Sony: 13% Cashback (Exclusions Apply, No Minimum Spend, No Cap) @ Cashrewards

491

Larger cash back than usual. Stack with Amex $100 cash back if you have it.

YMMV as there were some comments on OB about Sony cashbacks not tracking or not redeemable when they are due, which require reaching out to their support staff. My experience with CR cashbacks had been generally ok so far, a few times had to raise support requests to resolve.

Cashback is ineligible on the following:
PlayStation products & accessories, including any purchases from the PlayStation store.
Purchases made with exclusive discounts provided to employees, corporate and commercial partners of Sony Australia. Cashback is also ineligible for Sony X Members, Alpha Pro Support, Student and Educator program members, and Service Centres.
Lay-Bys, purchases from eBay, Amazon, parallel import stores, second hand purchases and other online resellers not authorised by Sony Australia are ineligible for cashback.
Creative Pro is ineligible for cashback.
Cashback may be ineligible if using codes not listed on Cashrewards.
Purchase of gift cards or use of gift cards for full or partial payment.
Purchases using coupon codes not listed on Cashrewards.
Items that are cancelled, returned, exchanged or refunded.
GST, other taxes and delivery fees.
Fraudulent transactions.
Purchases using any type of discount which lowers price advertised on the Merchant site, including but not limited to employee discounts, student discounts and price-matching.

Careful, T&Cs have been updated :(

      Noted and updated description.
Interestingly, Shopback (1.75%) does not have that clause. YMMV. Risk vs reward.

Actually, it seems to be a generic disclaimer they applied to all merchants now that I checked e.g. same disclaimer on Expedia, eBay etc. Never had issues with CR and price matched transactions before at Sony but I need someone else to be the guinea pig before I try again lol.

        • +2

It wasn't there before, it was recently added.

          • @snvl: Yup it was, but it was also added to everyone else too so it wasn't specifically targeting the Sony listing. If the Sony listing was updated specifically then we would know for sure that price matching was not ok but if its just a generic bullet point they added to every listing then there's still a shot if nothing has changed on Sony end.

            • @eecan: It would great if @tightarse would weigh in on this and let us know if Sony will issue CR for pricematched items already in a basket.

              • @Flyerone: Already has, on the Forum, and the answer is no. Happened to me, and I’m now sitting in pending.

                • @casualusercts: When did he say that? I asked CR/SB a few times about pricematching a while ago and was never able to get a straight answer.

                  • @eecan: So what is the verdict? Will we get a cash back price matched items from Sony or not?

    • can't find it on https://www.cashrewards.com.au/sony, have they modified it?

      • +1

Strange, I can't see it anymore either but I can still see it on other merchants? Is this implied approval of price matching lol

Probably because they were updating T&Cs to remove the last clause in contention, no doubt CR saw the robust discussion here. Happy day 😀

  • I recommend taking screen shots showing the the cashrewards tracker has been activated. My last purchase didn’t track and I needed to follow up.

    • Absolutely agree. I seem to have issues with the CR Chrome plug-in that it sometimes activates and sometimes doesn't.

  • Playstation products excluded :(

  • when will sony release a newer oled 83"… its getting a bit annoying…looks like the A95k led may be the way

  • Ive had issues with tracking after pricematching last 2 purchases from Sony. One went through after manual intervention, second one still pending.
Now that they have added the Price match exclusion I dont think I'd be trying my luck again.

    • My February Cashback finally went through today from Sony

  • It's a pity the Australian Sony online store has such a limited selection. It's pretty much all TVs, Cameras and small items. Gone are the glory days with ES class amps and Hires decks… Anyone in Sydney visited the physical stores lately? Anything interesting on site that's not online?

    • I've visited Sony, Castle Towers. The store is small and mostly uneventful. It's great for hands-on testing cameras and lenses, but apart from that, JB-HiFi has more exciting tech varieties for window shopping. I'm not too sure about stock in-stores that's not online.

  • Cashreward tracking is unreliable unlike shopback.
I purchased from sony aust via cashreward apps. So it uses browser from Cashreward.
    Yet, it's not tracked.

    • Yes. Sony is one of the least reliable sites for CR tracking. Others like Aliexpress track better on CR.

Didn't neg you but Shopback is the only portal that has failed me for cashback (denied after manual claim) and I've done many price matched Sony transactions across CR/SB/Cheddar.

Cashrewards have paid out all 7 of my Sony transactions over the last 12 months (some required manual claims) BUT you definitely hear negative feedback from others so I wouldn't say it like its a sure thing either.

      • Cashrewards has worked for me with Sony so far on a number of price matched items too.

  • Just placed a priced matched order for a tv, cashrewards tracked as per normal within 10 mins!

  • I've placed another price matched order and it has tracked, will update in a few months if it gets approved/denied.

  • Purchased yesterday, my cash back has not been tracked

  • My purchase was not tracked. First time attempting cashback with Sony. Have had years of cashbacks with other retailers with no problems. Waiting to submit a manual claim.

    • same here, very stressed right now

      • Had a look through the forums and seems a lot of regulars have had to submit manual claims of late so hopefully it will be fine. I took a few screenshots during the process as proof.

  • Think I'm gonna miss out on my cash back. The transaction wasn't tracked through their Cashrewards ios app, and had to submit a request to get it manually added. I did provide all the screenshots of the purchase, receipt, payment transaction, and today I just got a email asking "To get started, may I kindly ask for you to confirm if you are an employee, corporate partner, or business partner of Sony Australia? If so, did you get a deal on something? Please indicate which of the following groups you are a part of: Service Centers, Student and Educator Program, Alpha Pro Support, and Sony X Members.", which I'm kinda assuming they're unable to locate the transaction and I'll be missing out on $500 or so from the cashback …

And here, I only just reactived my Cashrewards account for this. All of them are pretty awful, but I guess I'll go back to Shopback for future purchases - I still have a lens in my cart, ready to be purchased too.

    • I got the same question, said no and then they just added it straight away to my pending cashbacks.

    • I got that as well. Answered the questions and now my cashback is pending. I will report back once/if approved.

Sony A7RV cameras suffer with dust problems on the sensor! Far more than any other camera I have ever owned and I own several cameras including a Nikon D850 and Fuji X-H2!!!

  • @TA will we get another cashback offer before EOFY?

  • +1

My price matched transaction from this cashback promotion is now paid out so that confirms that price matches can be eligible under this set of T&Cs BUT I'm concerned about the comments regarding 'negotiated deals/price matching' following yet another T&C update in this thread now: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13859794/redir

I found that withdraw request from CR was also fast, within a day it's in your bank account. Shopback takes about 3 days.
