ripoff, more than a thousand for a tablet?

    • Only reason to get it is if you want 4G internet with Telstra coverage.

OK, so it'll be cheaper to buy this way, compared to buying the tablet outright and getting a plan?

    • It's not the tablet that your paying for, it is the 4G connectivity.
Until the our suppliers release 4G, Telstra have no market competition and hence think they can charge what ever they want.
People out there are willing to pay these ridiculous prices for faster speeds (no one on Ozbargain obviously)

Getting a 4G hotspot and a 7.7 inch will be better for most people.

  • Extremely limited Telstra 4G coverage availability atm. Certainly not worth paying the extra to get 4G, when you can't even use it.

    • Even if you don't get 4G, the 3G itself is very good. I have used virgin, vodafone, and amaysim and find the telstra has a good download speed. I got prepaid, paid $180 for 1 year.

      • How good is telstra's connection on a moving train? If they can hold a connection and not dropout on certain stations (even when stationary) then im in!

        • I have only tried on a moving bus and that was from Brisbane to Eight Mile Plains. I watched several youtube videos. From memory I did some spot test and would be getting between 10-20Mbps. I did not do it again as I was on prepaid and didn't want to use all my load.

Neg because full price was not in the title or description. Doesn't look like a good deal anyway 1Gb for $49 a month. No Deal

  • So from data we conclude that the relative upgrade 3g->4g can be a fraction of 1Mbit/ '900Kbps':

    4G: Typical download speeds are 2Mbps -
HSPDA: Typical download speeds are from 1.1Mbps

Although I might be reading it conservatively; that doesn't seem like a very large revision.

  • "1Gb for $49 a month."

    Agree; this is 2G. Pass.
