before application?
The regular concrete sealer doesn't work.

  • Good price and good idea to put a couple of anti-slip additives. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/195060149538

  • I used this product and needed three and a half packs to get adequate coverage for a two car garage. It was on a new garage. It came up nice, throw down a lot of the chips. I would recommend but make sure the surface is prepared properly.
